Eddie said, “I didn’t really think it would be that big of a deal and wouldn’t really go anywhere, or for that matter make any real money” lol Slash definitely learned from Eddie’s mistake and got credit for everything he did with MJ! Slash could live off just those residuals. lol
Yes Pete was one of Eddie's favorite player! I happened to watch an interview of Eddie from The 80s where he said he went to see The Who in 76 and got back stage with some buddy's (I the Michael Anthony was one) and got to meet The Man Pete! He said all the things i was told about him about being moody, rude, hot tempered and un approciable was BS.. said he was the nicest most helpful guitar hero he had. A truly wonderful meeting that stayed with Ed. Now Blackmore and a few others he said nothing nice about..
ALWAYS great and informative videos brother, thanks you! Being born and raised in LA County, got to see VH 5 times with Roth and 3 with Sam. Lol Edward live with that brown sound was beyond epic! With KLOS & KMET, all the interviews etc way too much to list, it was a great time to be alive... Edward `always put magic in the air, and they're music created a phenomenal vibe in our lives. Too bad the generation now a days won't or can't experience what we did. Peace
Wow. Pete recommended Eddie! Very cool. I met Pete through EC & companies road mgr. , Mick Double, who became a friend. Anyway, the rest of the band left the venue, but Pete came backstage. He's a big dude. Im 6'2" and he looked down to shake my hand. We talked about his custom Clapton guitars, which had a whammy bar. I had called the custom shop about buying one. He ordered 20 at a time .lol. All green. Anyway, he was very friendly to me. Ive heard the nightmare stories, but all i can say is he was warm and very interested in how i knew about the guitars, why 20, etc. He responded he played them to bits on tour. Lmao. He had stopped smashing them by this tour. Quadrophenia revisited.
getting Eddie at that time wasn't like paying for a cab across NYC. he'd almost get a blank check. I'm glad his changes were approved ,because stuff like that has ruined friend ships in music. but if it magically invigorates the tune? friends for life. that's creativity.
Interesting. Point of correction. Steve Lukather states that Michael J came up with the signature guitar lick on Beat It (see Luke's interview with Rick Beato).
I always though a little bit of Jimi's 'all along the watchtower' was in the solo near the end. they are very similar. it's high on the neck, but EVH wasn't really deep into Hendrix, overall.
@@jcruisioso5975 No. He sang the lick (I'm not talking about the solo, which was EVH). Given that Luke played all the guitar parts (bar the solo) plus bass on the cut, I reckon his is the definitive word on the topic.
Funny I cant seem to recall any memorable Eddie Solos after Diamond Dave Era The other guy should have stayed in the basement trying to sing to Kiss records
And what on earth is wrong with you by saying Pete was "never really a solo guitar player"? Are you fucking crazy? He's recorded HUNDREDS of guitar solo's and played THOUSANDS of solo's in concerts. Is that not enough for you?? Holy shit!!!
Contrary to lies from some unnamed dink , Ed wasn't all about money . Kramer Guitars never paid Ed any money for his endorsements of Kramer guitars . At the rime he started endorsing Kramers , the company had a very small profit margin on their guitars that had Floyd Rose tremolos . Ed loved the tremolos and Kramer's putting them in their guitars . He knew if he was paid endorsing the company would have to raise their prices .
@@cdsersd2d Thanks for the reply. As I recall, EVH also claimed to be the first person to wax-pot an electric guitar pickup (or to have come up with the idea on his own). While EVH was clearly a technical guitar powerhouse (in his niche), he certainly had an exaggerated opinion of himself. I'm sure EVH made that statement long after Rhodes was dead and couldn't either refute or verify it.
“The song Jump was kind’ve a salute to Pete Townshend “ Gonna need to see receipts for this one. Lotta BS gets spread around on all the videos from this channel.
Pete was an abused child, but had no memory of it except through a therapist. He cleared his research with the authorities and was cleared for therapy research .The london papers made a retraction and apology for reporting this as a crime. Of course , it appeared on the back of the paper in small print. People will believe what they want. This was all made public.
EVH playing his iconic solo for MJ for free kinda shows how cool Eddie was 👌.. Excellent Rock History Kar have a rocking great day !!! 🤘🏻
Big thanks Scott, have a great rocking day you too !!!
he also didn't want to create waves within VH - jealousy due to a solo project

Absolutely adore both, but man PT is such an eloquent word smith. Still my personal favorite musician of all time.
I miss Eddie so much.
Dude I’m fuckin loving your videos bro. I’ve been watching them all day. True stories man
Big thanks! Much appreciated!!
What a wonderful video you have made. Thank you very much for your outstanding work.
Big thanks for checking out, great pleasure!
Yes, heartwarming tribute.
Amazing story. Thank you for sharing.
You are very welcome, thank you! Great pleasure!
wish Eddie was still here , him and Pete could be jamming and just hanging out .Two of the best and very rare individuals
Wow... you've been to a lot of great shows! Big hug

Best moment on all of Thriller. The real THRILL of Thriller, by a country mile. EVH stole the show, and blew audiences minds.
I always been a Who fan but when VH came out in 78 I was torn so now I have two favorite bands and love neither more then the other.
Love them both. Both had God-given talent.
Michael forever ❤️

Eddie could "cover" any song that he was acquainted with. He would have been awesome doing a lot of Beatles stuff🙏 if he had been into them
There is a video of VH doing a cover of Drive My Car by the Beatles. VH played it in their early club days.
Beatles suck.
Every time I see/hear/listen to Praise to EVH. I'm first ear to ear (you know)....then slowly (you know).....I guess I should be GLAD for the ride!
Pete Townshend ngl has solos that are pretty tricky, like all the live solos and the hard licks he knows on some songs.

Should have not gotten paid, but requested 1/4 point on the album.
Good stuff

7:31 EMS VCS 3 synth. And the synth shown is an ARP 2500.
I thought Roth said JUMP was about a person wanting to jump off a building? Who knew?
But he added the words about the record machine, and that changed the subject of Jump. :>
theres a reality where eddie never died and actually became president, absolutely wild.
why didn't he just get Steve Lukather play the solo?
Crossover appeal. Every rock fan immediately recognized EVH’s style and tone.
Ask Steve Lukather. He'll tell you. It's because, even though Lukather is incredible, he's not Eddie Van Halen.
Almost a dumb question. NOBODY solos like EVH. Not even close.
It’s really kind of creepy in hindsight to hear the words, kids and children, while referring to Michael Jackson,
After all, we know now.
So he lost Pete Townshend's phone number but couldn't leave a message through his manager to contact him?
Funny
I cant seem to recall any memorable Eddie Solos after Diamond Dave Era

It's pronounced 'Towns-hend'.
Yes, thank you

I heard that Eddie also taught Randy Rhoads mostly everything regarding guitar playing.
Where did you hear that, from Eddie? 😆
@@glennmuir5617 - Yep. I have no idea if it's true, but Eddie was being interviewed and said that. Eventually you bump into the YT video. It's there.

Pete hates his own band.
At least EVH never did extensive "research' on child pron, like Pete did!

Eddie has great taste? All his solos were the same.....?
Michael Anthony was a horrible Bass Player....
