So before heading home i fondeled the Hornets stick again to get a feel for the buttons. and at home i started playing aorund with my stick, after that i tried out Thrustmasters Replica and i have to say, it's a solid piece of work, although the trigger and pickle button should require more force to push. the recce button on the other hand offers too much resistance and the four way heads aren't right, they should depress further down but all in all its a well made stick

I would love to know how the resin sticks feel in the real thing, I presume most of the people who play games would break them too easily or the resin is too expensive to mould and produce. I really appreciate the feedback from someone who knows their onions on this, thank you very much.
@@Laobi as for the resin part: It feels more like a really sturdy plastic mold (i'd guess a metal shell with plastic molded around) but we tend to paint over the stick when its been worn down a bit, so that might not be that accurate

Late to the show but I feel like I should offer my personal experience. I am on my 2nd Hornet grip, and this one is defective, too. First one: trim hat was defective. Stayed stuck in the 'left' position when I moved it. Took me a while to figure out why my Hornet's roll trim was out of control. Amazon replaced that one. The replacement, after about a month, the thumb switch stays stuck in the forward position. Button 15 shows constantly depressed. Thrustmaster is not currently honoring warranty repair/replace due to COVID shotdown.

I have still my f15 Talon from Suncom, which was outstanding joystick back then. The joystick itself is really great, still works (for 23 years :) but it doesn´t support usb. This looks like a good replacement. Too bad this addon with the warthog hotas is really expensive.

I successfully got a Virpil WarBRD base a few months back, using it with my old Cougar stick from early 2000's with a few dead buttons. Was gonna get a Virpil stick with it but giving up on their hopeless ordering system, got the money to order but can't because the few times a stick is in stock the site is so bogged down that by the time I log in to my account it's all sold out again so... thinking the F18 stick on the Virpil base since I don't wanna spend another 500 euros on Vkb or 1k or so on WinWing. May I ask how you find it compares to the A10 stick? I feel the F18 is missing a hat in comparison... one that can be quite useful. /Wilbuz
Thank you sir! I am still using the A10 stick, I use it mostly for the F16, Mig 21, A10, F5 and warbirds, I use the F18 stick in the 18, Elite dangerous and in VR when I remember. Either the F18 or A10c stick would be a good choice, if you fly multiple aircraft the A10C stick is probably a better choice. I'm hearing good things about the VKB sticks, but they seem to have recurring stock issues. I don't know how many times I've nearly bought something from Virpil only to see it's out of stock, I really wish they'd hire more people or something.

Thank you sir! The pilot position allows you to move your centre of view along the z axis, often in VR you'll find yourself a little too far forward to reach some of the rear side panels without having the flexibility of a Chinese acrobat, my solution is to set that switch to those commands.
@@Laobi I'll have to check that. Usually I use reset VR position (or something like that is its name) which can adjust my position on the Z axis as well. It's similar to Trackir reset. But this could be better. Do you happen to remember the specific binding name, good sir?
They're in the View section and called View External In and View External Out, despite their name, in the cockpit they move your POV forward and back, the key commands are RCTRL RShift * and RCTRL RShift /, I find this 3 way much easier to use with them.
