Exploring Ancient Palmyra in 2024
Come along with me as I travel to the number 1 UNESCO World Heritage site on my bucket list. Visiting this site is something I never imagined I would do, but the perfect window of opportunity came about, and I packed my bags and headed to Syria for the trip of a lifetime in 2024. Visit the site only a handful of foreigners have visited in the past decade. This truly has to be one of the least visited World Heritage sites due to its location.

I Spent 2 Hours in a Syrian Castle - Krak de Chevaliers
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Місяць тому
Come along with me as I explore a crusader era castle in Syria. Krak de Chevaliers was built by the Knights Hospitaller (crusaders) to defend the Levant, but it fell to the Sultan of Egypt, Baibars. The castle itself has survived almost 1000 years of war and destruction including the current, ongoing Syrian Civil War. I mentioned my video of the ancient site of Bosra in this video, and here is ...
I Walked 1 Mile on a Roman Road in Syria - Ancient Apamea
Переглядів 6022 місяці тому
Come along as we walk down the ancient Roman colonnade of Apamea. This is one of the longest colonnades in the entire world. There were originally over 1200 pillars along this road, but today there are roughly 400 left. This area was taken over by terrorists during the Syrian Civil War, and the government forces retook the area in 2019. During this time, militias came and dug hundreds of holes ...
I Visited a Bombed Out Museum in Syria - Ma'arra Mosaic Museum

Come along with me as we travel to the Ma'arra Mosaic Museum in the Idlib Governate of Syria. The mosaics are from the 3rd - 6th century A.D. and come from the Dead Cities nearby. This city was overtaken by terrorists during the Syrian Civil War, and was freed in 2019/2020. The terrorists never found the mosaics in this museum, but they built their headquarters underneath the museum. We explore...

We walk through the Necropolis first and then we head straight to the hippodrome. Sit back and enjoy! I VISITED DAMASCUS - Umayyad Mosque
Переглядів 1,7 тис.5 місяців тому
I visited the Umayyad Mosque in the heart of Old Damascus. This location has housed the central place of worship in Damascus for thousands of years, going back to the Kingdom of Aram-Damascus. The current-day mosque sits above several other sites including: a Byzantine church, Roman temple to Jupiter, and an Aramean temple to Hadad. The temple to Hadad is believed to be the site connected to se...
Visiting the World's Best Preserved Roman Theater - Bosra, Syria

How cool were the storage areas compared to the outside temp?
what were the mazes for in ancient Babylon?
Iam the kid that speak english my name is Amir 😅
What’s up Amir! I hope you enjoyed the video!
Go Amir!! We have kids your age in our church ☺
isis isnt an entity it was obama. thats a proven fact the same guys in syria right now. al nusra it all obama the indonesian interloping shapeshifter.
So you guys decided to go to Palmyra in 2024 as if it was a walk in the park...I think you guys should have more respect for the situation Syria and the syrian people are going through, also respect the unspeakable suffering people went through in that place and stop trivialising the grave times we all live. I will leave it at that because I know the "interaction" I will get after saying so.
It was definitely easy and everything was normal pre-Assad getting removed. Feel free to check out some of my other videos from Syria. We also were helping stimulate the local economy. Everyone will always have differing viewpoints on dark tourism and its ethical dilemmas. I appreciate you watching!
the destruction of such things is just beyond comprehension 🤯
It’s an incredibly sad experience seeing the destruction up close. These structures in Palmyra survived for roughly 2000 years but were no match for an unenlightened group of men with some C4
nice video bro
Glad you enjoyed it! Proud to make content that the masses enjoy 😉
Deus vult!
I've explored this castle too. It's my favorite castle. Thank's for the video.
Glad you enjoyed the video! What year did you visit?
@@Austin_Davis2 ... seems like a long time ago. It was 1995 and we traveled overland via Turkey.
It must have been an awesome time to visit Syria back in the 90s. I wish I could have seen Palmyra before its destruction-especially the tower tombs
@@Austin_Davis2 ... it was a great time. The people were very welcoming too. Even an encounter with the army was amicable. Sadly so many things have changed for the worse.
Thank you for sharing, that´s amazing experience
Thanks for watching-I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Hi from England. Thank you for sharing this video, I have always wanted to visit here.
I appreciate you watching my video! It’s an incredible site to visit; I hope you get the chance to visit one day!
