Is this really abhogi? Abhogi is supposed to be in Kafi. This sounds more like Khamaj.

It is true. This is Abhogi. The Raag is in Kafi Thaat but with the importance placed on the Madhyam instead of Sa, therefore, it sounds to the ears like a Khamaj Thaat Raag.
