    A little word of unsolicited advice from a soldier who does this monthly.. on the push-ups, the fingers are supposed to be in the crease between your shoulders and pecs, and the starting position is on the "down". On the Sprint/Drag/Carry, there is also a side shuffle, and you start the sprint by laying on the ground in the push-up position. Lastly, for the leg tucks, most Drill Sergeants or graders will not count your rep unless you go all the way down with your arms, then basically do a pull-up. The leg tucks are basically a messed up pull-up and a leg curl.
    Other than that, good job you guys! The ACFT is tough.

    Brandon and Hudson have always struck me as a great representation of the difference between genetic advantage in muscle appearance and pure strength.
    Brandon is taller, broader, and his muscles always look bigger than Hudson's... yet Hudson can always match Brandon lift for lift, and sometimes even outperforms him (at least in the videos).

      @danielmorton4306 5 років тому +71

      If you're in a heavy physical demand MOS and you don't work out it's a toss up as to whether you'll be able to deadlift 180lbs with good form. With the current one I don't even have to work out. I just have to eat healthy enough to not get fat and i can pass.

    • @thomaspetersen9720
      @thomaspetersen9720 5 років тому +26

      Like Daniel Morton said, the passing scores are currently quite low. If everyone had to get 100 points in every event, then yeah, 99% of the Army would be gone. lol. Currently for "soldiers in heavy physical demand unit" (I would assume combat arms) they need 180 lbs on the deadlift, 8.5 m on the power throw, 30 push-ups, 2:09 on the sprint drag carry, 5 leg tucks, and 18 min two-mile run. For soldiers in "moderate physical demand unit" (I would think special branches and combat service support branches) they just need 140 lbs on deadlift, 4.6 m throw, 10 push-ups, 3:35 on the sprint drag carry, 1 leg tuck (LMAO!) and 21:07 on the two-mile "run."

And they changed the pushups to T pushups which are basically hand release pushups but when you release you have to fully extend your arms in line with your shoulders and then bring them back in. While conducting the Sprint drag carry you must start out in the pushup position or resting pushup position, you cannot start the excersise standing. The reason I bring this up is because every little thing counts either for or against you.

    Hey Buff Dudes! Loving the theme here . . . Maybe try an Air Force Special Tactics PAST for the ALO, CRO, or STO standards. I dunno how y'all feel about swimming, because CRO and STO have it, but maybe an ALO test would be cool! Fun to see y'all work, keep it up!

    USMC Combat Fitness Test. You can easily look up all three events on UA-cam and you can find a copy of the order MCO 6100.13 by searching on google or such. Or ask me and I got you haha

    Thanks, Buff Dudes!
    Getting this ACFT done is a goal of mine for my 50th birthday next year. I've been working my way up to it. Like you, the run is going to be an issue for me due to some bursitis on the right side of my hip that acts up every time I go running. I'm still workin at it though.
    Good Job!

      So you’re saying that basically they watched his video, then organised all this stuff and filmed it on the same day just to copy Athlean X? I’m pretty sure Brandon and Hudson don’t live too close to their parents anymore so I’m guessing this video was probably planned well in advance. Plus this video was a suggestion from a viewer in the comments to an old video of theirs sometime ago.

    You guys cracked me up with this. I think you guys forgot the 2 minute timer for the push up but otherwise it was awesome. Also I'm an active duty soldier who has taken the ACFT 3 times and man it never gets easy. This new PT Test will most certainly separate the weak from the strong.

    The body is so interesting. You guys are clearly jacked and in shape, but the pushup numbers in this and the challenge video really surprised me. When I was in basic training I saw a guy do 102 pushups (good form, he was being tested) and he didn't look half as jacked as you guys.

    Do the British Royal marine fitness test, its all controlled done to bleeps and you habe to do a 3 mile run, 1.5 mile for 12 minutes to warm up then 1.5 as fast as you can. You do tricep push ups to a beep max of 60, then wide arm pull ups to a beep holding at the top to your chest till the beep, then you have your sit uo test with hands besides your head knees to elbows to the beep and then lastly, bleep test/ shuttle run, all the bleep stuff csn be found on UA-cam, simply type in royal sit up test, push up test, pull up test ect.

    Here's the deal. You are only suppose to have about 3 to 5 minutes to rest between each event. Also, the push-ups you only have 2 minutes to complete it and the only rest position is in the up position. Oh, and to get 100 points on the run, you have to complete it in 12:45. Buff Dad failed since the slowest allowed is 21:00. The Dudes passed it at mid level. I want to see them do a to standard version of the ACFT.

    • @hunterbarnett2191
      @hunterbarnett2191 3 роки тому

      Its made to be easier to pass, mainly because we have guys who have been doing t he same pt test for 10-20 years who now have to learn how to do something besides push-ups, sit-ups, and running. But is made to be much harder to max than the old test. Also, it seems like they went to failure on the push-ups, and there's a 2 minute time limit on them just like the old test so you can't pace yourself. Those and the sprint drag are by far the hardest parts, besides the run which is just as miserable as always.
