Kathy Bates rightly gets a lot of praise for her performance here, but I think that James Caan deserves a lot of credit, too. He very ably played a man struggling in multiple ways and his reactions to what's happening are incredible. Like at the end when a well-meaning fan says the one thing guaranteed to most dredge up that horrible experience and look at his face, he's desperately trying to be polite and gracious while, at the same time, struggling not to vomit.
Also, I love that at the end, most reactors relax when they see the actual waitress and not Annie, then go "augh don't say that" when she tells Paul she's his #1 fan, but you just say "kill her".

In the book, she used an axe - a hatchet, and stopped the bleeding with a blowtorch.
The end of the book was better: Except for the top sheet to fool Annie, Paul burned a stack of blank paper. Misery's Return was his best work, so he hid it under the bed to keep it safe. After his rescue, it was published, revitalized his career as a huge bestseller, and led him to continue on with writing Misery novels.
Suggestions: James Caan in Alien Nation with Mandy Patinkin, and Kathy Bates in Fried Green Tomatoes with Jessica Tandy.

Kathy Bates won an Oscar for that role. Should see her acceptance speech; has a couple of funny moments. 😄
Another claustrophobic thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat and where the protagonist is confined inside a house is WAIT UNTIL DARK. With the lovely Audrey Hepburn. You’ll feel her helplessness, her being trapped.
Through a series of events in the prologue, a doll ends up in a blind woman’s basement apartment. It is stuffed with heroin and three crooks want it. What starts as a hustle gradually evolved into a nail biting battle of wits. And there is a jump scare in the climax; makes your heart leap out of your chest like Misery.

I think Green Room (2015) would probably be Hannah's favorite thriller, mainly because 1) There's things for her to figure out, and 2) Most every action is believable.

In case you guys didn't know James Caan passed away on July 7, 2022. James caan best acting performance is in THE GODFATHER (1972) as Sonny Corleone. I recomend you to watch , its a masterpiece and a classic and The Greatest Movie Of All Time.

One of my personal favs! Directed by Rob Reiner who also made The Princess Bride. Awesome reaction. Btw, I don't feel Hannah has trust issues lol. The truth is women are able to understand and see right through other women in a way most men generally can't. I think your girlfriend has a gift for discernment and can judge a person's character rather well (based on what I've seen here and other reaction videos). It's also really cute to see how comfortable and free you both are with each other. P.S. If Hannah can tolerate your beard smell, she's DEFINITELY the one, mate. Haha ;)

Glad you guys reacted to this. Whether or not it won a poll isn't really important. It's a fantastic movie regardless. If all of King's movies were adapted correctly, the guy would have as many hit movies as he does books. Crazy how the source material is right there, but are studio execs that think they can do it better somehow, and then turn around and fuck up a guaranteed success. Like Ron White said, "you can't fix stupid."
