I know there are only so many hours in the day, but with these similar devices I feel that a quick and dirty teardown could yield some further insight. You don't even have to film it, just let us know if one has better components than the other. That said, it's perfectly understandable you may not have the time to do this - and I guess you might not want to ruin these devices :) Either way, thanks!
Yeah, I like to do teardowns, and generally I'll get the camera going if I do, cause why not? But yeah, it is time. I do like to resell some of these also, cause yeah, no one needs this many power adapters, ha.
You really miss the point of the Anker power base here. Plugging Type C cords into ANY power bank or phone can wear out the port over time and, therefore, make the device unusable. By creating a base for its charger, Anker has solved that problem. Also, the base saves time. If you come home from a trip and need to charge your power bank, you simply set it on your 100W base and voila, you're charging. No getting out a Type C cable or putting a cable back after you are done. The base also gives you the convenience of multiple charging different types of accessories without pulling out your power bank. So having it on your desk is well worth the small space that it takes up. Really, it appears to be a genius idea in many ways. Further, if you are going on a trip and you want a 100W charger, the Anker power base is about the same size as many plug-in chargers, so you can substitute it for a plug-in charger. Granted you have to mess with the chord, but then that is a minor inconvenience and it gives you more flexibility when using it. I think the Anker base charger is a brilliant idea when paired with their Prime power banks. It's not designed to be a stand alone power brick as its main use. So you are kind of comparing apples to oranges.
Thanks for your videos. At the end, I bought anker2343. It is the smallest, most practical and modern. It may consume a couple of extra dollars a year, but I don't have to carry a brick. Greetings from Mexico

I was honestly surprised the Anker has PFC at all, given it's cheaper than the Prime 100W wall charger with the same ports yet has the charging base for the Prime powerbanks.
@@AllThingsOnePlace It's only got a left and right RCA ports on back of it, with a toggle switch on the front with an LED. I suppose it could be some form of pre-amp, I have no idea. It's certainly quite an obscure device whatever it is.

The only problem left with Rocoren now is the renegotiation every time something is plugged/unplugged vs when a device is connected to a cable. This is a big problem if you need the 100W power for a laptop and want to charge another device from time to time. You have to unplug the cable every time from the charger to go back to 100W single port delivery otherwise u'll be stuck at 65W even if not powering a 2nd device.
Yeah, the only one I've found that can deliver both is the 112 watt Belkin, which lacks a lot of PD modes, but it can do 100 watts to a USB C port and 12 watts to the USB A ports. So, it can at least power a couple things at once.
Yes, the 200W class chargers usually have no renegotiation on two uses ports, but then when three are used, they all bounce on and off to figure out what to do.
How does this year's Anker 100w 3-port charger compare to the 120w GaN Prime charger (Anker 737)? The 737 seems like it was the most similar recent charger to this current charger. I guess I was wondering if the improvements in technology of the charger make it less power strain on batteries that we are charging. Of course, everyone's needs are different, but I was wondering if this charger is worth getting. Looking forward to your other videos including whether Anker put power factor correction on the new 67w charger!
Yeah, the new anker 100w wall charger is very good. It is basically the same as the 737 in terms of power quality, but the usb negotiation is improved. Yeah, so many power adapters, maybe that 67w will finally be one I like.
I bought the Rocoren 100w to charge my legion 5 laptop via USB C when im not near my main power supply... But it didn't work. Any idea why? I have a Baseus 65W that works for charging that same laptop, but it really shouldn't be able to... Yet the 100W Rocoren does not? I don't understand.
Yeah, that makes very little sense. Why the Baseus has the protocol and the Rocoren doesn't have what the laptop is looking for. They should be identical in that regard. Laptops are the worst at even stating they will work with any chargers other than their down branded chargers.

It'll charge but how fast is an unknown. It might only charge at 10 or 15W with that adapter since it probably doesn't have the PPS mode with enough power to do 33W. The cable is also an unknown, if it is non-emarked, it might not allow anything except the 5V mode with a PD compatible USB C port. I'm not too versed on the VOOC or similar type charging that is proprietary to those devices.
