Just found your channel while originally looking for reviews on Anker 727. Been using a Old Ravpower 65w 2 usb-c wall charger but lately I have been issues with it for lower wattage applications. With a trip around the corner and wanting to buy a more up to date charger with a power cord. I almost went ahead and purchased a Anker 727 Charging Station until I found your review. I am thoroughly amazed how in-depth the reviews were on different power adapters & chargers. Unlike other reviewers which mostly sums up to "it works" "amazing" "look how fast it charges" while spending a large amount of time unboxing or talking about it but not actually talking about it. The reviews you make are top quality not only the content is digestible making it easier to understand for someone who is not an electrician its straight to the point. I appreciate the straight forwardness a lot. Saved a great deal of time. Dodge a bullet on purchasing the Anker 727 Charging Station and a nice sum of money. Ended up ordering this one and not the Baseus power combo for the better idle power & performance per $. The Power Factor Correction is definitely what I need for my Travel LAN PC & daily use. Efficiently power my portable monitor (been using portable power banks previously) not having to worry about it being overcharged and quickly charge additional items.
Thank you! I am glad the videos are helpful because otherwise there's no reason to make them. I have been looking but the Baseus 100W multiport options are still holding the top spots. They are efficient and functional from my experience. A few people have had issues with them failing early, that will always happen at some rate, but hopefully Baseus can keep improving on the quality side. This specific charger is still one of my go to adapters.
Yooo no one is doing reviews like this on chargers/power adapters. Thank u! You have a nice niche here for YT bc ppl are spending more and more on their tech devices and want to buy quality peripherals. Keep going and your channel will for sure grow 👍 Side note: I've been using this adapter for a few months to sub the heavier Razer laptops' unit so I'm happy to see its freakin good. I saw they now have a 140w lil power house unit. Too bad none of my tech rn charges that high via usb-c, not yet 😝 Thanks again!
Thanks for watching and the great comment! Yeah, the power adapters are upping the watt output but mostly doing so with more ports of the same wattage. A few 140W devices out there now, only three things that can take advantage of that I know about, Macbook pro, Anker power bank, and the Pinecil soldering iron. I am sure this list will explode in the next year or so.
@AllThingsOnePlace a soldering iron?! Dang I don't have one of those lol 140w will be nice for sure. Speaking of power banks, if u review those can u recommend a 100w or 65w one? I have a 65 but it's on the heavy side
Pretty great looking unit; would be nice if it had a detachable AC cable so you could replace/swap with your own (it'd be easier to pack too). I never understood why cabled chargers were considered "desktop" while ones with an integrated plug are "travel". If anything , I want the cable *more* when traveling because that's where I'm likely to encounter outlets in awkward places, adjacent blocked ports, or loose plugs that won't support the weight of a full charger brick hanging off them.
Yep, that cable is the biggest issue with this charger. A removeable lead would probably take up even less space and allow you to bring proper cable connection for where ever you are traveling.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I think a removable lead would take up more space internally; just look at how deep an IEC C14 socket is. A bulky C13 plug also looks a little ugly on a desk plugged in to a little charger like that.
Honestly I was about to spend a lot more in an anker charger because I was frightened about frying my laptop with dubious brands I've never heard of, but then I found this video. Thanks a lot!!!
I bought this adapter a year ago after watching your thorough review and it's been performing well with phones, tablets, laptops. One minus: it doesn't seem to like less sophisticated items like rechargeable flashlights: it continuously starts/stops charging these devices even with nothing else plugged in.
Yeah, I think that is what has improved on the later generations is the compatibility with other devices. This one is good but certainly far from perfect.
@@AllThingsOnePlace but the heat...its kinda worrying n making me think that the heat is because of electric being wasted or its going to cost my electric usage spike
@@naren2389 Nothing ever hits an ideal power transfer. Components have real losses that will always result in some heat being generated. Some components actually get more efficient when they are hot. These power adapters straddle the acceptable limits for heat on the case though. They can certainly hit the pain threshold of human sensation on the outer case. This 100W adapter is impressive though. It is only dissipating 10W to supply 100W which is very good. It also shows just how much power 10W of heating can cause in an enclosed space.
Bought this one for about 42 USD to charge my Lenovo laptop and other gadgets while on the move. Looks like made right choice. About 9 years ago bought Anker PowerPort+ 5 USB-C charger - still going strong. 1 USB-C port is not enough for nowdays. Was an Anker fanboy - wireless speakers, wireless earbuds, all chargers (car and home), powerbanks, cables only from Anker for all my family members. Anker never failed and and works fine.
Wow, yeah, getting 9 years out of a charger is very good and still going, these modern chargers with the high temps and compact designs, jury is out on lasting long. Of course maybe the nature of a channel like this, I get lot of reports of failures. Although, I've yet to see one of mine fail.
Thanks for doing this! I know we spoke about the possibility of your testing this model in the comments on the wall charger Baseus, but I was still stunned to see it pop-up! So cool! I fired up a Patreon. I didn't see a way to do a one time donation to cover the $66 you dropped on that bad boy, so I just did the monthly. I'm so glad it performed well; I would have been embarrassed if it had done horribly since I already admitted to buying two of them! The charger's numbers look great! I'll probably take it on vacation instead of my 5 port gen 1 Anker. Keep up the great work!!! I will send link to this one to my friends so more folks know you're doing these.
Thanks! Yeah, I am diversifying efforts... I added the SUPER feature on UA-cam so people can directly contribute that way, also the DONATE via PayPal is on my webpage, then obviously Patreon for the long term support, which is probably the favored method of a lot of people, I still have a lot to learn about all these platforms. On the power adapter, I was worried about this one with the high input current rating but like many other Baseus adapters this one delivers the quality. I need to test the smaller ones now see if they can defeat the champion of the 65W and smaller class (still held by the Amazon Basics 65W adapter).
