I know you've mentioned that you're Protestant Austin (Episcopalian?), but I do recommend that you visit the Convent of Our Lady of Saydnayah (30 min. drive from Damascus). Also, did you visit Saint Paul's Church in Damascus (Eastern Gate of the city)? God Bless.
I’m Southern Baptist. And I did visit St. Paul’s church! I’ll have a video on it at some point 😬 I’ll have to check out the other if I ever get the chance to go back one day!
@@Austin_Davis2 I'm glad to hear that Austin. My greetings to you for visiting Lebanon and Syria; I'm a Roman Catholic, and my experience with Southern Baptists was overall turbulent 🙂 They tend to have deep animosity to Christians in the Middle East; we do stand on opposite sides of the fence on s certain issue 😉 Overall, I hope that you had a pleasant, and memorable visit to Lebanon and Syria 🙏✝️
Luckily, old Damascus was left untouched from the war. As you travel outside the main city, you’ll start to see miles of destruction. There’s parts of Syria where you could drive 30-60 minutes continuously and see nothing but b0mbed out buildings

Didn't ISIS try to destroy this mosque?

It's wild how much history comes from this one spot. I would go back again if given the opportunity!
