Just come across you channel, lovely work and great videos, rely helpful info that I needed to step up my own practice thank you.
because of my internet limitations i can't watch the whole video.... but..... my comment is.... to 'rehearse' this, by doing the full painting, as a 'practice' for a demo you'll be doing in future, is amazingly professional...... WOW...
Thanks Robert. I wanted to time it so that could be confident that it would fit within my allotted 2 hrs.
It all went well at the conference.
I loved this video, despite the technical issue. 😀 I also would have liked a little introduction mentioning the palette you used. It appears to me to be a rather minimal palette, but perfect for this painting. Just my guess but it looks close to a Zorn palette, probably slightly modified. Just my guess. But the thing I really liked is the video is not sped up (probably slightly) to the point one cannot really see your masterful brush handling. I love the way it is shown in this video throughout the video. .....Using a 3-4 value underpainting and how you move to color is wonderful also, keeping the intial colors semi tranparent snd working up to the opaque. I love your technique and so much to learn from this video. Maybe make a video to sell on the instructional video market with some vocal over dubbing? 😀 GREAT VIDEO!
Thank you so much, John!
You really blow my mind, I was at Steamboat and saw your demo in person, then I watch the video and other of yours I really like your approach, i am the same kind of guy, I do my canvases, my frames and also my boxes, I was so exited to see what you do; I think you are gonna change my painting dramatically.
Thank you one thousand times for your generosity sharing years of experience with every body ( and me)
I’ll keep following you.
Thank you James
You’re very welcome, Juan! I’m glad you got something from my presentation. It’s not an approach that will work for everyone, but I think it can help (or speed up) starting a new painting. The finishing is the creative part 😉