@@AllThingsOnePlace Excellent! I hadn't seen the SUPER link. Will check it out! I'm glad Baseus held their own despite the high input rating. They're improving so fast though, I'm not 100% the older 65W ones will be as good, simply because they are older. I have a friend that want's to get one because they are cheaper $37??? There's a wall version too that I can't even figure out how it stays in the wall because it's so long!
My only gripe with this version is the non removeable ac cord. Unlike anker powerport. And as we all know. Cord breaks and may accidentally bitten by pets and pests like mice.
Ahhh. I was about to purchase it... This deters me abit because i'm a clumsy person. You have no idea how many cords i've accidentally pull too hard or twisted it the wrong way and damage it.
This is going to be my next purchase! Only have 60w devices currently but have to be ready for the future & I love the extension & convenience from the wall cord.
Yeah, this desktop adapter is still a very impressive device. It is a bit on in age in terms of it's USB negotiation but I've used all four ports many times and had generally good luck with it.

Hey, I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your charger reviews. They've almost become an obsession of mine-I now want to have a multiport charger in every room! I'm from the EU, and my setup includes a MacBook Pro M3 14-inch, iPhone 15 Pro, iPad, and Apple Watch. After watching your reviews, I decided that 100W chargers should be fine to provide fast charging at almost all times. So, I ended up buying 3 Baseus 100W multiport wallbchargers (although I know you now recommend the Anker 100W, I didn't see the added value to justify the big price difference). I also own the Anker 120W 737 and am quite pleased with it. Recently, I bought the Baseus 100W desktop charger and plan to buy a few more. However, my concern is that even when idling, it feels warm, unlike the wall chargers that stay cold. Does this automatically mean the desktop charger is using more power when idling? Judging by your reviews, it should be the other way around. Should I be worried about this? Also, what would you recommend for my setup? Thanks for your great content!
So, I did notice that the Baseus will stay on a bit more, so about 1 - 1.5W dissipation with the apple cables left plugged in. This should make the charger just warm even with no devices plugged in. The Anker charger also does this, as well as several apple chargers. I started gathering some content on this and I think I did a short explaining this phenomenon. It is normal for the charger to use a bit more power with the cables left plugged in, especially magsafe, apple watch and lightning connectors. USB C to C cables do not have this effect.

@@AllThingsOnePlace thank you. what’s funny is that it stays warm also without any cable plugged in.. My main “fear” is that this means the idle power consumption is not as efficient as thought. But I could be wrong…Baseus 100w wall plug multiport stays cold, even with cables plugged in

Found this: ua-cam.com/users/shortsg4oEjMLygKg?si=0ylNqZo9x8OOAIRx I’ll test it out, but I think my adapter is warm even withour any cable plugged in. What would that mean in terms of cost per year?

So I think I found a problem. Yesterday new baseus 100w desktop charger came in the mail and it has no such problems, so I would say that the first one is faulty since it’s always warm/hot even without any cables plugged in.
Great review! And I went ahead and bought both this and the travel version and love them. I do have a question though... Can I assume all your testing is with US mains voltage? Might the results be impacted in other countries, such as the UK (which I'm in)? just something I'm curious about, but perhaps it won't make any difference.
The results will typically be scaled the same between countries but the 230v values will be different in that the low usage will use more power (less efficient) and the high usage will use less power (more efficient). In general PFC is less effective at higher voltage for small appliances so a little worse power quality but similar range still.
I have been watching your reviews from months now and they are quite technical and in details. But i wonder have you tested the multi port power sharing data as Baseus specially 100W fails in delivering 65w and 30w when 2 C ports r used. Please provide some light in this context or is my adapter faulty.
I was able to get that power mode operating no problem. There is certainly device dependance though. If one device is constantly asking for a different mode the other port might reset in response. Although mode change shouldn't do that, it is really initial communication, so more like disconnect and reconnect that should trigger that. I do check various modes and port sharing. I often don't show all that process though.
Did you test that charger while drawing power from two inputs at once? I had bad experience with the GAN2PRO 65W 3 ports model, where trying to charge 2 power consuming outputs (i.e. laptop+tablet or laptop+phone) resulted in charger refusing to charge any of the outputs. I assume it was related to the total consumption exceeding the maximum power given by the charger (when connecting less power hungry devices, like two phones, it worked fine), but I expect it to throttle the output down instead of not giving the power at all. I've sent the device to the service and they told that it works as expected I would consider this model, but if it works as the abovementioned one, then it disqualifies it for me.
Yeah, USB negotiation is tricky. I do tests with multiple devices and single devices both. I always check how the power changes with different devices plugged in. The 100W adapters are much better than the 65W adapters at this process, that being said they still renegotiate on every plug and unplug of a new device. I have used the 100W adapter with 4 devices though and once they finish the renegotiation dance, all devices charged, my use case was a watch, camera battery charger, phone, and a laptop. I have heard some complaints still, and it is heavily device dependent, that sometimes any usb power adapter can go into a loop. I have occasionally caught it but not on camera and not with this adapter. The power does decrease as you add devices. So, 100 watts becomes 65/30 becomes 45/30/15, and then both USB A ports drop to 10 watts shared or so. It will turn off one of the USB A ports with three devices plugged in. So, short version, Baseus isn't the best or the worst at this. The 65W device struggles to charge more than one thing though since the power levels drop so much with two or more devices plugged in. I really don't recommend the 65W ones from anyone that aren't single port. The 100W ones have enough to do more and I like them because of that. A little more bulk though.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Thanks for the prompt reply! I understand renegotiating each time new device is plugged in, and I understand throttling the output to some limit, but in that case I was really surprised, because as a result it was like "if you want to charge your laptop, you can't charge anything else at the same time". Fortunately for me I could send it back and I've got Aukey Omnia PA-B6S, which is working as expected (if I attach two laptops the power may be throttled, but still I can charge two devices at once). It has 90W though, which may be contributing to better performance. But now I'm on the quest for a second unit, I was considering this Baseus (the AC cable has some advantages), or the Anker 737 (120W), which is smaller, but more expensive, though.
