    Thank you young man great information!! I just finished your first video and the length of it was perfect. I just moved to Missouri from the great state of Texas to be near family. The rifle season for deer is only 10 days 😩 Since l know very few people here access to private land to deer hunt is near impossible. So hunting public land will be my first option. But with the onx maps you are teaching us it could open up some possibilities of making contact with private land owners.
    I've just purchased my first crossbow to hunt the much longer archery season here in the beautiful state of Missouri. Not able to use a compound bow due to shoulder injury and broke back due to auto accident two years ago. Almost 70 but l still love to deer hunt!!!
    Keep up the good work you are doing on the videos.

    I've been using the GPS Chip for a few years now for my Garmin GPS and it's awesome ... if you buy the chip subscription it comes with access to the app as well and then it's only 29.99 a year to upgrade the chip and the app together after that. having the chip is great because your phones battery can't be replenished as easily as carrying some extra AA batteries for your GPS. I was looking in to some solar charing options for the phone though ... that might be a game changer for multi day hunts.

    • @TheBeginningHunter

      Raevenswood I haven’t used the GPS chip at all, but it would be nice to not have to recharge my phone while in the field and just pack extra batteries if needed. Solar panels would be a huge asset to carry, I just haven’t yet. Those will likely be one of my next purchases!

    • @TheBeginningHunter

      Tim it’s both, technically, you have to select which 5 states you want loaded onto your account out of the 50 available. You can only have five states worth of maps at one time, but you can change what five states you want at any time. For instance, say you want Colorado, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana so you’d choose those maps and they’d be on your acct. In case anyone doesn't know what "unless you have access" means:
    On private land you need permission from the land owner or property manager to hunt the property. Additionally, some states require specific tags to hunt private land.

    So yellow blm is legal to hunt

    • @TheBeginningHunter
      @TheBeginningHunter  Рік тому

      Yep, BLM is considered public land and you can hunt it. There are some exceptions, like if the land is landlocked with private land all around you won’t want to trespass private land to get to the BLM.

      upsidedown I appreciate the comment and the feedback. This one was the first video I did and have learned a lot since then. Now, start to finish, my instructional videos are no longer than five minutes and I posted a few two weeks ago. Good luck this season!

    IMO without good cell service this app for me is WORTHLESS! Takes forever to download even 10 mile maps and when you do you have NOTHING OF VALUE! The only good thing is it's only $30.00 so after the first year you can dump it and not have lost very much.

    • @TheBeginningHunter
      @TheBeginningHunter  3 роки тому

      Paul S to download your maps you’ll have a MUCH better experience if you’re connected to Wifi. I’ve used cell service to try and download maps but it does take forever to do, but once connected to Wifi it is sooooo much faster!

      @@TheBeginningHunter I do use my WiFi to download maps, still takes 15-20 minutes and they take a lot of storage space So far my cell service doesn't work well where I hunt and changing will be $240.00 more a year.

      Paul S that’s a bummer. My download speeds are pretty quick but my internet speed is fast here at my house. I really do hope you can get some use out of onX but even if you don’t I hope you fill some tags this hear!

    Well once again another video that that does not show how to use the product it just shows what it does This was supposed to be video for the beginner so lets start a video that starts by clicking on the icon on the phone and what the buttons are, how each button works we need a DAMN user guide not a promo video!!!!
    And with all respect your response exemplifies the problem perfectly!!!
    Just how many of the "Dozens of other Videos" do I need to search through to find out "how to use the product" ??? As an example I have another retired friend who lives in Michigan, he retired from IT so he is fairly computer literate. I asked him if he ever used ONX on his Western hunting trips?? His response was "No, I could never find out or figure out how to make it work so I gave up and still use the Gazetter,
    So here is an Idea for you. Get a hold of a neighbor kid who has never heard of ONX and hand him your phone and tell him to find the nearest city using the ONX APP and do this without saying another word then watch how he fumbles around trying to figure out how it works .....
    How about a simple video or user guide entitled "ONX for Dummies" like me who are in our later years but still like to hunt and would still like at least a chance of understanding how the darn system functions screen by screen. I would gladly pay for that vs endless trial and error. I stand by what I said ONX needs a simple user guide. My new outboard comes with a user guide, my new Humminbird Helix comes with a user guide, and my wifes new Honda CRV comes with a user guide. My ONX system, that actually my life may depend on someday, DOES NOT and that is a travesty!!!
    Here is an actual example of what I am talking about.
    2 days ago my son and I went scouting for Antelope in Cascade County MT. I have a permit for that district. So he had me turn on my ONX System.
    He said to touch the Home button. I said where is that and he pointed it out to me. I said STOP where is the manual or user Guide that would tell me what the Home button was and how to use it?? He just had a blank look on his face.
    We drove on a little further and he said see the blue dot moving he said it moves with the car. I said STOP how would I know that?? Where is that explained another blank look on his face.
    As we drove along further he said see how the area on the left of your phone screen is highlighted. I said yes he said that is state land and is hunt able. I said STOP how would I know that where is the Manual/User Guide that explains that?? no response
    A little further down the road he said see the red dots around that parcel of land on the phone?? I said yes he said that is block management land open to hunting. I said STOP how would i know that without a manual/guide telling me that.
    A little further he said touch in the middle of that screen to bring up land information for a particular parcel. I said STOP How Would I know to do that without a manual or guide telling me.
    In your own video you mention accessing a map or area where no Cell service exists. You say put your phone in AirPlane mode and load the map?? I say STOP ...how would I know to do that without a manual or guide explaining it to me???
    What is listed above is an actual encounter I had with my son 3 days ago. What you people need to understand is that there is big difference between telling/showing what an Application Does vs "How it works" or how you make it work.
    Your "Beginners Video" can not assume anything!! I and many others have never used phone mapping tools nor do we need to. So in a beginners Video you need to start at the elementary level start by explaining what is on the phone screen when you first click on the icon.
    Explain what each and every button does with screen printed examples if necessary.
    Explain and show how to zoom in and out using 2 fingers on the screen.
    In other words, have the beginners video at the beginners level assuming no mapping/phone savvy experience whatsoever.
    That way an individual can learn ONX from the lowest basic level and then he/she can progress to more advanced features as necessary/desired