@@AllThingsOnePlace As I know someone who had a OnePlus phone I looked in to VOOC before. As I understand it, VOOC is somewhat similar to PPS in that to reduce heat they limit conversion happening on the phone by continually negotiating the voltage to be very close to what the cell needs for charging. The negotiation is proprietary although to be fair to one Oppo/OnePlus there was no PPS at the time. Since they reached the limits of what what current a cable could reasonably handle, they then moved on to multiple cells so they could increase charging voltage while still limiting conversion on the phone. At some stage they also introduced pulse charging. I think in theory at least, you can do most of what they do with VOOC with PPS now except that they use higher currents than PPS allows.
Are the any adapters that don't have to do a renegotiation on every plugged in device? For example, if I have my laptop and phone plugged in, the laptop will constantly beep as if it's being plugged in because the phone is trying to be smart about battery charging and frequently changes how much power it's drawing.
There are a couple of options, one is to go with a larger charger, like the 200 watt ones, expensive, or you can go with a really low power charger with lots of ports, which dedicates a few watts to each ports. Neither is really ideal. I'm sure something exists but I haven't found it yet.
QC 5.0 vs Qc 3.0 what’s the real world difference? I never think about charging standard when I plug in my phone. I think I am going for the Baseus 100w as it is, tried and tested
Thank you ! Thank you ! This was one of the differences between Baseus and Roceren. I like that the Baseus comes with a fast charging cable, and while the power cord is not removable the power cord head is flat, so it is easier to manager between furniture and the wall.
The Baseus 100W is on sale so it came below the Price of the Rocoren with a coupon code :) and rhe usual 15 or 20% discount. So out the door for a little less than $40.
Three devices is tough. My go to budget option is the Evatronic 60W power bank. It only has two ports though, you could make some janky solution to split the USB A port I guess and slow charge the two phones, then give the ipad the fast charging port?
I kind of can, I can charge them and measure the energy that goes in with the power analyzer and then discharge them with the equipment I have, the biggest challenge would be getting a connector that fits each battery.
@@AllThingsOnePlace I was more interested in the quality of the electronics in the controller and overall build , I always recommend oem batteries but my customers are hard to convince sometimes
Hello. what do you think about such chargers as Toocki, Asometech, Essager. Their 100W blocks are much cheaper than the same Baseus or Anker by the way. Should I overpay for the brand?
I have heard of those brands. I think there is a limit on pricing for how low they go, some of the real cheap ones have to be old stock or they cut corners on the construction. In the first one, then it's a good deal, it's basically just an old model from someone else. In the latter, I would prefer not to use one myself.
Hi I dont get how the rocoren and baseus are the same. Ive just checked the aliexpress store for both of these and the rocoren is 15 dollars cheaper. There must be something that makes its cheaper no? For what ive seen it looks like baseus do 65/30 with two usb-c. rocoren do 45/45 with two usb-c.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Rocoren has 1.5A input. Baseus has 2.5A input. Both can do 5A output at 20V. Im not good at electronic but what difference would this have on devices being charged?
The device decides how much power it needs, if it uses the standard PD protocol all of these will work with it. I looked on the ROG page and unfortunately they don't tell you anything about what charging protocol it uses and to use their charger only but I have 2nd hand heard that it works with USB PD devices. It is a gamble. I don't have one my self to test though.
My anchor 250 W won’t charge on the top of the base anymore. I was wondering if anybody knows why this is happening and how to fix it please thank you.
I bought the Rocoren as shown in the video, after 2 months and 15 days, my devices (iPhone, iPad) started to turn On and Off and repeat... I am still waiting for warranty :(
Yeah, it's one of those unknowns, there is always a failure rate, I think for Rocoren and some others, like Baseus, it's a bit higher than others, but we have no data on what it actually is. A reason to go Anker the support is excellent as reported by users.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Thanks for your reply, really appreciate. I will keep you posted how warranty claim goes. In the other hand, are there any chargers where once the device reaches 100% of charge then it stop delivering power ? I have a Aukey power bank that behaves this way.