@@kwieto7927 mmm, yeah, the 737 is actually a pretty good device. I finally have some Aukey chargers here to look at. They'll be getting a first look video at some point. I should get it on the calendar since I generally stick to that week by week. Few long term ideas that keep getting moved out.
It would be nice if you noted exactly where each adapter turns on PFC. I'm looking for a versatile power adapter that does decently at the in the 3-5W range. The 100W adapter looks like it could be interesting but there's no info between 0.9-12W range to see where exactly PFC turns on.
There is no reason to have PFC below a certain point but this device turns it on all the time. It isn't very effective at 5W, what it ends up doing is running in discontinuous mode. So, on for a few AC cycles at a time. At 10W it is turned on all the time. It does have a negative impact on the efficiency of these power adapters at 10 watts.
Dont know if I should give Baseus another try after their 120W Galio charger died on me within a year of purchase. Also as mentioned on another video it had some serious coil whine.
I canceled my order of a ugreen 100 watt charger for this one after watching many reviews this one is one of the best performers for the price and it was cheaper got it for $45 off amazon.
How is the leakage current for this one compared to the Apple 90W (bought in mid 2023)? I‘m asking because a skin I have applied to my laptop leads to the leakage current not tingling, but actually hurting. This is why I usually prefer grounded adapters like my Apple one with the extension cord but the Baseus does check a lot of boxes for me.
Hey thanks for the comprehensive reviews... does the wall adapter version have the same stats as the AC cable version found in the US - the one with the AC cable doesn't seem to be available in the UK?
Hi! So just a thought - you're capturing Power Quality numbers at many different wattages for each adapter. Any chance you could turn this into line graphs or curvefit graphs so we can compare their behavior more easily across all power ranges and not just the the average? I've done a little bit of excel for work and labs and would be willing to help. Great channel!
So, there is a database of all the information, data driven, online, searchable, dynamically generated graphs, etc. It has a lot of the things but I don’t explicitly advertise it because it is partially paywalled. I don’t like advertising it since the expectation of people to spend money on things off of UA-cam (hahaha that’s almost all of YT… insert something about shilling a VPN here). I do appreciate the offer to help with time. That is awesome. I need to start making some projects and things that people can help with. All it takes is time. I could start putting the link out there but I probably won’t. It is all in good fun.
There have been a lot of 1 star reviews on Amazon lately reported from long term quality issues. Seems some units have been dying out starting anywhere from 2-12 months :( Hope nothing has changed underneath the charger itself as I am looking to pick one up myself. Do you know if there are any hardware revisions that potentially swap out internal components?
It is a USB Decoy, or PD trigger. I've added links to the newer videos, but those search terms should help you find one. There are a lot of options out there now, that one is the yzx studio one.
@@AllThingsOnePlace hi sir, I'm looking to get a 65/67 or 100w. Was doing some digging ans it seemed that the newer anker has fix max power on their port (vs older 735). Example that I know is. Anker actually removed the word dynamic on their newer products. Though the old ones are harder to find now and I'm seeing them from 3rd party sellers
There are a ton of options out there. The supplied 100W Baseus cable is okay. I use Satechi cables quite a bit. I seem to be sending a lot of people here lately. www.allthingsoneplace.com/usb-cables
Great review…Seeing this video I want it for my macbook pro mid 2015 but macbook pro adapter is of 85w(20V and 4.25A) do you think this will be a good match and won’t damage the macbook or should I look for something with exactly 85w….and also please suggest me some cable which are usb-c to magsafe2 T port. Thank you
Would this be good for powering two Apple HomePod minis, a Nintendo Switch, and switch remote charger? The reviews focus on charging, but I’m looking for something to supply constant power.
hmm, the issue is probably when you remove one of the things and it renegotiates power. The homepods will be resetting a lot. The switch shouldn't care since it has a battery built in.
@ that’s what I thought. I may keep the switch on its own power source and leave the other devices on the Baseus. I have one coming in a few days and will test what happens when I remove the switch. Also looking to get a satechi and can compare them both in this application.
thanks for the reviews. i've been watching ur review but couldn't find info about the baseus gan5 pro 100w charger. what's the difference with this one?
No idea, I can't seem to get that one to check it out. I have looked at two GaN5 devices so far and both were worse but that doesn't mean the 100w one is worse also.
Hey there, congrats on the great review! I've one question, though. I got one of those and it gets veeeery hot, the hottest I've ever seen a plug like these get. Do you know if that's normal? The load was around 65W in 20V profile
I have a lenovo 5 pro laptop, when I play a game using this Baseus power adapter, it stops working until I stop the game. If I use a small lenovo 65w power adapter (using the proprietary connector) I can still play the game but at low FPS (the battery isn't used though which is great), I'm wondering why the USB-C behaves differently?
Great review! I've been binge watching your videos all day to find out which chargers to buy :) Dumb question, can you elaborate more on real power vs apparent power and how it affected the electricity bill? thanks for the great work!
Great Review wish you would mention which chargers are suitable for international use (220v). It says 120v so I am assuming this would not be good for international travel?
I don't recommend these for international use, just due to the leakage figures being a bit higher than some other options out there. This is subjective though. There are european specific models as well which are really the same device with the proper cord end on. These work on 220v.
