Reworking of Quantum Leap
I have just introduced my daughter to another of my old favourites - Quantum Leap. It took a couple of seasons for this show to evolve to a perfect format, so I’ve taken the opportunity to edit and fix the earlier seasons for her. For example the show used to start with:
1. Sam talking about Quantum Leap, which makes no sense because his memory is Swiss cheesed
2. The opening credits
3. Sam STILL talking about some of his prior leaps (episodes)
4. Finally the actual episode then starts
Whereas I have changed each episode to be how the show was in later seasons:
1. An introduction to Quantum Leap by Ziggy (the AI computer) - I used the earlier version of this to fit better with some of the earlier seasons
2. Merged the end of that introduction to leap directly into the actual episode (and just a brief moment or two of it)
3. The opening credits (which for season 1 I used the primitive season 1 credits to keep it as is, but I switch to season 2 credits the next season)
4. Continuation of the episode
This was actually more work than I anticipated to carve up the episodes to get them to smoothly work in that format.
Furthermore Al used to “spontaneously” appear in scenes, whereas later in the show he would enter via the imaging chamber door. I already spent a lot of time carving up these episodes, so rather than creating the special effects I instead added the sound of the chamber door immediately prior to Al appearing on screen (except where there is reason for him to already be there) - timing and volume of the open and close varying to suit the scene.
There were also many episodes where at the end of the story Sam would leap into the wrong episode. The most famous being his first leap into a woman - happens at the end of season 1 but that episode does not happen until later in season 2. Likewise a few episodes, the Jesse story in particular as it was very powerful, were repeated on television which messes up the leaps even on Blu-ray. So I redid all those leaps so each episode correctly leaps into the next - I even made my own mistake in this process and leaped an episode to a wrong season, so had to fix a fix 😃
There were some more tweaks here and there, but as they say “Han shoots first!” - I haven’t changed the episodes just tweaked the format to be more consistent throughout the 5 seasons. This video is a brief sample of some of those changes… hopefully my daughter enjoys it even more as a result 😊

Direct Freight Express Fake Delivery

Friday 18th March 2022 Direct Freight Express made a fake delivery of 13 boxes to our home. He pulled up, waited four minutes, placed a consignment slip (not missed delivery card) in our letterbox, and drove off. He did not ring our doorbell (which is a loud mechanical chime AND pages our mobile phones) nor did he knock on the door. My phone number was on the consignment slip however he did not...

In addition to being a horrible show, Discovery is an ugly-ass ship.
If only Discovery HAD been destroyed. We would be so much better off. But at least that dumpster fire has finally been cancelled. SNW looked decent at first but that was short lived. Great cast. Terrible writing. Kurtzman is a plague on Star Trek. So was Jar Jar Abrams (the franchise killer).

Discovery should have ended exactly like this. Between the pathetic burn storyline and the new characters discovery should have never jumped to the future. Horrible writers and casting played a huge part of its downfall lol

They got it wrong that wasn't the Discovery we see being destroyed this scene of the ship being destroyed by photon torpedoes is not the Discovery it's her sister ship the U.S.S. Glenn she was equipped with the same spore drive as the Discovery but something went wrong and the entire crew was killed and the Glenn was destroyed by Discovery.

The ending is ridiculous. If Discovery is destroyed, then who sent the 7th signal? And why would Spock be happy to see it? And what about the 6th signal?

Since Discovery is ending in 2024 this will be a good ending and setoff for the Discovery Crew as Captain Georgiou part of Section 31 Movie being announced this will see the Discovery Crew returning home from the 32nd Century and being told not to tell about what the future lies ahead.
They are not going back to the 23rd century. And the Section 31 movie is supposedly set during the Lost Era.
My favorite moment!
This was truly an astonishing feat of editing. I am curious about something, though. In the context of the short, is the Discovery being treated as some kind of anomaly? Because from the way you cut it, having the Discovery's crew disappear from the scene, and the Enterprise crew's uniforms return to normal, along with the sudden shift in the Enterprise's location, leads me to believe that you set the Discovery up to be some kind of focal point for a temporal paradox. If that's the case, I tip my hat even further off my head to you, sir!

Jonathan Archer and the NX-01 should have warped in and taken out both of them. Strange New Worlds is just as bad as Discovery if not worse after the "musical" episode. Enterprise was the last great Star Trek show.

Watching these scenes again reminds me of how happy I am that SNW gots to be it's own unique thing and not run by the Discovery people, whose writing and aesthetic style has always rubbed me the wrong way. Pike and Spock and Chin-Riley and their nameless bridge crew gazing around inspirationally like the Discovery crew love to do just felt wrong. Do you hear that future Star Trek shows! Less lingering shots of people gazing inspirationally!
