Love this. I own a CRF230F specifically because I love tinkering. Thanks for the ideas.

Thanks!
This is such a cool little build. Wish these were in good shape around my area.
Nice job! There are a spacer in between of the rollers, that can be replaced by aluminum one.
Yes, that will be the final step replacing that center. I’m too lazy to press out the bearings right now.
Just did the spacer thing on both wheels, heated the hub with torch, bearing came out easily. Saved 1/4 pound, Nice!
another fantastic idea!! my copycat machine (clone) in progress .THX!
Good luck nice prep
Well done Thomas
Thanks Jim! Good to hear from you!
Awesome series. Subscribed.
Thanks!
Hey dude love your vids of the 230 keep it up pkease good job
Well done. Heard those ebay pegs snap pretty easially after a drop but hey that's racing
Yes, I already cracked one in a fall. It will need replacement. They weren’t too bad but I will go for higher quality.
Hello very nice tutorials! I have some question about the CRF 230 and interchangebel parts from other Honda dirt bikes. I can get a race ready CRF 230F with upside down fork and higher seat but i want it build back for trail riding (lower seat hight and lower center of gravity like stock ) Is the XLR 125 Fork interchangebel does a CRF 250 seat fits with some changes? Maybe any one in the comments give me some tipps and tricks.
You can easily shave down an inch or two of the seat foam. I’ve seen guys use razor knives, electric turkey cutting knives, even thin heated up wire to cut the foam. Just unstaple and staple the cover back tight.
You can also adjust a little with rear shock sag-adjustment and raise up fork tubes a little.
Is the Honda XR600R XR250R Rear Brake Plate Holder Mount Drum 1985 1986 1987 the same as you used?
All I can tell you is mine came off of an ‘85 xr250r. I can’t say for certain what years will fit. I had to use to use some washer/spacers myself. Thumpertalk.com is a pretty good resource once you get the hang of it’s odd search function. Some good threads on the crf230 there. Good luck.
Repping a shirt from my home town
Did you consider putting a rear disk brake on and doing away with the drum?
I did. The smoother more progressive action of the disc was tempting but a lot more work and $$. I can lockup the rear now without much effort so I’m happy with it as is. I looked for high performance brake shoes couldn’t find any.
@@lowbuckgarage1 yeah I probably agree. I have an 05 230 I bought for my step son. I have have really enjoyed tricking it out.
What's the next step? Swingarm? I gained 4,85lbs from swapping from stock to XR350 aluminium
?? Stock 230 swingarm is already aluminum. Next step will be the aluminum footpeg relocation mounts. CRF150R forks are on now. Videos to come.
Thanks for watching!
@@lowbuckgarage1 great videos and fun watching you build Tom, I just purchased a 2003 CRF230F and am doing some mods. 04 CRF250R forks, Emig triple clamps, crf250r front wheel & caliper, Hagon Shock, FMF pipe. Where do you find Aluminum footage relocation mounts?
@@pauldelanoit1725 Thanks!
I had to fabricate my own mount plates out of 3/8inch aluminum stock and CRF250X peg mounts purchased off eBay. Came out sweet! much lighter too. Video to come on that project too.
Mine is not holding enough , what is the problem?
There is a pedal height adjustment bolt at the pedal as well as adjustment nut at the end of the brake rod, try those first.
@@lowbuckgarage1 when i put my bike on middle stand and push on the pedal it hold , when i drive i dosnt hold enough
@@harveykasankarijo8453 Maybe brake shoes worn out or contaminated with oil?
@@lowbuckgarage1oke i wil check but it is new one, thanks for the info
Build me a bike, Tom!
Anytime. What’s on the menu?
@@lowbuckgarage1 I always wanted a KX 250. Like a 1999. Jeff Emig use to race them back when I was growing up.
99 Kx was a great bike. I was still racing a 94 yz250 around that time. Best bike I ever had.
Fill the tires with helium
Lol
@@lowbuckgarage1 Kidding aside, your built 230 looks like a blast. Love it