I'm having trouble charging this power adapter with my USB-C to Lightning cable. USB-A to Lightning cable works well. However, charging through USB-C ports doesn't work. Do have the same issue? Btw, here is my devices: - Baseus 100W GaN 3(EU version) - iPhone Xs - iPhone 12 Pro Max - Apple USB-C to Lightning Cable(comes with iPhone 12)
That is certainly not normal. I don't have any issue with the USB C or A ports connecting to my iPhone (it is an older one but it does negotiate PD 9V mode).
Good thing I watched this video. I had the blackshark funcooler 4pro. It is a phone cooler that draws 27W (9v 3a) to cool down the phone. I used the Bavin 33W adapter (newly bought) but it gave up right away. It’s dead within an hour of usage. The adapter became too hot and then it’s dead. I will try this one for my cooler as well
I guess i'm quite late for this review, but it gives me a bunch reason to choose one of the best multiport chargers. i've been using anker powerport 5 for more than 5 years and now its start to get mulfunction and it can't give me enought power to juice up my gadgets now a days.. Inspite of many other reviews i find your channel very interesting and evidence base review..thank you for every great video you created..God bless
Yeah, this can do 100W no problem, if the Pinecil hits it with 100 watts of instantaneous load it is going to read that as an overload.. Sounds like if it does a little slower turn on time (imperceptible to user but big difference to the power supply), It'll probably not trip protections. I thought the higher wattages needed the EPR mode though, 28V. I've been meaning to mess with that for a long while now.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Pinecil v2 with low ohmic tips consumes max 65W at PD 20V. This Baseus is 65W per port, 100W is the sum, please check description carefully. I also was thinking it is 100W, its smart chinese;) For me interesting is real power checking with load module.
@@Viktorherenowhere The Baseus is 100 watts on each port with one port in use at a time, that is how I tested it. As soon as you plug in something else it does drop to 65W or less depending on how many things are plugged in. So it should work fine, anyway, I have one to test at some point, and I want to push the wattage up with an EPR adapter.
I'm have the same issue with my Pinecil V2. It keeps resetting. Seems like it triggers a reset as soon as it hits temp and cuts power. I don't know enough to understand what's going on. Did you just get yourself a different USB charger?
@@ahn9483 Yes I found better charger for Pinecil with lower price: Asometech Gan 65W wall charger, 2 USB-C + 1 USB-A. (6-8usd in the Aliexpress, use coins to buy.) Baseus remains as Lenovo laptop and smartphone charger.
Are your tests valid as well when using these adapters on European 220-240V? Ideally I'm looking for a 100W charger that comes with adapters / different plugs for travelling like the Minix P3 but it looks like these kind of adapters lack in quality.
In general switching power supply devices will perform a little worse on 230V unless they are specifically designed to operate from 230. The efficiency can be better but it is washed out if the power factor and other harmonics stay very high. Thankfully, residential customers don't pay directly for power factor but you do pay for real losses from poor power factor. A device at 170 would drop to about a 150 on the scoring system.
@@juliauwanto I have started to test newer devices (that perform well) at both voltages/frequencies. I haven't gone back through the backlog for time constraints.
Excellent review! Gives me confidence in my purchase! Was definitely disappointed by the Samsung 65w I bought earlier before checking any reviews. Thanks!
I know there is the GaN 2 with integrated plug. I haven't seen a GaN3 version of it though. In my testing I've found Baseus, or their OEM, switches things up in every adapter model. So, one might be great and the next is not great.
About 4 feet (1.2 meters) not that long. This charger is a good choice to leave plugged in. Some of the other bulkier chargers tend to fall out of the wall, see anker 747 with the donut... Anyway, this charger has low idle power consumption. It is safe for leaving plugged in as well.
Great review and test. I just picked up the newer version that includes two 5-15R receptacles and it will become my main power supply for the office/lab. It was only $10 more than the one you tested/showed here. It appears to be exactly the same as this one (except for the additional AC outlets). I can plug in my travel charger into the side and now get a dual 100W setup and still have an extra 5-15R available.
Yeah, I've noticed the major brands adding the power strip to these adapters recently. Not a bad feature, especially if you have a lot of accessories to plug in. I will probably pick one up eventually.
I also purchased the version with the additional NEMA 5-15 outlets. Since I also need the proprietary Dell 140w USB-C charger, it's very handy. Hopefully Dell laptops will support PD 3.1 soon...
Hey, I purchased this and for the past two months it has been working great. My only gripe is that sometimes the USB-C and Lightning connectors (side that plug into phones or laptops) electrocutes me (small zap) when touching directly to skin. Any idea why this may be? Will happen regardless if something is using other ports. Thanks
I tried to use USB C 1 port for my laptop but it did not work but it is fine for my phone and tab. Is it normal?? Taking into account USB C 2 is fine for my laptop.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Thank you for your reply. I bought it just before a few days. I think the Gan 3 Pro desktop is similar to the Gan 6 pro desktop now, where the C2 has a small graph of a laptop and the C1 has a small graph of a tablet. I think they changed the protocol. Did you try the C1 for the Gan 6 pro desktop and it charged a laptop. Thanks.
I just ordered one on AliExpress and USB C2 has a sticker that says for laptop while USB C1 is for phone/pad/others. I hope it works that way with no disappointments.
This supports PD 3.1, it doesn't support EPR though. When the product was launched it was PD 3, but the standard gets updated and added more things, but this still supports the latest version up to the 20V PD fixed mode and 21V PPS mode. The Anker 140W charger may have some reliability issues.
Great video, as a suggestion, you could like make an extended load test to this 100w chargers,... like put them in full load and see for how long they can continuously output 100W and how much do they heat up outputting 100W for long periods.
