Preparation of aappam without grinding using only rice flour is shown along with Ishtu and sweet coconut milk in this episode. Aappam is a traditional breakfast recipe made by soaking and grinding raw rice,boiled rice and coconut. It is then fermented and aappam is made using a special iron pan called aappachatti.
This is an easier no grind method for making appam. Raw rice flour is used for making this easy recipe. Ishtu is a coconut based stew for aappam. It is very popular in Kerala. Traditionally aappam is had with sweetened coconut milk or Thengaipal in Tamilnadu. Jaggery and cardamom are added to coconut milk, poured over aappams and relished. .....Ishtu is just stew just like how some people still say ischoolu for school...I guess it was an early language adulteration just like how Kerosene oil became Krishnayil and Hernia became Hiranya...The first generations weren't quite acquainted with these phonetic sounds and these words were propagated as a word of mouth...