1982 I was work in this monument.this monument is made steel structure which is covered by stone tiles.
I appreciate you watching! It was an incredible site to see in Baghdad-you all did an awesome job building it!
I went there years ago walking from the main bazaar and realised unlike what the Bible said the road to the house of St. Ananais is not straight at present days 😅
I appreciate you watching!
aaaaaawesome 😯🤯
I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
Austin davis im so sorry to comment you please stop saying mosque yo dont know the means mosque it means MOSQUITOS 🦟🦟🦟 PLEASE SAY IN A PROPER WORD MADJID UMMAYAD 🥺🥺🥺🆓🆓🇵🇸🇮🇷🇾🇪
I loved every minute
I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
w😲w beautiful ruins....
Thank you-I appreciate you watching!
sad story but truly great video mate!
Thanks man-I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Sure it is. We do not know for sure what was yesterday, except that our God is real, and His Word is true. I just wonder what is it in the hearts of believers to go to such fake "holy sites", when we have the Living God to come to daily, in every place on earth, face to face, through the blood of Jesus, blessed be His Holy Name forever and ever, Amen and Amen
back in time the cedars were very big and tall they talk about them in the bible we have cedars here in BC Canada and they are massive trees it's nice to see were they got the wood they used to build the temple and Solomon's house
Appreciate you watching!
Read Ezekiel 31. That cedar was massive into the heavens and could be seen from many parts of the world. A diametre of 18 miles and a height approx 64 miles, its root system went deep down into the Fountains of the Deep. Look at Hangman 1128's work. Those cedars you show are not the biblical ones though.
@@supatipanno I appreciate you watching! And I am not sure where you got those dimensions from. Ezekiel 31 is more so a metaphor/analogy comparing Egypt to a huge tree that dominates a forest to a kingdom/nation that dominates a world. The point of the section I believe you are referring to (Ezekiel 31:3-9) is that the Egyptians should not feel proud and invincible--they should remember how powerful Assyria had fallen.
You are welcom to my village, We hope to visit us another time ❤
Wow! Just to think that Paul walked that road and it is still there today. Amazing! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed the video! It was surreal getting to walk the same street he walked roughly 2000 years ago
A beautiful site. I did however find the American country music playing in the background not only irritating but also disrespectful towards this ancient SYRIAN culture. If you are in other ppl's country, try to respect their heritage. Don't try to Americanize everything. Yikes.
Glad you enjoyed the video :)
@@Austin_Davis2 Except for the parts I pointed out.
Just make sure to follow for more content on the horizon 😊
@@Austin_Davis2 You're not slick. Just accept the criticism and learn. Don't be a cocky American.
You’ll be happy to know the next video dropping this week doesn’t have country music :)
I hope one day even hindu community can live peacefully in syira as well❤
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Do you like Syria or Lebanon more? Who has better food?
Syria hands down. A lot more archaeological sites to see, and Damascus has to be one of the coolest cities to visit! Lebanon though does have better food 👀
@@Austin_Davis2 Who has better food? Iraq or Lebanon?
Let us know how you're wife finds the rose skin products, I'm interested to know because $1 is very cheap for organic, natural products.
She really liked them, and I should have bought more! Looks like I may have to make another trip to Syria for more 👀
Enjoyed watching rose picking. Those kids are fun.
Amazing!
North Korea makes some of the best art, really incredible paintings.
It amazes me how intact this coliseum is for its age.
It’s an incredible place to visit!
I know you've mentioned that you're Protestant Austin (Episcopalian?), but I do recommend that you visit the Convent of Our Lady of Saydnayah (30 min. drive from Damascus). Also, did you visit Saint Paul's Church in Damascus (Eastern Gate of the city)? God Bless.
I’m Southern Baptist. And I did visit St. Paul’s church! I’ll have a video on it at some point 😬 I’ll have to check out the other if I ever get the chance to go back one day!
@@Austin_Davis2 I'm glad to hear that Austin. My greetings to you for visiting Lebanon and Syria; I'm a Roman Catholic, and my experience with Southern Baptists was overall turbulent 🙂 They tend to have deep animosity to Christians in the Middle East; we do stand on opposite sides of the fence on s certain issue 😉 Overall, I hope that you had a pleasant, and memorable visit to Lebanon and Syria 🙏✝️
Well done Austin for visiting Syria; the gangster mass media in the West certainly do their best to dissuade people from visiting this beautiful country. Once your tour of Syria is complete, grab a taxi from Damascus, and visit Lebanon (wonderful country!) (despite the "warnings" put by the State Department 😅) May our Lord Jesus Christ Bless you 🙏✝
Sadly, I’m already back. I did spend a few days in Lebanon around Baalbek, Tyre, and Sidon-I love Lebanon!