Yeah, it is true these aren't made to supply 100 watts all the time. I do some longer time tests, I leave them on for a while, but I generally don't show anything in the video and it's at a lower wattage than full. I have seen a lot of power supplies with a time constant on them. For example, 200 watts for a time period, then in fine print, 150 watts full time with 10 CFM of constant airflow. This Baseus has done well for me though, when I do long term charge tests I do tend to put a fan over the power adapter. In general with the capacity limit of 100 watt hours for most laptops and mobile electronics I think a 1 hour test is probably reasonable. I expect some won't make it that long, and if they do, they won't do it in the long term.
Do you guys know if where to get the ac cord for this type of charger (not this one in particular)? Is there is technical name or standard for such ac cord? BTW, how about the EU conversion plug heads?
You could cut the end off and add a 3rd party plug end I guess (if you know what you are doing). The cord itself is not interchangeable on this power adapter which is it’s biggest downfall. I want to check out some of the adapters for travel but haven’t yet.
I've done a couple as reviews of the USB side but I don't have proper surge testing equipment, this will also destroy the units. Getting proper impulse amplitudes and rates into the devices is very expensive and the equipment is very large. Transient testing in the future for sure but it is a ways off.
I impressed by your review and purchased the same model but I am facing issues .. I connect My MacBook Pro and it charges at 100w and as soon as I connect my iPhone with second USBC my MacBook Pro reduces to 30W charging. I switched both USB C ports as well but same result. What could be the reason of limiting my MacBook pro charging to 30W
Yeah it’s the biggest issue with this charger. It struggles with multiple devices and full power delivery. It still works but the power level does drop.
@@MImranIqbalofficial It changes based on where you are. For me the Baseus is among the top. It isn't amazing on 230V AC though, as it has some leakage issues at higher voltages. The Satech is in a similar boat. My international travel device is the Anker 100W Prime.
I'm still using mine, but it's lasted longer than the average I'd say. These do have a high failure rate in the field it seems, that or people complain more when they inevitably fail. A long term study of reliability is really something manufacturers should be doing and providing to customers, it's actually harder than ever to do this since there are so many parameters, use cases, and components inside, evaluating MTBF is difficult.
I have some here to test. The 140W is a clone (see any of the 140W PD3.1 videos, latest one shows the clones). But yeah, Shargeek will get their day soon enough both on the power bank and the power adapter side.
@@AllThingsOnePlace : Haha…Well, I have watched all your reviews and you do have some good ones like Satechi, Baseus and UGreen. Would you do an international giveaway?
Hello, which charger do you recommend to charge samsung s20 cell phone, Anker sound box, and headphones? I'm in doubt which one to buy with so many options, I appreciate if you can help me...
I have a Quest 3 and the Q3 is notorious for being unable to charge while in use. I have a PD pass-through charging link cable (I only use the Quest 2 and Quest 3 for PCVR) that says it can support up to 100 watts. So with the Q2 power brick rated for but supplying less than 10 watts, and Q3 rated for but supplying less than 18 watts, I'm like screw it. I'll get a 100 watt supply that actually supplies 100 watts. Thank you for this video, you helped me make a purchase. All of the ones I had been finding top out at 65watts despite the 100 watt rating.
There’s some heavy marketing in power adapters too. Any time you use more than one port the power to a single port will drop to a lesser value usually 65w.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Well, this one seems to keep my Quest 3 charged 100% while using it with the charging link cable I have. The itty bitty "18Watt" wall wart that the headset came with doesn't. So I'm very happy. Again, thank you. And I'm aware that charging more than one device often lowers the available amperage. I'm only using this as a power supply for my Quest 3 headset, which I'm treating as a PCVR headset. I really couldn't care less about the mobile capability.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Little update... The setup I had doesn't work, but it does work now. The cable I had bought was a QC only cable and so it kept the headset charged for about 6 hours of play, but not indefinitely. I changed to a PD capable cable and it works fine now, using this Baseus adapter. I need to find a QC one though because the PD cable is 16 feet and the QC cable is 20 feet.
I would really appreciate if I could get a recommendation from you on Anker prime 100w vs this Baseus one. I am looking to buy one. I am absolutely clueless so please help :)
The Anker is a bit more modern, so may have better USB compatibility. The Baseus is known to have some quality issues but it is more energy efficient. Both get a little hot at full load.
The wall adapter does sit around 0.24, the desktop one I've found is a little lower. It is a bit on the high side but far from the worst and not indicative of a problem.
Yes, that is one issue with many USB devices. Nearly all of them operate that way. Even at 200W, if you use more than two ports the port sharing show begins.
@@AllThingsOnePlace been looking around the market for usb ups at minimum 30watts for 3 second - anti interupt. another issue with my Goal Zero battery bank that allows intellegent pass through charging also cuts the power when a charge load is added. Really just want portable projects that never need to be turned off. guess i cant find myself with nice things :(
It was working for a while for me until recently it just refuse to charge my HP G440 G8. Have even tried rotating cable orientation and different cables. Powered off laptop doesn't work as well. 😢
Yeah, that should be an easy to charge device so it is unfortunate the charger stopped working. There is always some failure percentage of electronics and I think Baseus is a little higher than the average on that rate. They make a good product but have quality control issues.
@@alanchoy9101 Now that is just weird. I mostly use a USB C to barrel adapter for my HP laptops since they do not behave well with USB C unless it's from a docking station.
@@AllThingsOnePlace im about to do this as well lol, barrel to usbc since my work laptop doesnt support usb c charging. THAT should be the new standard, why do they even still use barrel types??? that would be a good video!
sometimes with this adapter it happens that when using only 1 usb type c port with my laptop or a power bank the charge restarts 2 or 3 times before finally starting to charge. I understand that gan chargers must be reset 1 time when you plug something in but 2 or 3 times is normal? Thanks
Hi, I bought two of this 100W chargers; while being plugged, I get shock on laptop and on phones body. I used the tester and it lights up on just touching the USB cable connector (not the actual wires). Is this normal or is it just for me?