There is certainly some variance. I’ve seen some people say they break in 10 minutes every time to they last years. In general there is a very small percentage of adapters that will actually fail quickly. There are obviously some less expensive options that may use lesser quality components and therefore they fail faster. I have yet to have one permanently fail.
Any chance you could test Chargeasap's Omega chargers? I've been watching your videos to decide which power adapter I should get, but even the ones you'd use my brother claims aren't good, as (he says) the best charger in the world atm is omega charger 200w (which he got on kickstarter).
I added it to the list. I tend to stay away from things until long after Kickstarter to see if they actually succeed. That is an interesting device, I have serious doubts, like it says it works in a 60 degree C environment, it won't or at most not for long, but yeah, not much else provided for specifications so who knows until it gets tested.
I missed this video! That rocoren is going on sale on Aliexpress in like 2 days! Gonna be $5 cheaper. I guess no more waiting for Baseus to do the thing we all wanted.
@@AllThingsOnePlace so I bought the Rocoren and seems like they have QC issues. Mine when sitting idle is at 32oC. Meanwhile my old Anker is at around 23oC. I thought the Rocoren was weirdly warm for doing nothing except having some usb wires plugged in so I got the IR camera out.
I have a Baseus and Ugreen charger, both 100w/20v/5a for my laptop. Is it ok to charge a smartphone with a 100w charger? how long will it live with this mode?
Yes, it is safe. The device decides how much to use. I charge my phone with the 165W adapter and it only will pull the 18W it can use to charge. It is debatable on charging slower being a benefit, depending on what mode is negotiated for, but the actual evidence for this is very limited and speculative in many cases. The battery degrades on every charge/discharge cycle, the battery will degrade slightly faster if charged too fast or overheated or if too cold, lots of variables.
It is, for charging the power bank it is not bad. Someone should reverse engineer it and make something mildly dangerous like a micro rice cooker or something.
The 100W Baseus should work for those devices, but only one at a time at full speed. The laptop is always questionable since sometimes they use a proprietary protocol, even if the port is the same, they make it not compatible with 3rd party power adapters. The Anker 100W prime, the wall version, is the newest and best tech out though, better renegotiation for devices versus the older Baseus devices. Baseus needs to update their 100W lineup for the USB side, the power supply technology is still great though.
The phone decides how much power to draw. The power adapter may have 100 watts available but then the phone negotiates for how much power it actually gets. So, if it only needs 20 watts to charge it will only get 20 watts. The adapter won't force more watts in. Of course there are always exceptions like a failed device or a badly designed one but those cases are rare.
@@AllThingsOnePlace niceeee, just waiting for the rocoren to arrive, just a little worried yesterday because maybe the battery will get damage of too much wattage. But as you mentioned, the phone will decide how much power it will draw. So im good now. Do you prefer rocoren?
@@jmcsm3288 I wouldn't say prefer but in my experience they haven't been bad, but I use my 140W adapter for EPR things and haven't had any problems, it gets hot. Since it is a rebadge, I'm not sure how good things like support or claims are.
@@AllThingsOnePlace brought it already 😆😆, anyways if its not bad, its good for me anyways. 😊😊 i will sell my beasus 65w and will use the rocoren instead. Tnx for this info sir have a good day 😊😊
I want to get the new framework supply. But, as long as 100w is enough to keep things powered really any of the usb c power adapters with high ratings are good. You can spend more for an anker or less for a baseus or rocoren.
