      The MB paper is toothier, much more textured than the other two papers. If smoothness doesn’t matter, go for it. I have a more in depth paper analysis video coming out later this week, if you’re thinking about buying some, more focused on the writing experience. And thank you!

    What an awesome comparison between the papers! I have heard the MB can show off different characteristics in an ink and this definitely shows that. I’m fascinated with your comparisons and look forward to the paper video. I’m not a big fan of textured paper for everyday writing and journaling, but I think a small notebook with this paper might be just the thing to play a little. 😸
    And I love hearing about your adorable cat trying to get your attention by poking at you. I had a cat who would get my attention in just the same way. Wonderful memories that make me laugh. And the purrito for nail trimming sounds awesome.
    Thanks so much for sharing! 🤘🏼😸🖋

      Thank you! It’s different, and I’m putting up a video later this week comparing the writing experience of the three papers. If you don’t like toothy or textured paper, hold off, as it isn’t smooth like the other two.

    I’m a big fan of inks that look like baby poo and bug guts. All of these are so beautiful. I think chromo-shading just became my favorite ink feature.

    I'm confused as even. Fountain pen ink, right? So how does swatching help? How do these inks look on paper, even the best paper, when written with a fountain pen with the extra fine, fine, medium, broad nibs and not the back end of the pen?

    • @ThatLoganChick000
      @ThatLoganChick000  Рік тому +4

      Swatching is more about an initial exploration of the ink colour, thus the larger laying down of ink. Writing samples do help, for sure, but every nib is different. Sometimes a wet EF will write like a dry M, and that type of sampling would thus mean using the same consistent pens with every ink, involving a lot of pen cleaning in between. So for a quick viewing of the ink to establish just colour and shading, sheen, or shifting properties, swatching is an excellent start.
      You might want to try gadgetstop321’s videos, as she explores one ink per video in multiple pen nib widths.

      @herrsteppenwolf Рік тому +1

      I understand all that, and I'm not criticizing. It's just I write with multiple pens, nibs and paper and all these different ink properties are only seen in swatches and rarely when written out in a letter or journal entry.

    • @ThatLoganChick000
      @ThatLoganChick000  Рік тому +6

      True. Sometimes what we see in a swatch just doesn’t ever show up in the writing. I thought the Sailor Yurameku inks would be like that, colourful in swatches, then grey in writing. But then I tried Seki on Mitsubishi Bank paper. Holy cow, all the swatch colours show up in writing, even with only a medium stub nib! For future videos I will now take the time to at least write out the name of the ink in a fine or medium nib, off camera so as to not add too much time to the video. The writing sample will be small, but it will be representative of a more realistic writing experience.
      The other thing I’ve noticed is that glass dip pens, used by so many for swatching, tend to lay down the ink much thicker than normal fountain pens. So I feel my my Serendipity dip pen with nib and feed is a slightly more representative option. I’ll keep using it.

    I love the colors you swatched for us! (Most are on my wishlist, so you really stoked my fire here.)
    I especially love the way they look on the Mitsubishi Bank Paper & of course, the Tomoe River. Not sure if you told us the gsm?
    By the by…I adore your sense of humor.

      Thanks for your comments. The TRpaper I used is 52gsm, and the Mitsubishi Bank paper is 87.9gsm, which is so hard to remember I had to go look it up. I’m really strugglinh not yo ink up all these colours at the same time!

      And indeed…The struggle to resist ink slinging is real! I find myself doing swatches & writing samples ¤tly inked pages on the daily. All of things I’ve already catalogued, mind you. (I only have about 7 bottles.) 😅 With all the inks you’ve got, you could have a real field day! Yikes! But yay! Slippery slope, I suppose…

    I have watched this video for the second time to make some notes. Thank you for this comparison video!! It is so fascinating. So far I am only able to get the 87. 9 gsm Mitsubishi bank paper in a sample pack(Yamamoto) here in Australia. Hopefully next year there will be a journal available to buy. I love playing with inks on different papers too. It' ll be interesting to find out if you had any standout inks( rediscovered?) for 30inks/30days. I really like Robert Oster Sublime💚🙋🌻

      Thanks, Tanja. I’ll do a 30Inks30Days summary at the end of the month. There have been a few that I forgot how much I liked. I’m especially looking forward to this weekend as those two colours are old favourites, Diamine Espresso and Dark Forest.
      I do hope you Australians get more paper options. In Canada we’re lucky to be so close to the States, as we’re a paper desert here. Although we get hit with brokerage fees for items crossing the border, which sucks.

Thank you for sharing 💕 Also, I like the natural flow and vibe of your videos - but if you did want to trim anything out of your recordings (and you don't want to do preproduction) you can always use the UA-cam Editor in your studio after you upload - here is a pretty good little tutorial I found ua-cam.com/video/17NlVdlo_Tg/v-deo.html or you can just search for "How to Use The UA-cam Studio Editor" and it should give you some helpful results.