It means there is excessive leakage to earth. I haven’t experienced that with these chargers myself but I would check with the manufacturer because that could be a defect and may warrant replacements. It shouldn’t leak anywhere near enough to turn on a usb tester.
It depends on what's plugged into it, like if an apple lightning cable is plugged in to the USB C port all the time, it will keep the charger active so yeah, it will stay slightly warm all the time. If there's nothing plugged in at all, it shouldn't be getting significantly warm. It is still dissipating about 0.2 watts so technically it will be warmer than the environment but not by much.
@ it stays warm even with all cables disconnected. I just noticed this. I’m sure this is a new development as I would have noticed it in the last year. I think I’m going get rid of it as something inside must have failed. I cannot trust it anymore. My AOHI 120W desktop charger stays stone cold whether it is idle or charging a device.
Hey, I was wondering about buying multiport charger. I watched a few your videos (good job), but I have some questions: - how this charger is different from Baseus CCDK100UE? - could you somehow point me to explanation of PQS? - what is your experience with Baseus products? Mine is pretty bad, I have bought a few cables from Baseus and I think I had problems with all or almost all. I saw multiple reviews about defective chargers/ports, even a few about exploded electricity sockets. I'm a little scared to use their products. On the other hand I saw that the final score for Samsung T6530NBEGEU wasn't that positive but I never had any issues with any of Samsung's chargers. - could you tell me how port resetting (after connecting new device) affects device's and it's battery condition? Thanks
I think these are the same device, one has the cord for the EU market though. PQS is supposed to be a bit more of a simple way of combing the various power metrics into a single number rating. It is still a little too complicated I think and likely headed for some revision in the future. My experience with Baseus products has been surprisingly good. I do make sure I get official ones. There were a bunch of fakes on Amazon and other market places for a while. Price seem to good to be true, then it probably is. The USB cables that come with the official power adapters have all been good USB C cables, charging only, no data. I tested some of the stand alone cables not impressed with them really, there are better options out there. The Samsung 65 watt adapter is certainly safe, it is just not as efficient and good of a performer as even the 45W versions. I expected incremental improvement here not less performance. So, I was probably a bit harsh on that one on the opinions side of things. It is fine, if its working, stick with it. The port resetting only becomes a problem when a certain mix of devices enters into a loop. Constantly turning on and off. I have only found this once or twice on really inexpensive chargers so very rare. The one time reset on a plug and unplug just restarts the charging process once and that is okay. If a little annoying as all the other devices may flash screens on or make noises. Sometimes ports turn off when charging completes which can trigger this cycle again. Sometimes in the middle of the night.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Thank you for taking the time to respond to this, I really appreciate it. Regarding the PQS indicator, I was mainly interested in whether chargers with a lower value can negatively affect the condition of the device or its battery. Forgive me for my lack of knowledge. I am currently using a Samsung charger with 25w. According to local prices and promotions from official distributors, both chargers i.e. CCDK100UE and T6530NBEGEU are available at virtually identical price. In the coming days/hours I will try to choose which one to buy. The target use is to be able to charge two smartphones simultaneously (Samsung S23Ultra + S21Ultra) and optionally one/two smartwatches (Galaxy Watch 5 Pro and/or Polar Unite). I'm just tired of constantly switching cables/chargers depending on what device is currently being charged. To be honest, we rather use the "slow" charging mode because my girlfriend and I work remotely, and I'm clearly nuts about taking care of my devices, hahah. Resetting or the possibility of resetting entering a loop mildly concerns me. If you had alternatives worth recommending, I'd love to see their reviews starting with a videos on your channel :)
@@albertkisiel4346 Yeah, slow mode charging is always an option if you are near the devices all day. A USB A to C cable should accomplish this. I like the Baseus chargers but not knowing everyone's mix of devices makes it difficult to figure out if this would or wouldn't cause issues in those configurations. There are a few chargers out there that offer lower power on more ports, a lot of them are lacking safety listings and/or are really cheap so I am still looking out for something like that.
Unfortunately, these adapters are made in such a way that they are not really repairable. I don't like this myself but once you crack them open, literally they break open with a crack, then they don't go back together in a way that I'd call safe.
I don't know. I am sure the manufacturer did some kind of MTBF (mean time before failure) analysis. If you are looking for something for full time 100w duty cycle you probably want something larger.
What is the best 65w on the market? I need something smaller and lighter for travel but that also has good reliability and ticks all of your quality boxes
Because of this video, I bought the Baseus 100w and I’m very happy with my purchase.
Great to hear!
@@AllThingsOnePlace Thanks so much for this thorough review.
Can you tell me if this works 220v-110v or is it only for US use?. Thanks

Thanks! Yeah, project farm is great stuff!
Your reviews are so good! A constant stream of coherent, and technically correct information that is efficiently delivered. Music to my ears.
Thank you!
MobileReviewsEh right off the top of my head, and there are others I don't remember the name of.
Thanks for watching and glad I could help.
Thanks for the review! Excellent videos. Important work.
Thanks for helping support the channel!
FYI, looks like there is a new version on Amazon which makes the extension cable optional.
Nice. Thanks for the support! Also, thanks for the heads up! I've been waiting for the newer Baseus stuff to become available.
Thanks for reviewing this.
I just wish it had a removable power cord, but that is a small gripe.
Thanks!! Yeah, I can see the cord being the failure point in the future and unfortunately these are not repairable.
even i don't understand everything. but I love how gadget reviewed by professional in their field.
Thanks for watching!
I just got it about 8hours ago n this video truly made me to believe the time i spent researching before purchasing is valid. Tq bro
Good thing it ended up being good!
