Good Morning Debbie, loved your video about the Das Essenhaus Resturant & their bakery. I live close to Middlebury, & have been there , maybe 8 times. Love their buffet, some of the time; I would have to take one of their wonderful pies home. Debbie & Dave have a GREAT DAY!!
When we lived in Indiana many years ago, we went to the Essen Haus several times when family came to visit. Such great, plentiful food!! It looks like it has expanded a lot since then. I grew up Mennonite and will definitely subscribe to your channel.
I have been there with my family the buffet was delicious and each one of us got what we wanted. We loved walking around the shop and took goodies home with us.
I lived in Middlebury Indiana for a few years my daughter loved Essenhaus every time she came for a visit she wanted the meatloaf. We also liked Rise and Roll located between Middlebury and Shipshewana.
I have to add on to my post love the Village Inn restaurant in Middlebury especially their rhubarb custard pie or coconut cream pie haven't been back for 6 years but always one of my favorite stops when visiting my daughter who lived in Goshen.

The Texas star pattern quilt is different than what i’ve seen. I do know that different parts of the country call patterns different names. It was beautiful.
I bike ride the Pumpkin Vine trail from Shipshewana to Essenhaus and have coffee and a piece of their delicious rhubarb cream pie. Then bike ride back to Shipshe😂it’s my favorite way to spend a summer afternoon.

Das Dutchman Essenhaus = The German Eating House. I really like this place. Good food and I love the huge filled long johns. Worked there many years ago making and packing the noodles, salad dressings, cookies, and angel food cakes.

Been to the Essenhaus many many ( too many, lol) times over the years, as we had a summer place in Angola. As we’ve gotten older, and no longer have the summer place, The Blue Gate is more to our liking. Of course, it’s also just a thinly veiled excuse to visit the Davis Hotel, and stock up on fabric from Lolly’s.
I just joined your channel and am really enjoying it. I am originally from the Cincinnati area, but did not know much about the Amish in Indiana. I will have to stop at some of these places the next time I am driving through. Did you notice if the bakery had any sugar free cookies or pies? The bakery looked so neat and tidy. Actually, all the stores do.

Omg.. lived in berrien springs michigan for two yrs 40 yrs ago...school..well I traveled to amish area in n.indiana and bought antiques and talked to amish...there life in those big white farmhouses and farms... inspired my life
My husband's best friends ex-wife has run the restaurant there for many many years. They're food, desserts & the peanut butter pie is very good but my mennonite grandmothers cooking/baking was much better than the Essenhaus's of course lol

We have ate there several times for Thankgiving weekends, my daughter lives in Syracure, In. Just about 20 minute drive from there. Always delicious.

They make a black raspberry pie (in season) that you would gladly combat a bus load of nuns to get a slice of.