so in short the A1902 is not that good compared to A2343 or baseus, rocoren because of higher cost of electricity? maybe the main reason & also it stands out because of the fast wireless dock charge for the anker power banks, other 3 ports means to satisfy customer with that price range (I means no one put so much money for just docking)
I love your research work. But probably won't buy any of those and of course for good reasons. I am hoping you can find some none brand names but equal good products. After all we all have the same obsession about chargers and already have too many chargers sit around. 🙂 As I can see, there are three needs for PD Chargers. 1.) To charge phones/tablets. 2.) To Charge laptops. 3.) To replace many other DC Charger (with different Voltages). For the 1.) & 3.) I think 35W is plenty. (Do you really needs to charge phones and tablet so fast? That create heats that damage phone batteries. 2.) Majority portable laptops now is around 65W. 100W is really in an odd place. If I want to replace some powerful laptops, not so much portable, I need a 200W or 240W chargers. Low end 30W chargers is so cheap and so small, I don't have problem carry extra one just for phone/tablet, in addition to a 65W laptop charger or use my laptop to charge phones. And avoid re-negotiation issue. I have an "ASOMETECH 140W GaN Charger" I use it to charge my laptop of 90W (most of time just use 20W. For $33 a piece, I love it. I don't have equipment to test any other stuffs ( you can). I also own "PD 65W GaN Charger for Macbook iPad Laptop Tablet QC3.0 Fast Charge" for only $15, it does wonder and charges my 65W T580 and 65W X1 Yoga. I am now looking for a PD charger around 30W to replace modem, wife router and fans (to cool it down). All use 12V. I just don't see purpose of 100W.
Yeah. I found that 65w adapters don’t negotiate well with several PD devices. I use all four ports in my 100w adapter regularly and everything charges at good speed. With a 65w adapter I have had some negotiation issues. I agree that the phone and tablet charging does not need to be so fast.
On the safe side, 100W is a safe choice for 65W Laptop. I found 65W laptop using 65W only when laptop need to charge the laptop and using laptop. But of course, many 65W PD chargers do not really provide 65W.@@AllThingsOnePlace

Three devices is tough. My go to budget option is the Evatronic 60W power bank. It only has two ports though, you could make some janky solution to split the USB A port I guess and slow charge the two phones, then give the ipad the fast charging port?
A bit off topic but, I would like to know if you could test OEM vs offbrand laptop batteries?
Yeah, it's just talking about it based on appearance, basically filler. The insides are different enough to be it's own thing.
@@AllThingsOnePlace Rocoren has 1.5A input. Baseus has 2.5A input. Both can do 5A output at 20V. Im not good at electronic but what difference would this have on devices being charged?
@@IceColdFever3520 The input current ratings don't mean a whole lot.
Ugh i subbed because this vid is nice BUT i still dont know the answer my question, will these do 65W charging for the rog ally??????
The device decides how much power it needs, if it uses the standard PD protocol all of these will work with it. I looked on the ROG page and unfortunately they don't tell you anything about what charging protocol it uses and to use their charger only but I have 2nd hand heard that it works with USB PD devices. It is a gamble. I don't have one my self to test though.
Thank you wo much, i love the work you do! Plz do the 100W wires like ESEGAR i have tons of them@@AllThingsOnePlace
My anchor 250 W won’t charge on the top of the base anymore. I was wondering if anybody knows why this is happening and how to fix it please thank you.
Full unplug, wait, replug in everything see if it comes back. Otherwise, get a new one from Anker it should be under warranty still.
Una duda amigo, cuál sería la vida útil promedio de estos cargadores o otros de su clase en general? He escuchado que se rompen fácilmente. Gracias
Hey, can you review desktop charger from Asometech 260w ? Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion. I need to get a few of those bigger adapters in.
6:06 - Loved the Radiohead reference 😁
Yeah, fun to add little bits like that to videos.
1st. Great review like always.
Haven't seen a 1st-er in a while. Thanks for watching.
I missed this video! That rocoren is going on sale on Aliexpress in like 2 days! Gonna be $5 cheaper. I guess no more waiting for Baseus to do the thing we all wanted.
haha
Does your Anker Charging Base heatup whilen charging an anker powerbank using the pogo pins?
Yes, the base in general does get pretty warm. I haven't actually checked if the pins themselves are hot though.
