The USAriadna and Nomads race to control the lost supplies in this 200 point game
great game, at about the 16:00 mark, your opponent could have rolled for his critical regardless that your 19 was highest. if he had rolled a crit, both actions, your and his would have failed. pg. 8 in the rulebook.
Around 16:00 or so, You don't have to roll a 'higher' critical to cancel a critical. That's N2 you're quoting there. In N3 crit cancels crit, no matter the degree.
At about 22:00 mark, the second guy hit by your chain rifle could dodge as his ARO. Being subject to a template weapon is immediate reason to be allowed to dodge in your reactive turn, regardless of LoS. You do get -3 to the roll for being out of LoS.
Angel Llera
-9? According to the book the -3 for dodge against templates don't stack, so it should be -3 at most barring surprise shot or some such?
Angel Llera
"However, that Roll becomes a PH-3 Roll in these cases:"
A roll that "becomes PH-3" three times is still PH-3, it would be different if it said "that roll gets a -3 modifier for each of these cases:"
Angel Llera
It first becomes PH-3 instead of PH. Then it becomes PH-3 instead of PH-3. And so on.
It's NOT a modifier. Mods are not written as "becomes", but very clearly marked. Compared to Surprise Shot which says "-3 MOD to the relevant Attribute." Notice how they even capitalize MOD everywhere in the book, to make it extra clear. It is clearly different on purpose here.
So no, MOD rules don't apply since it is not listed as a MOD, and you're wrong. ^^
edit: Ah, I see now, I'm talking only about the PH-3 from page 35, you're also taking TAG in account, I see. I was never intending to only give the rule for this specific scenario, but rather was talking about the rules against ANY template, which is why I was not really concerned about TAGs mods.
Angel Llera
Read my last reply, the edit. Basically, reread my first post. You'll see I gave the general rules for dodging templates. You then came in and started talking about this specific instance, confusing the heck out of me as I thought you were trying to say all mods on page 35 of the rules stack to work together (as, obviously, my general explanation of the rules did not take TAG into account, I want them to know the rule for the future independent of this situation).
So if you want a thread where people agree with me, here you go: infinitytheforums.com/forum/topic/29106-dodge-from-bs-attack-out-of-lof-but-inside-control-and-mine/
Not my fault if you're talking about things that were never relevant for my original point. :P So basically, we're both right because we were never having an actual conversation, just talking past one another.
At 21:15, One of the Geckos couldn't shoot, but since he's a valid target for the Chainrifles from the Devil Dog, he can Dodge (albeit at a -6 for being a TAG, and additional -3 for being outside LOS, but it's better than... not having a dodge?)
Note that it didn't matter really.
But! TAGs do make Guts rolls, which you forgot.
+Angel Llera (Badgerfish) For some reason I thought they did not... I have no rational for that, either.
Leland Martel A couple don't specifically those without Pilots, like PanO TAGs, they cheat because they use drones ;p
Leland 16:38: "forward 8 inches and..."
me: not fit through the hole
Leland 16:43: "hopefully be able to...aw dang!"
At 22:33, that's not true mate, you can give them more orders from the regular pool. Irregular only just makes them so 'their order' cannot be contributed to the pool. You may still (read: should totally) rambo them into combat with more orders.
31:04, Ever seen someone nailed to a wall by an arrow in mid jump?
THAT JUST HAPPENED.
Great vid, guys. Love the dynamic camera angles and close-ups. Re: The Crit situation at minute 16, that's not how it works. A Crit cancels all opposing Crits, regardless of its numeric value. Any Crit of his cancels your Crit and vice versa. In addition, at minute 21 when the Geckos get shot, they both need to Guts Roll. Geckos aren't G:Remote, they have pilots inside, so they're subject to Guts Rolls.
5:18 - kudos for remembering speculative fire is a whole order! :D
if you tie for ingame points shouldn't you count surviving army points to determine winner?