@@Austin_Davis2 A good thing too! It's a powder keg in Southern Lebanon! Lord Have Mercy 🙏✝️
Super!
Glad you enjoyed the video!
Unbelievable please post a lot of things from Syria so that maybe I will be able to go there. I thought that so much of it was bombed or that it was not safe enough but that is what the world wants us to believe. God bless them all and I really hope tourists will come
I’ve got more videos in the works-I make them outside my 9-5 👀
Your history is kinda off… this was built in the second century and also idk how pliny the elder would of wrote about Trajan and his treatment of christians because pliny died as a result of mount vesuvius in 79 AD almost a couple of decades before Trajan became emperor… but I appreciate the scenery my friend 💯
You’re right on both 🙈. Appreciate you catching those two slip ups. Meant to say Pliny the Younger and 2nd Century. I’ll have to add that to the description 👀
Sound travels upwards. That's why the stage area is on the lowest level. That's why living in Manhattan is not good on the ears, every noise from the streets can be heard 30 stories up.
Appreciate the added info! Hope you enjoyed the video!
About the tower of bavel Gen 11: says a CITY with a tower, God came down to see the CITY and tower. God confused their language and scattered them, and they stopped building the City. I say this because Christians only read tower in the bible and distort the text. I am surprised the sight still hasn't been investigated archaeology. I appreciate you videos with bible.
My dream destination😊 oh my umayyad mosque what a beauty....
It's wild how much history comes from this one spot. I would go back again if given the opportunity!
Didn't ISIS try to destroy this mosque?
Luckily, old Damascus was left untouched from the war. As you travel outside the main city, you’ll start to see miles of destruction. There’s parts of Syria where you could drive 30-60 minutes continuously and see nothing but b0mbed out buildings
Section D, Row 14, seat 3.
Best seat in the house!
Two upper stories on stage are unusual. Google: 'Theatre of Sabratha, Libya.jpg' to see staging which allows actors, performers, choristers to occupy upper levels.
That theater in Libya is definitely cool! I always love a good Roman theater
how do you get to bosra
You have to go through a tour company if you’re a westerner. We aren’t allowed to explore Syria alone 👀
@@Austin_Davis2 Yes I suppose we should stop causing wars and illegally holding military installations. The amphitheater is spectacular
One thing I was not expecting when I went was that I saw what each of the actors involved in the war have taken as their bounty for getting rid of ISIS. The US took the oil, Russia took the ports, and Iran took the high quality sand/dirt to make concrete in their factories in Syria. Everyone seems to have a “piece of the pie” except for Syria
@@Austin_Davis2 all of these sickos work together to plunder the worlds beauty.
This is where US financed ISIS massacred whole familys.
ISIS never made it this far west in Syria. They weren’t even close
@@Austin_Davis2 Dude, there are videos and news issues from that day. ISIS loaded up dozens of vids as well from that theater. When this area was secured the Russians supported the government to give a concert for the family members who survived that was broadcasted as well. Stop spewing misinformation. ISIS was already fighting police forces in Latakia at the beginning of the war. I have a whole family over here that lives with us now who came from that region.
I think you’re thinking of Palmyra and not Bosra. Al Nusra Front was in Bosra along with other rebel groups, but not ISIS. I’d imagine if ISIS had been in Bosra, the theater would have been severely damaged
@@Austin_Davis2 Oh sorry, you´re right. But ISIS fighters were already taking over police forces early on in the war.
Thank you for this video tour. This theater is really amazing. And so well preserved!
I appreciate the feedback, and I’m glad you enjoyed it! Keep your eyes peeled for new videos dropping soon 👀
Apparently, destroying historical monuments is not the strong suit of Ottoman Empire, huh? Maybe you're misjudging Turks?
Well the whole location was covered in sand until 1947, so most probably had no idea what was underneath. Not sure how I misjudged the Turks here…?
Well, ottomans completely rebuilded Constantinople to erase its greek history. Nothing that any other country wouldn't do as well but definetely not history and heritage lovers
Christians are lovely people
what about Syrians in general are they not lovely ?
