They really are, I think Dennis Adler and R.L. Wilson have a bunch of books on black powder revolvers, I own all of them, great reading and photography. Well worth checking out.
It’s basically just engraved with fake pearl grips lol, the timing was perfect out of the box when I got it, I did a tiny amount of filing on the frame the hand and the bolt lock to smooth it up, she’s fires nicely
So far I only have one Uberti (Walker) and it’s very nice. But my 7 Piettas all shoot great and they don’t have the short arbor issue that most Ubertis have. Piettas are probably superior now unless you know how to repair the Uberti problems.
If you like the look of the 1861 Navy you might want to get an Uberti with the correct barrel length. The Pietta version is too long. Check it out here if interested. @rock lick ranch ua-cam.com/video/hf7ERNzOr0k/v-deo.html
Looks like nickel. Love those old charcoal burners, have quite a few myself. Hard for me to choose between the 1851’s and the 1860’s. Want a brace of both actually. Lol.
Old silver is just polished steel.. they do get rust over time and blemishs on them if not polished and oiled properly i have two of them. Make sure you keep it properly oiled all over
That was some nice shooting! I have several Pietta 1851 Navies and they shoot great, as does the 1861 Navy I just got! Old Silver looks nice and shot nicer so if my finances allow I might add one. Great video!
Nice i have one in 36.. wanted 44 but Cabelas only sold it in 36. I have a 1860 polished as well. Make sure after you shoot it. You polish it. It will leave divits in the steel from the hot embers on the barrel/frame part.. and they rust fast. So clean keep it oiled good. Im debating on getting a 1858 bison the 12 inch barrel brass. Or a 1851 navy delux. Which is heavy engraved with faux ivory grips. Just not sure what to get. I have two brass remingtons a 5.5 and 8 inch. And 3 1851s. So its hard to chose.
Just picked up a 1860 army in old silver, it is beautiful.
Awesome! Let us know how it shoots
I'm a Uberti guy usually..but that's a great looking Pietta. Seems they have stepped up their game lately. Very nice!
Thank you! I agree that Pietta keeps getting better
Added bonus, no holster wear. Very nice gun.
Thanks!
That looks like a work of art.
I agree. Hopefully the finish holds up but even if it “ages” I’ll be happy with it.

Good to see that you are still around and posting! Duke
Good to hear from you, man!
I love the finish on it. Thanks for sharing.
You are welcome!
Sharp looking Navy 👍 I have the Pietta deluxe 1851 and love it
What’s the deluxe?
It’s basically just engraved with fake pearl grips lol, the timing was perfect out of the box when I got it, I did a tiny amount of filing on the frame the hand and the bolt lock to smooth it up, she’s fires nicely
@@DeucesWildRC awesome
Precioso yo tengo varios pietta y el 1851 es el revolver de avancarga mas bonito de todos, saludos
A mi tambien me gustan. Me encanta el cañón octogognal de la pistola. Saludos
That's and amazingly and awesome chrome finish 👌 well done 👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Love your blackpowder videos. I’m wanting to buy a black powder revolver, what’s your preference Pietta or Uberti?

@@jeffshootsstuff Thanks for the quick response. I have always liked the look of the 1861 Navy Colt so I think that I’ll start with that.

Get all of them! LOL. Thanks for the tip. I did get black spots/divots after shooting. It’s going to be a new experience with this finish.
Wow that’s a nice looking pistol
Thanks!
Very nice pistols. Hope you repair your original. I personally enjoy shooting originals. nothing quit like it.
Yeah, I’m trying to gather the proper parts to get the original shooting again.
Beautiful gun !
Thank you!
It’s a beauty!
Thanks!
Hi, 5:12 do you know if the barrel of Uberti 1851 is also too thick?
No, sorry. But I imagine it’s within a few thousandths. I’ll try to get an Uberti to try :D
Nice 👍 gun excellent shooting, and great 👍 channel 👍
Thank you!
Nice hog leg. Here lately, with my experiences between the two, Pietta is out doing Uberti in the quality department.
Yeah I’ve been very impressed of late.
Great shooting 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thank you!
I've been looking for one of these old silver ones for years now. Where did you find yours? Got any tips?
Check Taylor’s, cimarron, Dixie, the usual places. I just got lucky and my local Cabela’s had one.
I hate that Pietta puts that stamping on the side of the barrel like they do.
Agreed
Nice pistol!
Thanks!
Very nice
Thanks!
did you build your own indoor range?
Action targets built it the range stuff and backstop. I put in the steel.
I got one of those it looked like it was put in a damn tumbler looked like trash I sanded it off been a Umberti fan ever since
Neat
Gorgeous pistol and you are rock steady one handed. If you send your phone to me I can fix it.
I hear good things about your phone repair services. Carrier pigeon on the way!