@@AllThingsOnePlace 10W 🤯🤯🤯 i appreciate your response and tqvm for the most informative video. God bless 🙌 🙏
Yeah. Good point. If the cable goes on this it’s to the bin.
Need to train your pets and pests (because pests too live in your home. So they need to behave and follow the rules of the home 🤣)

Ahhh. I was about to purchase it... This deters me abit because i'm a clumsy person. You have no idea how many cords i've accidentally pull too hard or twisted it the wrong way and damage it.
Have you found a good alternative that has a removeable ac cord? I am in the same boat.
Thanks!
Thanks for helping the channel!!
This is going to be my next purchase! Only have 60w devices currently but have to be ready for the future & I love the extension & convenience from the wall cord.
I use this one all the time for the extension alone, as many have said, a removeable cord would be nice.
6:52 so 1st place also goes to Baseus? i thought Anker is best, because most people recommend only that brand.
Yeah, this desktop adapter is still a very impressive device. It is a bit on in age in terms of it's USB negotiation but I've used all four ports many times and had generally good luck with it.
Hey,
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your charger reviews.
Bump😇
But I could be wrong…Baseus 100w wall plug multiport stays cold, even with cables plugged in
Found this: ua-cam.com/users/shortsg4oEjMLygKg?si=0ylNqZo9x8OOAIRx
I’ll test it out, but I think my adapter is warm even withour any cable plugged in. What would that mean in terms of cost per year?
So I think I found a problem. Yesterday new baseus 100w desktop charger came in the mail and it has no such problems, so I would say that the first one is faulty since it’s always warm/hot even without any cables plugged in.
I bought one about a month and I love it, I like the brand and have quite a few of their products.🤠
Good to hear validation on it being decent.
I've sent the device to the service and they told that it works as expected
I would consider this model, but if it works as the abovementioned one, then it disqualifies it for me.
Would you recommend this for the Rog ally x or is the ugreen nexode pro 100w better? thank you for making in depth guides like this~!
Dont know if I should give Baseus another try after their 120W Galio charger died on me within a year of purchase. Also as mentioned on another video it had some serious coil whine.
Does it get too noisy when you used it?
This 100w adapter didn’t make any noise during any of my testing. The old 120w one definitely makes noise.
@@elhussin5687 the old 120W did
@@AllThingsOnePlace does the wall plug version has any kind of noise?
@@Chris-zd2zi The 100W wall version is quiet.

Nice! Yeah, deals are the way to go on pretty much all of these.
The Baseus is worse than the Apple adapters, all of them, like an order of magnitude.
@@AllThingsOnePlace That’s a bummer. Thanks for the response!
Also, keep up the amazing work!
Hey thanks for the comprehensive reviews... does the wall adapter version have the same stats as the AC cable version found in the US - the one with the AC cable doesn't seem to be available in the UK?
The wall version is about the same.

I wouldn't be surprised if they made it cheaper on newer revisions. Quality is always a concern from this company.

What is the name of the adapter that changes the voltages?
It is a USB Decoy, or PD trigger. I've added links to the newer videos, but those search terms should help you find one. There are a lot of options out there now, that one is the yzx studio one.
Question, when we say plugging and unplugging, does it include cable only (no device on the other end)?
Cable only is fine, if it isn't a terminated cable (lightning, magsafe, qi).

Thank you
The device won't draw more than it needs and oversizing the adapter is generally good power supply practice so I think this would be a good choice.
Great video! Congrats!
One question: will it be able to charge two macbooks pro at the same time?
It can, but one will charge fast and one will charge slow. It doesn't evenly share power.
Great review, totally buying this, subscribed to
Thanks for watching.
Laptops are known to do that. It is really down to how the manufacturer decides to get power.
Great review! I've been binge watching your videos all day to find out which chargers to buy :) Dumb question, can you elaborate more on real power vs apparent power and how it affected the electricity bill? thanks for the great work!
Yeah, I've had a video for that in the works for a while.
Btw, here is my devices:
- Baseus 100W GaN 3(EU version)
- iPhone Xs
- iPhone 12 Pro Max
- Apple USB-C to Lightning Cable(comes with iPhone 12)
That is certainly not normal. I don't have any issue with the USB C or A ports connecting to my iPhone (it is an older one but it does negotiate PD 9V mode).
@@AllThingsOnePlace Problem solved! turns out cable wasn’t working!
Updates? Do you recommend this as the best 100w charger?
It's okay. As a charger it's great, the issue is they don't last long.
I will try this one for my cooler as well
Interesting, yeah, let me know if it works with that device.
@ it works for my cooler! No issues! This adapter however gets hot. Which is normal. But yeah it works without any issues. Happy with the purchase
Thanks for watching, yeah 5 years is a good run for one of these products.
Hi! Did you ever try the Aukey PA -B7 100W 4 port? Thank you
I haven't looked it yet. It is on the list though. Not sure the timeframe on it though.
I just comented about it yesterday and we got a review today. Love it. Kudos man 👍👍
Haha. Doesn’t happen often but I was not quite ready on what I wanted to get done so this one it is.
Ports load capability checked? Pinecil V2 resets it in PD 20V, with new low ohmic solder tips used.
(6-8usd in the Aliexpress, use coins to buy.)
Baseus remains as Lenovo laptop and smartphone charger.
subbed! can you do a ranking guide on desktop charger?
Yeah, I need to get a new general video out.
Could you test this ?
@@juliauwanto I have started to test newer devices (that perform well) at both voltages/frequencies. I haven't gone back through the backlog for time constraints.
Excellent review! Gives me confidence in my purchase! Was definitely disappointed by the Samsung 65w I bought earlier before checking any reviews. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Do you think the adapter 000401_BS (with an integrated power plug) has the same performance of the one in the video?
