Phoksundo Lake to Shey Gompa Trek | Upper Dolpo

Phoksundo Lake to Shey Gompa trek is considered to be strenuous and should be attempted only by experienced hikers. It lies within Upper Dolpo region. Upper Dolpo Trek is compulsory to be organized from the trekking agency of Nepal and hire a guide and a porter, needed arrangement with a special trekking of lower and Upper Dolpo. As the trail can be difficult to navigate and the altitude can be challenging.
Phoksundo Lake is a high-altitude lake located in the Dolpa district of Nepal. The lake is the deepest lake of Nepal. The lake is known for its deep blue waters and surrounding mountains. Shey Gompa, also known as Shey Monastery, is a Buddhist monastery located in the same district, near the village of Shey. The monastery is known for its intricate murals and statues of the Buddha. Shey gompa is just next to the crystal mountain.
To reach Shey Gompa from Phoksundo Lake, you would need to trek through the mountains, as there are no roads connecting the two places. Upper Dolpo trek is recommended to be organized a camping trek.