Man i miss these MWG Infinity videos :(
Van Zant is actually the only unit (that I am aware of) with AD Lvl.X : Tactical Jump. It's Like airborne deployment, but he can even walk on board edges in the enemy deployment zone. I think you made a good choice where you brought him on, just wanted to point that out in case you didn't know :) For future evil plans.
what is the title of the dog guy so i can see him at the store pl;z
Did you forget courage/guts checks @ 22:34 ?
Also, at 23:40, why are your grunts not in a link? You would gained +1 burst for your Forward Observe on the HVT
+CrazyFalco Guts is something I am actively trying to remember. One of the problems I have is when I run a faction that has a mixture of courage and non courage...
As for the link, I just chose not to for this game. No real reason for it, to be honest.
+Leland Martel I admit I forget guts sometimes too. My trick is this;
Courage, Martial Arts, Morat, Religious, REM.
These are things that doesn't have to make checks. For everything else, there is a WIP test.
how does the dog guy keep not taking damage ?
Mobile Brigada AKA: Chumbawamba
+Angel Llera (Badgerfish) It really feels that way with Quirk's Brigada... He is a perpetual thorn in my side whenever he takes him
+Leland Martel The Best.
Wait til he learns that you can take 5 of them in a Link Team.
Your face: :) ----> :( ----> >:[
Damnit! He does not need to know that!
At least the models are hard to find...?
i dont understand why does the one player with the devil dogs keep moving his units into spots where they can be shot at why not stay in cover ?
william mcneil late reply, but the reason is the devil dogs have a rule for Impetuous which gives them an extra, personal order each turn but with the caveat it must be used before any other order and the first action must be directly towards the nearest enemy. also, Impetuous models don't get cover bonuses anyway.
15:56 - Smoke Special dodge by the Devil Dog Team. As per the rules on the wiki; wiki.infinitythegame.com/en/Smoke_Special_Ammunition#Smoke_and_Special_Dodge
You have to place the smoke template in such a way as to block LOF from any troops in which you wish to face to face against. The best way to achieve this? Throw smoke on yourself/your feet. I was very confused as to why you just let the agacuil shoot you..
Also 16:10 - crits cancel crits. In N3, your crits do not need to be of higher BS value than your opponents. You rolled a 19 for your crit, but if your opponent rolls any crits, they cancel your roll.
+CrazyFalco I will remember that fact about the crits one of these days...
+CrazyFalco Actually there's no restrictions on where to place the smoke, you can deliberately block some AROs and not others, just as they did, it simply doesn't affect the one's that don't have LoS blocked.
The rule you quoted says it all:
"Unlike other Special Ammunition, Smoke can be used to avoid enemy Attacks, but only if those Attacks require LoF and a Roll, and their LoF is blocked by the Smoke Circular Template being placed."
Only the attacks blocked by the template.
Sure, it was tactically unsound, but it was perfectly legal.
+Angel Llera (Badgerfish) Oh I am not saying it wasn't legal, I am just saying, it wasn't the best course of action.
You could throw the smoke in a place that doesn't block LOF to _all_ of the enemy troopers ARO;ing you, but why wouldn't you drop it on yourself.
You're a dogwarrior, hear me roar in CC. Came at me in the smoke, bro.
Hey, minute 32, camo marker moves and everyone with an ARO tries to discover. That's not mandatory, you know that, don't you? Other possible AROs are dodge, reset or hold your ARO. If you hold your AROs and the Hardcase reveals himself in his second short skill, you can declare shoot on him (but if he doesn't reveals you lose your ARO).
+yosoyashep True enough
Van Zan? Reign of Fire anyone? xP
+APC227 That's exactly what Van Zant is inspired by. Covus Belli's CEO's favorite model/character.
Awesome! :D I'm so gonna get this model!
Good Luck, it was a gen-con exclusive. Though there's another model with an axe I think. The first sculpt.
It will be rerelease do next year with a heavy pistol and an axe.
Yes, they are doing another new sculpt at some point in the near future, specially now that Ariadna is getting new stuff.
cool batrep :)
Moar Infinity!
