Enterprise destroys Discovery (Short Treks: Farewell Discovery)

- My own 7-minute “Short Trek” created by editing together scenes from six episodes of Star Trek: Discovery, sound effects from Star Trek: The Next Generation, and an extensive number of tweaks and fixes (including improving the lack of starship engine rumbling in Discovery). UPDATE - IT'S HAPPENING, STAR TREK: STRANGE NEW WORLDS IS NOW OFFICIAL!

At first I was like “this is exactly how the finale was” until they showed the Discovery being destroyed. I need a Pike, Number One and Spock series in my life!!!!!!
Hi Brianna, if you play the finale side-by-side you'll find it's quite different - although I've made the sequence flow and blend quick and smooth it's quite a different edit to the actual episode... and (regardless of the destruction) works much better I think :) I'm thinking of creating an entirely original episode next given how well this one worked out :)
No more Spocks please

Last Chance Sometimes employees of computer software companies are allowed use company equipment to produce short films such as this. This allows companies to test equipment and software and helps with employee moral and creativity. Mind you, this was produced in an employees spare, unpaid time. If this film was produce by someone in their own home,....... a lot of people would love to know what equipment was used.
lllpatricklll1 I’m pretty sure this is just footage from season two of Star Trek discovery spliced together to have a different outcome.
Well I'm young(ish, 31 soon) and I'm impressed by the quality.

Yes, it was all Discovery footage
So many people are going to think this really happened. It’s done so well.
I did. And after I just watched the 2nd serie I was like : "wait, what!?" 😃
Makes sense. So many fake fans acted like they gave Discovery a chance... When they actually different. All because a show didn't suit their fragile egos.

Anson Mount made a great Cpt Christopher Pike!! Hope we get to see him in this role again!! 😃
I agree. Great Pike.
We are supposed to in a few Star Trek short episodes.
I agree. A Pike series please.
Gary Kubodera he’s coming to my hometown this weekend, so I’ll ask him about the possibility.
Hell yeah, more of him!
Number One was originally played by Majel Barrett, Gene Roddenberry's wife, in the pilot episode "The Cage". She also gave her voice to the ship's computer and played Lwaxana Troy in The Next Generation.
Nurse Chappel.
It's generally believed that the network didn't think people were ready for a woman to be the XO back in the day, but the other thing going on was that the then-married GR was having an affair with MB and it wasn't taken well. I gather that Number One's intellectual take on things was something of an inspiration for Spock. He was a "hot character" in Nimoy's own words in the first pilot, but became more intellectual afterwards.
I love this crew! Mount, Romijn, and Peck are awesome together! The Enterprise feels like home. I hope CBS is listening! You did a great job, Mr.Till!

@@carltonharris4474 And yet... they did and the new series started in next year with Pike as Enterprise Captain will be called "Strange New Worlds".

The show titles "Enterprise" is what I thought would be about.
The lady that played NUmber One, Rebecca Romjin, who also played Mystique in the first couple of X-Men movies. Good job!!!
And she used to be married to John Stamos.
Now that's the Star Trek I know and enjoyed. Number One is outstanding.
Who knew they still have boob jobs in the 23rd century🤣
Nothing was explained. How was that good?
For those who may have watched Discovery series and not remembered this was how it happened: This is a fan-made clip. In the series, USS Discovery could not be destroyed after an attempt to blow it up, so the plan was to send it centuries into the future. It was successful and future Discovery series will take the story from there. It's a clever if sheepish way to avoid breaking cannon of TOS because the show Discovery is a prequel to TOS.
There is always something familiar and comforting seeing Enterprise crew in their colourful uniforms. The Discovery uniforms looked too militaristic and bland for my eyes.
No military in their right mind would wear those uniforms. Who thought weaving in that gold filigree every damn place they could was a good idea?
Militaristic? Like with ENT, the Discovery crew is wearing NASA jumpsuit-inspired blue uniforms. A militaristic uniform would be something with a camouflage pattern. You know, like what the US Space Force and US Navy wears.

