It was more to do with the direction of through. My pupil was throwing it left of target and the drill was to get it to through it towards the target. Very similar to you pointing the club at target but with release it
Excellent analysis Alistair on "throwing the club" at the target! I think too often, amateur golfers deem the ball to be the target, when it reality, it's the green that is; therefore, by "throwing the club" you have transferred the target. Something we should all be planting into our subconscious! I know I will! Good Job Alistair!!
Alistair, really good swing thought here. I remember one of your videos a couple months ago where you suggested visualizing ball strikes for irons several inches in front of the ball and not to focus on the ball. That visualization has helped me. But the notion of "throwing" the club down the target line seems even less ball centric which I think smart. I'm going to give this a try. Thanks much.
I have read this in a book called extraordinary golf which is all about the mental side of the game. I have used it successfully with a pupil. We used an old club and through it down the range.
Clarification....It's not a cast if you shift and rotate, in fact you want to throw the club ASAP as long as you are shifting and turning (like skipping a stone or throwing underhand). Yes it's a cast if you stand there and just throw it...btw love the videos
Thanks, the trail arm should lengthen and trail wrist but trying to do it normally leads to overactive release. Yes if the shift and turn is great it’s harder to overdo
Thanks for watching Do you throw the club in the right spot!

Question: Do you throw with right hand (dominant hand) for right hand golfer?
Yes I do but can be individual
