      In the AK hand I feel he got a boat with the 10 because there was only one over card and he knew you were betting so he wanted to let you bet the river to raise or Jam. From wrestling to poker great story bro 🤙

      Your situation JJ I had a similar situation but I had AK. Villain jammed with 88 $150 behind. I called with AK and lost. What do you think about the call?

    • @ihumbleyew3430
      @ihumbleyew3430 2 роки тому +2

      My intuition is villain bluffed you off your AK hand due to a failed flush draw. Definitely a play I would of made.

      I respect you posting ups and downs because I’ve been having bad runs lately. My bluffs are improving and overall I think I’m a better player now.

      Lex, have you ever considered trying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu? Your wrestling background and fitness would give you an enormous head start. The community and fellowship of most BJJ gyms is incredible, and the sport itself is super fun.

    TY for your background story. I can relate with the intensity of studying. I'm a horse player. I crammed 6hours every morning for 3yrs, teaching myself how to handicap a race. This is my 5th year in, and I'm still at it. Trying to get to a professional level, however, I would be happy to get to create a supplemental income for now. Either way, great content! Don't stop.... Lex, You're a bright guy, with a hard-earned origin adventure story, and your whole life of adventure still ahead... but don't pigeon-hole yourself as only one thing- a crossfitter, poker-player, etc. Keep doors open, keep your passion for fitness and other wonders in life. Seek the balance, as you mentioned. Value your journey over a far-off destination. Don't be seduced into becoming "the best"; just study the life of poker players and chess players who went mad obsessing about perfection and 'solving' the game. All of your journey may be just taking you to somewhere you've not seen on the horizon yet. I've enjoyed watching your excellent content; keep up the great work.

    Lex your one of my favs mostly because your absolute honesty and you remind me of me 35 years ago... Those that are totally driven to be the best end up having those sort of things absorb there entire life. It is both a curse and an asset to realize that at your young age. It took me many years to realize that lucky for me I had a great wife and business who supported me even though i have made money at poker every year for 38 years I have never truly gone pro. It did buy a lot of nice toys over the years and The first 5 years of my business it supported my business habit. I could have easily lost a business or relationship over poker it is extremely addictive and if there is a good game with a few whales almost harder to leave that table than it is to keep the other parts of life in balance.

    That's some heavy shit at the end talking about your obsession with poker and how you learned so much at the expense of relationships, friends etc by dedicating a year of your life to immerse yourself in the game and study and play full time. . I am a 60 year old disabled man who is totally obsessed with poker and going to spend the next year of my life doing the same because I need to supplement my SS Disability check and need to make an extra $2,000 a month to live comfortably. I live in TX and went to the very first poker room in my entire like and played $1/$2 with $300 buy in. It was most intimidating thing ever because all I have done it play with friends at a local bar 25 cents/50 cents games with $20 buy in and now I am sitting with strangers that seemed much more aggressive and much better than my drunk buddies from the local bar who I know well and their betting style. Sitting with strangers scared the shit out of me and I went expecting to lose the $300 and to my surprise, I walked out with $997 after about 4 hours which blew my fuckimg mind. $700 profit for first time out is either beginners luck or maybe my poker skills has improved enough to hold my own with recreational players and some low level pros. Going back tomorrow and if I win again and it can be as little as $100 to $300, I realize I can actually make a living playing poker part time if I truly continue studying the game and pay my dues. So about to woodshed and study poker every morning for 4 hours as well as play everyday in the $1/$2 for the next year. I truly believe I will become a low level poker pro and be able to EASILY make an extra $2000 to $3000 a month by next year if not sooner. I was up $1100 at one point last night and was ready to quit but back-to-back bad beats. . Luckily I live by 3 major poker rooms that are very well known so now it's up to me to put the work in. Joined Masterclass to study the Phil Ivy and Daniel Negreanu classes and also looking for online training course and open to recommendations. Sorry for long post but when I heard Lex say you can make money playing poker and making $700 first time out he made me realize that becoming a professional player is very doable if I anyone is able to put the time in. Plus I have supernatural intuition about people and a mathematical mind so learning pot odds, position, bluffing, 3 betting etc seems so natural to me. Thanks for motivating me Lex and will see you one day at a final table🙏