Don't care how people feel about Discovery. This Enterprise, Captain Pike, Number 1, Spock and There Warp Jumps are Amazing.
I dont care about Enterprise shes wasnt the star of the show, Discovery was the only ship of her kind, advance and bigger than any crappy connie class cruisers. I respect Discovery in everyway like every other Startrek Series. Oh sure the Enterprise looks cool but still shes old school and always has been time to add new series of other ships in startrek perhaps StarTrek Picard or Horizon.
SR71ABCD - BETA TYSON glad you feel that way. To many off us, the Enterprise was every bit the star of the FRANCHISE, as big as Kirk, Spock and/or McCoy. She's the ship that fueled a generation's obsession with the idea of space travel and exploration. You may think it’s time to move on, but the history of THIS ship matters.
The Enterprise was the real star of TOS not Kirk and friends. The opening monologue clearly says that the starship Entreprise was on a mission. The crew was just along for the ride.
The Enterprise took us to so many strange new worlds She would often take a beating but somehow she always managed to survive and get her crew out of so many predicaments
And now she has done us all a great favour by destroying the Discovery. Thank you Entreprise for a job well done.

@MrHoppers002 The first two of those shorts have been pure garbage.
@MrHoppers002 Yes; one with a grinning Spock singing and the other showcasing a bumbling retarded buffoon as a Starfleet officer with absurd genetic manipulation of popcorn Tribbles. Nicely done! Yes a Captain Pike Trek series is desired :)
What I would give that this were the show CBS produced, instead of what they've given us. An Enterprise-based show w/ Pike and Spock would be great.

Bring on Star Trek: Pike!
Now that's an STP I can get into.
They did an amazing job designing the Enterprise. She's a beauty of a ship, inside and out.
And very similar of the original
No they did. No need to change her
I like the newer look of TOS Enterprise NCC1701, but she is too large IMHO... both ships are just way too large to be TOS or Pre-TOS ships! The bridge's are both larger and more advanced looking than a Galaxy Class starship bridge and that just ain't right IMHO it ruins the ability to suspend my disbelief here.
And I could have done without the "Well were do you want to go next #1?" and "Well you're the captain, where do YOU want to go next?" banter... that was ridiculous, IMHO! I blame the writers whoever they are, that was just a complete waist of oxygen. :-|
@@MShrader211 nope, both are crap.
Paul Rasmussen might be an updated design, “but she’s got the right name. Now, you remember that. You hear?”

The overall consensus is that a Star Trek: Captain Pike series leading up to the Menagerie, would be a major hit with this crew and would be even more successful if it returned to the CBS network! Too glitzy. Too shiny. This is supposed to be a ship of exploration, not the lobby of some new highrise.
My main problem is both the view screen is made of glass and way too big. I know it needed making bigger to fit more a bigger set, since a bridge of the originals scale for thr ships size was always odd, but it is way too big and way too dangerous.

Sure, a series of films written by a bunch of midwits that failed high school physics. This show is dreadfully awful in even basic known science.
You would think in the 23rd century they would have an easier way of destroying a spacecraft without producing a mess of debris; like, sending a ship into a sun for example.
J Allen Sending anti-matter engines into a star, no matter how big the star, might have unforeseen consequences.
You would think that in medieval days they broke rock and stone with brute force, making a mess of things...todays we use machines to break rock and stone and still produce a mess..instead of evaporating it with some acidic substance...oh how humans are so illogical.

A more classic Spock response would have been: "My opinion about the sound of taking the Enterprise for s spin is illogical, since there is no sound in space."
Your logic is unassailable. In space, no one can hear you spin.

They should make a series farther in the future. Maybe late 25th century. The Romulans can be part of the Federation by this point. The Borg could be allies of the Federation, kind of like the Klingon were allies in TNG. The Dominion could be rivals, like the Romulans were in TNG. By this point, Starfleet would have explored most of the Milky Way Galaxy. In the original series, there were invaders from the Andromeda galaxy who were capable of traveling at warp 15. These aliens could launch a much larger invasion in the 25th century. The Dominion, The Federation, and the rest of the Milky Way galaxy can unite to face the great invader.
In a way you are getting your dream - TNG leaped us 80 years to a much grander and peaceful Federation, Star Trek: Picard (20 years after TNG) sounds like it will show us the Federation heading into darker times, and series 3 of Star Trek: Discovery (32nd century) it so far appears the Federation has crumbled to a tiny shell of what it once was. At this very early stage it feels very much like Star Trek: Enterprise where a single Starfleet vessel united many worlds to combat common threats - perhaps you are right many worlds will once again unite against a great invader or threat but this time it will be Discovery leading the pack. After a rough start I am feeling the new Star Trek team are heading in the right direction - so long as we also get a Pike series to top it all off :)
@@tillsy1701 Presumably, there were many ships like the Enterprise over centuries, which united many worlds. I would have thought by the 32nd century, the Federation would have reached the Virgo cluster. What you've described is the exact opposite of what I'd like to see. However, I'm curious if the banned planet in TOS is accessible by the 32nd century.
Seems like you're describing what STD SHOULD have been, at least in terms of the premise, rather than what was actually presented.
@MrHoppers002 Kirk didn't make peace with the Kelvins, just convinced that small band to accept their new forms and assimilate (no pun intended) into Federation society. We have no idea what the 25th century Kelvins would be like.
@MrHoppers002 That small band hijacked the Enterprise in order to return home to the Andromeda galaxy and report on what the learned, since their ship was destroyed and they had no other means of communication. So, the Kelvin empire was still an outside threat, albeit a distant one, one that could conceivably arise in ST's 25th century.
I like some of the sound effects of the old and the new together
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the UI when navigation is engaged...
It would have been even better if the original USS Enterprise would have shown up with Capt.Kirk & crew from Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country with Capt.Sulu with the USS Excelsior to this alternative timeline and took it out.
I would have approved such action.
Pretty good use of when the discovery blew up that other Discovery class ship in episode three season one. 👍

