    A colt that looks worn is just gorgeous.

    105 years later and you have a handgun you can still carry and trust your life with it. I’m an old revolver guy but I also have an obsession with the 1911 A1 Government Model 45. I like them in their original form, I don’t like all the modern upgrades. I have an exact copy of the 1911A1 my grandfather used against the Japanese in 1945 on the battle of Okinawa. That’s my EDC. I also have an old picture from 1918 of my Great Grandfather proudly holding up his original model of 1911.

      they called the 1911 "old ugly" at one point? never seen a gun more beautiful than it, so idk what sense that nickname makes

    I know there are a hundred 'better' guns out there nowadays but I still love how those look. No frills, just metal and 7 rounds of 'Sit the fuck down, Nazi'

    Try a heavy recoil spring - that has fixed the problem for me twice- Springfield Garrison

      In this particular instance I have determined it is definitely a magazine issue, it cycles properly on any magazine but this one. Thanks for the tip though!

    Do you get some hammer bite when shooting that? Is the 1911A1 better?

    • @GreatNorthwestWeaponry
      @GreatNorthwestWeaponry  Рік тому +3

      I haven’t experienced hammer bite yet, it’s much more of a concern if you hold too loose or too high (high and tight is of course what you want, but too high and it will get you) I have not personally shot an A1 as I don’t own one, in my opinion the original M1911 is a much prettier gun but the alterations to the design were largely actual improvements. From my understanding, hammer bite is less likely with the 1911A1 as the beaver tail was extended

      @@GreatNorthwestWeaponry Thank you I've never fired a 1911 type pistol. I actually like revolvers more because I can shoot them better. I've had problems with my dads S&W 5906 pistol with jamming.

    How did you drop the hammer without engaging the grip safety?

    • @GreatNorthwestWeaponry
      @GreatNorthwestWeaponry  5 місяців тому +1

      It’s actually a weird trick I didn’t know about until recently, if you pull the hammer all the way back then pull the trigger while holding the hammer in that way it engages the safety on it’s own, allowing you to guide the hammer forward 👍🏻

      @qtheqman3341 it’s so easy it’s almost upsetting when you figure it out right?! I was legitimately mad at myself for not figuring it out on my own lol. Jealous of the A1 btw, need to get me one of those
