I've wanted to make this video for over five years. Ever since I saw this scene with Ron Swanson I've been wanting to give it a try. There were plenty of roadblocks, most notably trying to figure out what the metal type the sconce was, but I persevered! - Навчання та стиль
New tongue twister: "A ladle for ladling the liquified metal"
I think they probably used lead, so much easier to shape but hey, A++ for effort bro
@@silentracer911 A ladle for ladling the liquefied lead
Making a sconce just so you can melt it to make the rings is such a herculean level of effort for something so silly. Bravo sir.
I am exactly the kind of person who would do something like this. “Hmmm I could buy lace for the dress that I’m making, sure, or I could learn three different methods of lacemaking, not be satisfied with any of the results, finally break down and buy some lace. Yup, that’s definitely the better option.”
“Hmm I could just measure from the edge to make my hem, or I could sit here meticulously following one like of thread across the 60ish inches of fabric just to make sure it’s perfectly along the grainline, since I already made sure the pattern was on grain in the first place.” “Sure, I could roughly pin together these two fabric pieces together, align the notches, and sew, or I can measure along the entire edge what the seam allowance will be on both pieces, sew thread marking lines, line up the seam lines precisely, pin it once every centimeter, and stitch it with the walking foot to make sure the fabric doesn’t shift as I sew it.”
I tend to make things way harder for myself than they need to be.
It wasn't really a sconce...
I love how you just skimmed over the actual making of the rings, which would hands down be the hardest part lol
After the hassle with the sconce, the rings part actually did seem easier! I also wanted to keep it close to real-time of Rons instructions.
Tin is also a quite malleable metal
@@moderngoldsmith about how long did the ring part take you? Say, from melting down the sconce?
All you need is a crucible, acetylene torch and a cast iron waffle maker
This video wasn't recommended to me, I looked for a video like this because I was curious. You sir went above and beyond.
This man not just understood the assignment but he shaved his beard, made his own sconce, and dressed up like the man. Give this man an award.
Little Sebastian is smiling down on you
This made me LOL.
Thank you for bringing Ron Swanson into this, I wish I could like this 100 times
Best part " so I finally have a sconce that will work for this project", only to re-melt it 😆
I'm here because of Ron and the fact that he actually tweeted you, that's so amazing. Great work bud oh and a great video, this deserves more attention.
The only thing missing from this video was a pound of bacon 🥓
10/10 This is perfect! 😂
When you talked about embodying Ron Swanson I thought you were going to have a massive breakfast or a glass of Lagavulin (not recommended to mix alcohol and smithing for anyone who is not literally Ron Swanson).
This is the content we all want but don’t deserve
Exceeds Expectations. 12/10 would recommend. 👏🏼
I love how you recreated down the scene word for word, pause for pause, and mannerism for mannerism
This is insane. You're a champion.
The effort that went into this video!!!!!
The mustache was a nice touch. Ron would be proud.
Man, I'm glad I found this.
I was trying to make a circlet for a costume that was too thick for wire. I made it out of EVA foam, but after trying it on a few times, it was already falling apart; it was evident I'd need a studier option. I was wondering what I could do to fix this. I was a little nervous to try metal snips for a design like what I was going for. I kept thinking about this scene from Parks and Rec and thinking "I wonder if this is real," and "If it IS real, I wonder how hard it would be to make a custom mold, rather than a waffle iron."
I came here just to see if melting metal was as easy as Ron made it seem in this clip (I've used most of the shaping tools for other projects, but I didn't know about the whole "melting into a mold thing). If it was, I was going to look into the logistics of making a mold that wasn't a waffle iron.
But in your endeavors to make a sconce, you actually answered BOTH of my questions, and specified what metal would be best. Thank you so much!
Solid gold, baby or should I say TIN!!! Absolutely incredible. Didn't disappoint!
Ok this video is amazing, the ingenuity..
Let's get this video more views. It deserves it!
Well I am going to need to buy one of those rings now.
severely underrated, love this, your talent/comedy/efforts are appreciated!!
The level of commitment to the bit was truly 🤌🏼
Ohhh wow that was really enjoyable!!!! Wow amazing work🤯❤️🤍
Dedication! With this, you've earned my first ever UA-cam comment. If you didn't have the title 'Master' before, you have it now!
Is this finally the moment? I think you’re right. Now I just need to find someone to pay in vegetables and the cycle will be completed
I think Ron would aprove of the fact that when you couldn't find the scone you needed, you made it yourself.
I love that you actually shaved your beard!
I’ve been waiting years for this video! So good!!!
Looking at Ron’s video, I would have guessed the sconce was made of pewter - which also has quite a low melting point. But either pewter or tin - making your own sconce is pretty badass! You really are the man!!! Ron would be proud.
I wish this had more views. I really appreciate this video! Thanks for all your content!
Thank you for the time and effort that went into this! Such a joy to watch. :)

Amazing Video man.
You have the best content
a perfect video idea
This was great!
THE MUSTACHE. I can’t describe how much I loved this video
Amazing 🤩
Loved this video! Great content!
I got a question for you...
My wedding band is tungsten carbide with an epoxy inlay. The clear epoxy is yellowing.
Would a decent jeweler be able to clear out the yellowed inlay and replace it with something more lasting?
I LOVE THIS!
You should TOTALLY sell these on your site!
Haha not a bad idea!
This was so much fun to watch!!! Wish I could do something like this but I'm way too accident prone ^
That was amazing
Quality Content
Hi!! I am a fan of gridlessness, would love to see you making a video with them..
