    The mental aspect of the game has always been my toughest demon. Bad thoughts seem to breed bad beats and bad play. I now try to visualize myself being the winner in the trips over trips hands and visualize good karma. It has helped. Your Vlogs are great Lex, and I appreciate that you share your frustration as well as your triumphs of playing poker.

    I love the honesty, and transparency. As a poker player myself, we all have days like these. Watching your experiences, reminds me that it's not just happening to me. Everything you stated was spot on. Do not play on days your mental isn't at its best. 💯

    Hey, really appreciate showing all ups and downs. A lot of videos out there just show winning hands and portray themselves like they always win each and every hand.

    Also, that queens full hand against action dude. You frustrated me so bad with that hand haha. You CANNOT lose that hand so check and let dude bet worse hands/draws or give him a free card to hit the river. You probably stack him on the river and end the night with a different outtro

    • @Nosirt
      @Nosirt 11 місяців тому

      @@wompwomp7177this is true but it’s also true you need to look at board texture to bluff. With the ace pairing, you have less credibility to rep it. Especially if your opponent has it- people do not fold their trips. His bluff would work if the ace didn’t pair (by work, I don’t mean getting a fold but that it would make sense.)

    • @KaliAndy2
      @KaliAndy2 11 місяців тому

      @@Nosirtwith ace pairing its also less likely villain has it.

    • @Nosirt
      @Nosirt 11 місяців тому

      @@KaliAndy2 this is true but doenst matter because since you are betting (for the bluff) you are the only one repping it. The villain isn’t repping an ace wether he actual has it or not. Meaning that the villian does not actually need an ace to call there- wether he has an ace or pocket 5 makes no sense. You are never betting there for anything less than an ace but because of that, the villain can call off the bet with anything or fold anything.

    I'm from Maryland too, played at coconut creek for the first time last year. Just some 2/5 but won 700 with pocket Kings. King came on the flop, aggressive player was first to act, went all in. My girl was asleep at our air BnB and I couldn't miss the opportunity to check out south Florida at night. Great memory, still vivid. Anyway, tough night for you but hang in there and regroup mentally. We've all been there my friend. Best of luck!

    In Tommy Angelo's outstanding "Elements of Poker" he speaks of reciprocity and finding advantages outside of standard play against your opponents. He encourages becoming the best at taking breaks, and I've taken that to heart. Learning to get up from the table and go for a walk; it helps you when you take better breaks than your opponents. It also teaches you that standing up isn't the end of the world, and soon you're leaving games in spots where your opponent would keep playing and losing. All of this gives you another piece to your edge at the table.
    Your closing statement shows you understand this value, so incorporate taking a break into your everyday game, practice it and make it more natural so it becomes a tool when you're on tilt. It's made a huge difference in my game. The time I spend at the tables I'm playing my best and when I'm playing my worst I know it's time to leave and fight another day. Great stuff as always Lex, really enjoy your content.

    Great vlog, Lex although this was for sure a terrible night/session! Thanks for being so honest and transparent! It makes me also thinking about my play in terms of not playing when you are some kind of distracted with other things. I am far away playing poker for a living but also have/had some sessions where I should have called it a day when facing tilt. So, it is was it is and try not to get this night into your head. Try to shake it of, take some break and think more on your extremely good year as you said in the beginning. Mathematically you are still over 96% ahead this year. So, just stick to that and see you in your next video ☘️

    The grind !!! I can tell you many things I do even if we don’t tackle the same market.
    First poker, there will still be a game the next day.
    Don’t play if your tired, angry or hungry.
    Preparation is key, (meditation, relaxation, prayers)
    I think you are pretty good at self evaluating yourself. Be accountable to it or find someone to be accountable to and ask yourself, Am I in the zone? Do my edge is still there?
    Anyways, a lot easier said then done but keep a student attitude, I cheer for you.

    6:00 when the top card pairs it means villain will have a harder time folding second or even 3rd pair OTR. Let alone if he had an ace that was starting to get uncomfortable he’s just never folding, so almost all hands in range other than missed flush draws and missed gutshots (which u block) are just sigh calling or snap calling. Very hard to check back queen high though

    I've always really appreciated your videos for your absolute transparency good or bad. I could sense your impatience and growing agitation at the first game and I would not have gone on to play the 2nd game, especially when the gas station is closed and then there's a major traffic jam and you can feel the agiatation and negstive thought building. You're a better player than I am, but I've always been very good about being honest with myself as far as where I'm at mentally and just not playing on the days where I feel impatient/agitated with factors away from rhe table because I feel it usually makes me play to aggressively, which usually doesn't work out well.
    Good luck next time.

    My way of playing when things start going wrong is to retreat and play small pots, check and call or fold, until things turn around. I feel it is ok to make big bluff only when the session is in your favour. When it's not, most of the time players are going to outplay you and only call with strong hand because they perceive you as being on some tilt, trying to recoup your loses in one shot, which you are going to be most of the time.
    Play big when the table is good, play small when its not!

    Pineapple bomb pots should be called “grenade pots” after the old Mk 2 fragmentation grenades (they look like pineapples). Trademarked here.

    I took a break from poker I am down like $1000 in 3-4 weeks no matter what my plays aint working or my opponent just have it. Sometimes it's good to take breaks for a like month then come back when your ready. Everyone goes on a downswing or really bad days.

    Make a set of personal poker rules. Many you mentioned in this video are on my list 👊

    Lex,
    Love the no helmet policy. I think it's everyone's choice and good for the gene pool too.

    Thanks for posting. Now I know what not to do. Ouch. Two bad sessions on the same day has to hurt.

    Hang in there Lex - I guess it’s best to listen to your body and emotions and know when it’s best to simply take a day off and mentally recharge. Better luck next time! ♠️♠️

    lex o, i am down 30 k online in the last few months, between sports betting and poker. one of the biggest losses of the whole amount was a 13k day between 3k sports bet and tilting off 10k. similarly, i had life stresses and relationship issues at the time along with other familial stressors. i found that it’s easy to blow money when your angry at a girlfriend or wife and play terribly, this is the wrong time to be playing poker. in my entire poker career, i have never lost that much in a given day, and the realization is that when your kind state is bad, your poker playing will be too. hope you can recover and get your confidence back. it’s highly demoralizing.
