Great review!! In my opinion, tonality and sound is not super relevant since almost any guitar can sound like you want. What could make a difference is in playability, finishing, neck, tunning stability etc. A Squier can sound like a 20.000€ strat.

What would guitarists talk about if they couldn't talk about tiny variances in tone that are unperceivable to their audience?

Im the camp of they both sound fine n not different enough to start a war. Just go with the one that feels better in your hands…

I have that squire. I hate the pick ups. The playability is fantastic though. I bought a pre wired 51/63 pick up pick guard. It will really upgrade the sound

Squier is abit more hit and miss, Sire seems to have qc bit more sorted. Just avoid lemons 😅 Other than that I was to decide between a 60's CV and S3 and bought the S3 (hss).

I went in to guitar center yesterday looking for a Yamaha Pacifica. They had none! I grabbed this guitar at random and was floored! The neck was amazing! I'm stunned at the price! I have an old school Chanel, a MIM strat and an American made Tele. This vintage Strat is great! 🎉

I think the Squier looks more like a Strat. That said, you looked a little more comfortable on the Sire, as if you're a little less concerned with the instrument and more with the actual playing. Nice work!

If only all gear demos were this good! Here we have a real person, not sponsored, who can actually play guitar really well, and who uses a variety of gear including non-snobby options like the Squier, and perhaps most importantly lets you hear what it sounds like in the room without any kind of recording interface BS. So thank you! And one question - the noise issue at higher volumes has been the only thing holding me back from this purchase, but some of the sound samples you kindly provided, especially the Strat with the plexi, sounded really loud and great. I can’t imagine needing more volume than that. Can you tell me how high you had the volume up for that and would it be fair to say that that was pretty loud in the room without experiencing any of the noise issues? Sorry for the long-winded message, but thanks again!

This is the reason I bought this guitar last week. SO versatile. And so easy to play. It does play itself.

I think the Squire sits in the background a little more but the Sire has that Larry attitude and enunciation which suits your chops.

I have the sire S7 outstanding Guitar I was going to get the Silver sky se in the reviews there was some problems and a feeling of cheap parts so I elected for the sire and it is beautiful

It's great to see a review of the unit, from someone who has actually used it and put it through it's paces. Too many of these reviews are "Unboxing" style videos done by people who haven't even used the product. First impressions can be useful, but don't always tell the complete story.

Great playing, great review. I have a T7 and L7. Both have the same quality that you talk about on this H7.

Oh I was wondered what that did. Always saw it on diagrams. But if you have great speaker for the kind of output, you can basically throw away any difference in pickups with good pedals. Tone is almost all in the speaker. Get a cheap soldering iron and also find some old tech. Start by removing some components. You can get used to it a lil that way. Then put them back on using new solder. You can look up how to remove solder. There are solder suckers that help. Just as they sound it is a lil thing quickly sucks in air and hopefully your solder (that is heated).

The Wegen surprised me. I didn't expect to produce such a loud sound. I had tried similar picks with comparable results (thick pick with an unexpectedly loud sound). I will likely play with many different plectrum over time to see what differences might emerge. Thank you for the comparison.

Thank you for the video. For this video setup, how is mini mic'd up (or is it hooked up through USB)? I've been trying to judge volume of the spark mini over acoustic noise of playing an electric guitar when practicing. I'll probably just have to get one and return it if I don't like it. :) I like the way it sounds in this video but other videos it sounds so quiet so it is hard to tell.

Quite possibly the best overview of these D20 amps and by extension the REVV small amplifiers in general. Obviously major kudos to your playing. You’ve managed to out-shred the shredders and show off this amp’s full range of capabilities all while playing mostly clean 👍🏻 🤣 I’m an older player that loves tubes, but has a split personality when it comes to playing preferences! I’ll go through jazzy stages, classic rock & blues stages, but I’ll also have the occasional metal flourish as well and the REVV line of small amps just seem to do it all with great build and a genuine understanding of what actual players want and need. - Tube interaction, check - 20w to 4w, check - Endless possibilities, check I’ve basically gone for a left turn and moved away from the traditional Marshalls and Fenders to REVV and it has IMO been a great decision. I won’t even go into the current qc issues that these other companies seem to be okay with these days and the ever increasing “new normal” pricing… Just pick up a G20/D20 and be done.

I like the Sire just a bit more. But for the sound, specs and finish I'll take a Firefly FFST for half the price. Roasted maple neck, rosewood or maple fretboard depending on model, locking tuners, ball end stainless steel frets, bone nut, Alnico V pickups and some amazing finishes. $169 to $259 depending on model...plus $27 shipping. I'm thinking they only ship to the US at this time though.