I know there is the GaN 2 with integrated plug. I haven't seen a GaN3 version of it though. In my testing I've found Baseus, or their OEM, switches things up in every adapter model. So, one might be great and the next is not great.
Thank you! After my comment I found your review of the US version of that charger.@@AllThingsOnePlace
Not sold here in middle east, hard to get baseus 100 watts+ QC 5.0
Yes, I have seen that this adapter is not available in quite a lot of countries.
how long is the power cord? Besides I do not remove my chargers from power outlet. Is this one safe to keep it plugged to the wall?
Thanks
Capacitance. This one isn't the best for leakage current, especially on 230V. I've added that test to newer videos.
@@AllThingsOnePlace thanks so much for your comment. I appreciate it and the informative videos you make. Thanks again

I tried to use USB C 1 port for my laptop but it did not work but it is fine for my phone and tab. Is it normal?? Taking into account USB C 2 is fine for my laptop.
I think they both should work, but there are sometimes subtle differences between the operation of the ports.
Thanks.
Make sure you measure it.. usbc1 is so low 15w not 100w as advertised.. both ports even worse.
I just ordered one on AliExpress and USB C2 has a sticker that says for laptop while USB C1 is for phone/pad/others. I hope it works that way with no disappointments.
Can you review the new model with the wall outlets built into the sides of the device.
Video is out today on this.
which version of PD supported? and do you think its good choice overall to get anker 737 140 watts charge that supports PD3.1 recharge
Do these ever have coil whine or whatever annoying high pitch noise some junk quality usb chargers make? I think its 12-16khz
This one has been quiet for me.
Have you reviewed the power combo 100w yet?
I did. ua-cam.com/video/tzGwrsq-83U/v-deo.html
Any interest in testing surge protector power strips with USB ports?
I've done a couple as reviews of the USB side but I don't have proper surge testing equipment, this will also destroy the units. Getting proper impulse amplitudes and rates into the devices is very expensive and the equipment is very large. Transient testing in the future for sure but it is a ways off.
I've been looking at the ravpower 100w dual usbc could you review that?
I have that on the list. I think I only have the 65w on hand so far.
@@AllThingsOnePlace what’s the best charger in your personal testing??
@@MImranIqbalofficial It changes based on where you are. For me the Baseus is among the top. It isn't amazing on 230V AC though, as it has some leakage issues at higher voltages. The Satech is in a similar boat. My international travel device is the Anker 100W Prime.
@@MImranIqbalofficialDoesnt it support 65/35 balancing? How does it dropped to 30w?

Yep, the 747 has better power sharing and 50 more watts. It is not a bad choice.
but how long will it last? a week? a month? a yr?
I'm still using mine, but it's lasted longer than the average I'd say. These do have a high failure rate in the field it seems, that or people complain more when they inevitably fail. A long term study of reliability is really something manufacturers should be doing and providing to customers, it's actually harder than ever to do this since there are so many parameters, use cases, and components inside, evaluating MTBF is difficult.
Hey, have u tested Shargeek chargers 65w/100w/ 140watt
I have some here to test. The 140W is a clone (see any of the 140W PD3.1 videos, latest one shows the clones). But yeah, Shargeek will get their day soon enough both on the power bank and the power adapter side.
You have so many power adapters. Could you do a giveaway of some of them?
Yep, that’s one of the plans. Of course I want to give away good adapters and most of them aren’t that, ha.
Probably this Baseus one. Headphones and speaker probably charge at a lower rate and the phone can take advantage of the PPS mode.
@@AllThingsOnePlace So what about a third option which resolves both those issues? Anything you can think of?
@@uk1914 You find that and it'll be at the top of my list. As of now both of these two are the top of the list.
My Basus 100W GaN unit idles at 0.24 W. Is that typical? It moves from zero, to 0.24 after a few minutes.
The wall adapter does sit around 0.24, the desktop one I've found is a little lower. It is a bit on the high side but far from the worst and not indicative of a problem.
i hate that all ports reset when plugging/unplugging. RIP Raspberry Pi
it needs a UPS behind each port
Yes, that is one issue with many USB devices. Nearly all of them operate that way. Even at 200W, if you use more than two ports the port sharing show begins.
@@AllThingsOnePlace been looking around the market for usb ups at minimum 30watts for 3 second - anti interupt. another issue with my Goal Zero battery bank that allows intellegent pass through charging also cuts the power when a charge load is added.

Yeah, that should be an easy to charge device so it is unfortunate the charger stopped working. There is always some failure percentage of electronics and I think Baseus is a little higher than the average on that rate. They make a good product but have quality control issues.

My Baesus 100w desktop charger is always warm, even when nothing is being charged. Should I trash it?
My adepter has PPS mode of 3. 3-20 V =3amp on usb c port one and 3.3-11v=2.7amp on port two, does it supports samsung's 45 watts ?
Nope. That won’t get there. It should work with the 25w mods though.
Hey, I was wondering about buying multiport charger. I watched a few your videos (good job), but I have some questions:
- how this charger is different from Baseus CCDK100UE?
There are a few chargers out there that offer lower power on more ports, a lot of them are lacking safety listings and/or are really cheap so I am still looking out for something like that.
does this adapter can get repaired when broken, mine is had problem in Lighting Indicator and also i cannot used this adapter.
Unfortunately, these adapters are made in such a way that they are not really repairable. I don't like this myself but once you crack them open, literally they break open with a crack, then they don't go back together in a way that I'd call safe.
How long can this adapter take the full 100W load before it burns out?
I don't know. I am sure the manufacturer did some kind of MTBF (mean time before failure) analysis. If you are looking for something for full time 100w duty cycle you probably want something larger.
Thanks for the reply.i would also like to ask why you didn't do a review on xiaomi or oppo's super VOOC charge rs
