I love Marka Ragnos' idea of revenge against the Jedi. "You disrespected my ancestors? Screw you, I won't even bother fighting you, I'm too busy covering planets with pyramids and bathing in gold." Top tier Dark Lord. Morality aside, when your only failures are your successors fucking up the perfection you set up for them, you've won at life.
In a way, one could say Ragnos was the first Sith to achieve immortality. Sure, his physical body died and his spirit was more or less confined to his tomb, but he became a Sith Lord known throughout history. The fact that Luke could easily figure out who he was, despite destruction of both Sith and Jedi archives, shows that he was still something of a household name 5,000 years after his death.

Marka Ragnos showed the potential of a Sith Lord who cared about the potential of those he ruled. Rather than brush off the weak as the strong he helped them up and inspired them to be the best they could be, or most they could be. He’d make a fine ruler of any empire, especially since he was the Greatest of the Sith rulers. He inspired both Naga Sadow’s ambition and Ludo Kresh’s consolidation efforts. They were both right but needed to work together. They could’ve waited to gather their resources rather than gamble on an early assault and infight amongst themselves to the point of destroying the Sith Empire.
This is sad. Marka Ragnos was extremely powerful. He deserves respect. Imagine a Sith who died like he did. It's beautiful. I agree, others were completely incompetente. May the Force be with you too😊
Marka ragnos never lost during his sith lord rein learned many abilities and skills became extremely powerful in over 100 years of rein didn't deemed plagueis and papaltine worthy of his time and only picked 2 sith lords to carried his legacy which were vitiate who didn't follow the way of the sith and exar kun who was very close to do it

Ragnos is in the top 3 most powerful Sith lord of all time, he was considered by Luke to be a more dangerous menace than Exar Kun's spirit and Leia said Exar Kun was more powerful than Luke... and this version of Luke was more powerful than Dark Empire Luke who was considered by Palpatine to be his greatest challenge since Yoda
You know. Apart from the Sith being a..holes, part of me can't help but admire their ambitious nature. Because Marka almost sounds like the type of guy that you can sit down and have a drink with.
I wonder who was the most benevolent Sith lord because I think it would be neat to see a Sith lord/emperor who is actually a genuinely good person trying to make the universe a better place.
Rulers can never be good people in action, like Ashoka the Great in India whose reign still led to the deaths of many. Imagine if Dooku's wishes for a better universe were geniune and not just human supremacy, that'd be neat yeh
Its kind of funny to think about, Marka Ragnos was an emperor and was it until he died of old age, he was so powerful that no Sith was able to defeat him, i dont even remember if someone ever dared to take him on for the mantle of being emperor or if every Sith knew they could not win.
One of my all time favourite Sith and I love whenever he appeared shit got done and that he didn't seemingly approve of the Banite Sith, which is amusing because Bane didn't seem to like the Ancient Sith due to their Jedi similarity because there was too many Darksiders. Bane's belief in the Dark Side of the Force should be coalesced into two Sith goes against everything about the Ancient Sith and their traditions, Bane thought he was the true Legacy of the Sith but I think Marka Ragnos would be disgusted by his actions.
I think that the biggest testament to Ragnos's power was two things. First, he was the only Dark Lord of the Sith that died of old age. Second, Vitiate waited until after he died, before making his move. I think he was the most powerful Sith Lord in history up until that point. I think Vitiate surpasses him after his ritual, and then no one touches Vitiate until Palpatine. It's hard to say where he ultimately lands on the rankings, but he is definitely the peak of the original Sith Empire.
13:40... Plageuis of all beings... being a literal Sith Scientist... an what'd he do??? The Munn goes LITERALLY Force Ghost Hunting... proving Star Wars the franchise with a little bit of EVERYTHING IN IT... at some point.. Wonder if they got Holidays like we know them too. Evidence says they do.. an if THIS narrated event was some sorta equivalent to a Halloween Special on the intergalactic HoloNet...
I think Marka Ragnos understood that the force was a thinking being and rather than go out into the galaxy and break the balance he'd rather rule his side of the galaxy in relative peace. Not to stir the wrath of the force.... unfortunately his successor had to start a major war with the Republic.
jeez i been telling people for years ragnos is actually peak sith lord for the simple achievement no one would challenge him. correction ragnos kept simus alive as a threat too the rest of the sith stating that even death wont save you from my rage. man was built different. you got that tid bit wrong stupendous. too challenge ragnos meant not only death in this world but no rest in the next.
Ironic Ragnos is one who truly to blame for the Gold Age of the Sith end for choise not to train an apprentice himself, that is the biggest problem with Rule of One-like Sith they are so full of themselve being at the top they failed to think about what happened when no longer around. If he took the soon to be Emperor under his wing and guild away form his more god wish path the Great Hyper Space War would have gone much difffernetly with the Sith victoriest and maybe close to Lucaus with the Sith ruling the Galaxy once more.
If you think about it the Great Hyperspace War would have been the prefect war to end the Republic and nearly to the Jedi if Sadow played his cards differently.
I just assume that we will never hear of him again and that the threat of the Sith, as Force religion in opposition to the Jedi, can be written off that the last issue of the Legacy era comics.
i think its a real shame that we don't get more info on some of these ancient sith other then just knowing they were incredibly powerful but other then that we rarely actually get more about them during their life and prime such as adas we know he crippled the rakata empire during his prime and some of the strongest sith/dark jedi ever gained their power after accessing whatever knowledge his holocron was willing to give or tulok hord and many other famous ancient sith also i think marka is one of the only sith to be legit worthy of the title sithari almost everyone else is a unworthy pretender of the legacy of adas. and given disney threw away legends we won't get more info on them which is frustrating to say the least especially what we've gotten in its place just is clearly not the same level of cool and interesting or addition to the world building. also really hate how marka got defeated though in that state he was in a much weakened state but still would've been better if it at least one of the current jedi council members or luke himself that defeated him.
Can we stop calling Vitiate, Darth Vitiate? Marka Ragnos gave Tenebrae the name Vitiate. It was later historians that stuck the title of Darth in there. Other than that, no one gave him the title of Darth. So he is either Tenebrae, Vitiate, or Valkorian. The only two titles he held, where Sith Emperor, he never used Vitiate or Tenebrae here, or for the the Eternal Empire, Immortal Emperor. He was a Sith Lord, yes. But, he was never a Darth.