I'm glad they are doing a Star Trek Strange New Worlds with Captain Pike (Anson Mount) and Crew of the Enterprise.
Wow, this Enterprise looks WAY better than the new movies. Close to the original with some obviously necessary modernizations.
25% different to avoid paying the Roddenberry's estate's due royalties, that's why the Enterprise was changed. Same reason why SW is different, when Disney uses any original characters, locations or objects, Luca's gets royalties, so do stuff like change the Falcon's Dish to be square and not round, and it's not Luca's falcon but Disney's, no royalties. Truly a shame what Abrams and co did to both these franchises. Though in the end it's CBS and Disney respectively that deserve the lion's share of the blame.
@Agent Exeider Roddenberry's son is fully involved with Discovery (he's actually a producer on the show). The Falcon's dish was smashed off in Return of the Jedi (a bit embarrassing for Lando who promised Solo "not a scratch") so I thought it a nice touch in The Force Awakens they used a different looking dish to acknowledge it had been replaced.
Agent Exeider in this next (and last) Skywalker movie, the Falcon has a round dish again. You can see it in the latest trailer. I thought the rectangle dish looked ridiculous. I’m glad they got the round one back
I've gotten used to the lower profile one - but it is much more classic being round. I just hope there is an explanation for it being changed.
@@tillsy1701 Because it's hard to make a parabolic square! A dish is round because a parabola (which focuses rays at it's, you guessed it, 'focus') in the third dimension is round. A 3D square with 4 parabolic sides in poorly efficient.
If they literally copied the style of the original with other ships besides Enterprise, it would be a hit.
Exactly
Pikard: Engage
Pike: Hit it
I love "hit it". Guessing they made something similar to Picards "Engage".
I am grateful for this. It is as close as we will get, to an acknowledgement that Discovery was a mistake. Let's move on.
I like the bridge of this Enterprise better than Abrams'. Just seems more like classic Trek.
Yup. That is a great way to balance updating with classic influences.
I think that was the point, this is the same universe and while it is arguably the same ship, there are different designs of the Kelvin one.
Man this was not a send off, it was a set up for a new series. They do not build, from scratch, new sets for only a few scenes. They will be making a new Pike series!
As a life long Star Trek fan I absolutely love Discovery and would love to see a show focusing on the further adventures of Captain Pikes Enterprise.
Same. Looks like we're getting our wish
Be nice to meet up with the future captain James T kirk
I don't have CBS Access so I was trying to keep up with the show via internet blogs and I thought this was a clip from the ending of the show. That is until I read the description. You did a wonderful job with your short film. After reading the comments I think CBS should take some pointers from you on how to end the show.
Captain Till, this was AMAZING.....I had no freaking clue you created it @ first, I thought it was one of the actual shorts like Spock trapped in the Turbo Lift w/ Number One.....your 7-minute short was better than the entire Discovery Series!
Thank you :) Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has now been officially announced overnight, very exciting 👍
I can tell the disconnection when I see the sudden change of uniform on the captain and spock entrance at end, that part might have been best to remove.
"She's all yours Chris."
This was cathartic and the ending to Discovery (ship & show) that I wanted to see.
As far as I'm concerned this is the new "canon" and I can ignore the new series with a clean view of Star Trek.
Excellent work, you've done the community a great service!
