I been door knocking on doors over 25 years and stil do it today , One thing you should never ever do is exstand your hand for a hand shake , that's way to close to the customer , Always stay 10 feet away from the door after knocking or ringing the door bell , The customer will always feel better knowing your 10 feet away to give them plenty of time to close thier door, If your right there in thier face exstandijg your hand , that's a no no ,

Guys be careful with leaving business cards or flyers at peoples doors. I just went to distribute cards door to door yesterday and immediately someone called me asking me for my permit to distribute “ Handbills”. I didn’t know I needed a permit to distribute cards door to door in Dallas. The lady, Ms.Cathy was sweet and told me to get a permit before any of her neighbors reported me to the local police. I was bummed but of course for the sake of growing my business, legally, I went to the Police Department to apply for a “ handbill distribution permit” . G’luck guys 😁
@@YourUncle8501 yeah that's crazy, in Virginia when I had my lawncare business I would go house to house, knock on doors and if they answer, I'd talk to them tell them I am starting up a lawncare business and looking for more clientele and offer one time, weekly, biweekly and monthly services... if nobody answers I would roll up a flyer and put it in the screen door doorhandle, or between the door knob and wall frame. I would never put anything in the mailbox because it's considered federal property and you can get fined.

I had to do this when I first started but I am so damn glad that is over with.... I averaged one sell out of 15-20 houses I knocked on... I went for obviously dirty ones.... it was a rough road to walk. for sure.
Believe it or not sometimes the best marketing is the one where you wear the dirty clothes you used to clean the neighbors house with. Works for me all the time.

So it’s a yes no maybe so if they want more information then you can give it to them if they don’t move onto the next customer.
You will get into trouble with the post office if you leave it in the mailbox without postage! Print them with an EDDM label on them already and THEN leave it in the mailbox. ;)

Joe G Over here they want a background check finger prints and only if you pass they will give you the permit as a solicitation License which will also need to be paid for in only one county. Every county would need pretty much the same info give or take. It’s not that easy if it was I would of knock on every door I see.
It’s okay, it is not personal. The potential client is rejecting your service not you. Best way to handle a hesitant customer is to leave a positive impression and leave the door open to any of their future needs.
Cody, as a professional and very successful d2d sales person for 23 years, with that being said, couple of pointers....don't EVER use the phrase "be interested"....nobody is interested....it's your job as a sales person to educate and create the interest....the part where you say you hate people knocking on your door selling....well my friend that's a horrible attitude to have, considering you've done the same and are creating door to door content on UA-cam!! Come on brother, that's very hypocritical and degrades the profession as a whole! You should learn to absolutely LOVE knocking on doors!!!!! And neber ever ever stop!! We sell water treatment in Valdosta Ga amd surrounding areas and use all forms of advertising....BUT....knocking doors is time tested, amd it ABSOLUTELY works!!!! I knocking doors ebery single day and have made a tremendous living at it. Funny, we have the same last name lol. Anyways bro....keep up the good work and polish up on thise d2d skills!!! It's a very perishable skill!!!!