Does anyone know where to find a UK and EU version of the cable for the rocoren?
Monoprice has them.
would you by any chance do a review on baseus blade 2 ?
The blade HD? That video is already out. ua-cam.com/video/k4blN7k97a4/v-deo.html
question, between evatronic and rocoren, what do you think can last for a long time?
Neither. More on that in a future video.
Please Anker A928 140w charging station with LED screen
Yeah, there's always more Anker. I'm saving them for a bit, probably will come out in January or so.
how good is rocoren? i found a 67w one for my steam deck
They are average.
That anker charger is something new
It is, for charging the power bank it is not bad. Someone should reverse engineer it and make something mildly dangerous like a micro rice cooker or something.
Nice vid mate
O
If i want to charge s23 ultra or 65w laptop, can i use 100w cable & 100w baseus charger without issue?
The 100W Baseus should work for those devices, but only one at a time at full speed. The laptop is always questionable since sometimes they use a proprietary protocol, even if the port is the same, they make it not compatible with 3rd party power adapters. The Anker 100W prime, the wall version, is the newest and best tech out though, better renegotiation for devices versus the older Baseus devices. Baseus needs to update their 100W lineup for the USB side, the power supply technology is still great though.
@@AllThingsOnePlace many thanks for this, im going for baseus i guess, half the price of anker ganprime 😅
Just a question, is it ok to charge a phone even if its not capable of 100 Watts? Thank you and more power
Tnx for this info sir have a good day 😊😊
review the xiaomi chargers. Thank you..
I have done one, it was okay, I do need to get more though.
which good rocoren brand or asometech brand ?
Probably about equal, not sure I've looked at anything specifically asometech branded.
What 100w charger would you recommend the most? I want to use it for my new laptop framework 16
I want to get the new framework supply. But, as long as 100w is enough to keep things powered really any of the usb c power adapters with high ratings are good. You can spend more for an anker or less for a baseus or rocoren.
Could u do a review about promate powermine 130❤❤❤
Thanks for the suggestion, I added it to the list. I need to organize the list.
Why you call it "Roceron"?
No idea.
Anker still is my favorite ❤️
They have some great products. They also sell the most, there is a reason for that.
1:29 When you can't even spell Made in China correctly
haha, yeah, that's a good find, I didn't catch that.
What the best ~200w power adapter
No idea! I have tested four and they all had one issue or another.
so in short the A1902 is not that good compared to A2343 or baseus, rocoren because of higher cost of electricity? maybe the main reason & also it stands out because of the fast wireless dock charge for the anker power banks, other 3 ports means to satisfy customer with that price range (I means no one put so much money for just docking)
Yeah, cost of just adding that feature is too much.
Try essager 100w charger, pls
It is on the list. Thanks for the suggestion.
Roceren 100w is 28 euros on sale a lot of the time insane deal imo.
Nice!
Can be had for $17 on AliExpress these days! 😮
@@behindtheeye really? Never seen it that low
@@mrgringo7289I'm seeing it in the "Superdeals" section of the app. As always on Ali, the price fluctuates daily. Worth keeping an eye on!
100W is a nice class, but I'm more of a PD3.1 140/150W guy
mm, yeah. I daily drive the 165W Satechi.
Car charger 12 volt please 🙏
I know. Long over due for a second video on these.
Next ugreen 300w? 😁
I haven't done anything that large yet.
"MAED IN CHINA"... Thanks for the content!
haha, yep.
Hey, imagine that, Anker didn't completely puke its guts out this time, I guess they finally got the memo?
Yeah, this is like the 4th or 5th 100 watt adapter they've released in the last year, one of them has to be reasonable. The 67 watt adapter is still on the way, we will see what that one can do.
What a salty start
I appreciate the honesty though, and I can also believe it too.
Yeah, just having a bit of fun too.
MaED in China - nanami
I didn't catch that, nice.
Recoren won again
Yeah, didn't plan on that after the last 100w round up. The wall adapter was bad, ha.
