This is certainly the best video review of this multi-effects modeler that I have seen (after dozens), honest and fairly comprehensive. Kudos. I own a Fender Tone Master Twin Reverb, that is also an amazing modeler. I believe that we are entering a new era of digital modeling, with the Mooer GE200 and others in a similar price range leading the way for start-up musicians, that is evolving how music is composed, played, and recorded. Creativity often favors the young and experimental, with new tools in their hands. In the future, I expect to see a flowering of new styles and compositions.
Ive owned one for a bit over 2 years now. Solid product. My footswitches are sometimes finicky and require a solid press now vs a light tap before. But I got it used for 150euro so, no complaints. It turns out there are a lot of amp captures from higher end models that actually load into the GE200. Ive found all sorts of amazing combos with captured preamps and impulse responces with the power amp option on. Its an amazing practice unit. You can play live with it. But Id still prefer my more durable amp and speaker combo, this is always a backup.
Just bought one used, put it through the effects return of my orange micro dark and the teenie tiny little 8 inch speaker cabinet. VERY surprised with how solid it sounded through it.
Thank you for your amazing review. I've came here to watch your review but I loved your playing style. Such a fantastic sound. Whichever pedal you have, you can play like amazing 👍
Im very happy with mine. Had the chance to use live concerts right before pandemic and works pretty well. Just don't like the feedback sustain compared with stomp pedals. Nice presets. I do play jazz fusion with mine 😉
Thanks for honest review. I just got right answers to some questions I had. Besides all mentioned, the rubber feet falling off is common problem to many producers of such devices. They had fell of from Zoom and Boss devices as well. Stupid little things, but annoying :)
Thanks for a great review. I've been using a Digitech RP360 for a good few years and liking it. I'm thinking that the Mooer GE200 would be a good replacement for it at some time, quite similar to use but probably a bit more up to date. I thought the amp sims and reverbs were especially nice. Thanks again and I really enjoyed your playing, a mix of styles and very good skills. 👋👋
Fantastic in depth review and the playing style was so tasteful and gorgeous I have to try transcribe some of these demos some time. Definitely considering getting one of these, my only reservation is being able to easily switch between clean and distorted tones, I imagine I'd have to use a seperate distortion pedal and have it be wrong in the chain, or use one expression pedal purely for the gain. Wanting to get a multi-fx for live and practise to replace my many pedals, I imagine I could sell enough pedals to afford this, Even though the build quality will be better hard to justify more than double the price on a boss gt1000 or hx stomp
Thanks, really pleased you enjoyed it! There is actually a way to assign one of the stomp buttons to turn any effect on and off - so you could have a clean amp model and then an overdrive which you turn on and off via the foot switch, just like a traditional pedal/amp setup.
It's great to see a review of the unit, from someone who has actually used it and put it through it's paces. Too many of these reviews are "Unboxing" style videos done by people who haven't even used the product. First impressions can be useful, but don't always tell the complete story.

I want to play along some backing track and sometimes may sing along. Would I be better of using this Mooer GE200 with a guitar amp or a compact PA system (such as the Behringer K900FX Ultratone 90W 3-Channel PA System & Keyboard Amplifier)? Thanks.
I've had one of these for a few years now, and it's a more than capable unit - I also own an HX Stomp by way of comparison. I'm afraid Mooer get a pretty bad rep for some reason....the same went for Mooers Ocean Machine double delay/reverb/looper unit (which I also own 😆) All the Strymon fanboys slagged it off most likely without ever using one, and yeh, while the weird delays such as Crystal, Galaxy etc did disappoint me, most of the more regular delays & reverbs are more than adequate. I think people hate Mooer because they're lower priced than most, and made in China....but fail to realise that their Strymons, Kempers, Helixes and whatever other electrical goods are also made in China 😆 Me, I couldn't care less about any of that snobbery nonsense if I'm getting something that's of decent quality and a good price. It's their loss 👍
Really nice video, Andy! Considering buying a new one and Mooer seems to be offering really interesting stuff. Still wondering if to go for this, for the GE250 or a used GE300, though. Since I'll only use it for home practicing and recording, this is a very strong possibility for me, so your video provided really helpful information. Thank you for that!
One of these has come up for sale near me in Inverness so I am hunting for reviews…. It’s a looper with a decent record time that’s sparked my interest tbh. Great playing btw.. do you still do lessons?
Works a treat! GE200 and a vocal mic plugged into my focusrite, Zoom automatically takes the audio from both channels. You need a way to monitor the guitar through - I use an aux cable from the Mooer headphone output to my studio monitors 👍
Hello brother, what Greek mode are you using in this intro jam solo of the video, I'm trying to learn it now and this mode sounds very beautiful, thank you
Glad you like! The first section is just in Ionian mode (G major scale). The second part has an Ebmaj7 to Dm7 to G7 progression over which I'm playing G aeolian (over the Eb chord) and G mixolydian (over the Dm7 and G7) 😃👍🏻
Hi, Andy, thanks for a useful review. When reviewing the audio interface side of these things, it is always important to mention full duplex capability (will it play the DAW backing track while recording?) and latency (does it come the it's own ASIO driver, what is the sample size and best latency in ms that you were able to achieve?)
Hi, I am recently approaching IR. I have a Mooer GE200 and I wanted to ask you if on this pedalboard it is possible to use presets designed with non-factory IRs. If I load a preset but I don't have the IR of the preset in the Mooer GE200, will I get the Cab of the preset or will I have to buy it separately? Thank you.
Thanks for the review mate! Can you change from one preset to another preset while on live?? I mean can you go from distorted preser to clean preset just for one press of a button??
Yes, you can toggle between presets using the two stomp switches without any noticeable delay, or you can use the CTRL/TAP switch to turn on/off a distortion pedal within the one preset as needed 👍
Yes but... You will have to "copy and paste" say pre-set # 2 (fender twin clean) to one of the "empty" spaces and then do the same for your "lead" pre-set in the adjacent "empty" space...for instance clean in space 120 and lead in space 121...you CANNOT 1 click from say the factory pre-set 3 to factory pre-set 12 w/o clicking the "up" switch 9 times... It's quite easy to do the copy & paste...less than 2 minutes per pre-set :)
Hi matey, I do sometimes use the USB function for recording but I like going through the Focusrite as I can control monitors/headphone levels more easily 😎🎸👍

Unfortunately not - only one at a time. Similarly the compressors and wahs are bundled into the same fx block, so you can't have compression AND wah at the same time, annoyingly.
There are so many great reviews on this unit I thought this would be the best bang for the buck but using this live with an amplifier 85% of the time I'm experiencing white noise which is very disturbing. Have you experienced this issue with your use of the Mooer ge200? If I can eliminate this problem this would be my ideal upgrade for my overall live sound.
I haven't had that problem myself - nightmare! What's your setup - Mooer into front of the amp or in FX loop, and are you using the amp/cab models? I know a lot of people use these kind of units with an FRFR speaker or powercab rather than an actuall amp, not sure why there would be white noise though.
@@AndyWattGuitar my main setup doesn't have an effects loop which does quite it down some but I tend to sacrifice tone going through a loop in one of my other amps. I'm going straight to the front of my amp with or without other effects with the same issue.
The GE200 only has one input (jack, not XLR) and can't provide phantom power for the condenser mic I use for talking in zoom lessons. Also, if I ran a mic through it, it would have all the effects on it, which would sound rather odd....
