- Hey what's going on guys!
So over the last couple of months I have been all over the place, so sorry for the lack of uploads!
From the title you can probably guess that I have been out in the Amazon rainforest and over the coming few weeks I'm taking you behind the scenes on the trip setting up remote cameras. I'm looking to track down that illusive image of a big cat, in one of the most incredible places on the planet! Wish me luck!
In Peru I have been staying with the awesome CREES foundation at the MLC in Manu. Over the last 30 years they have taken an area of deforested farmland and by working with local people, with a solid conservation strategy have shown just what's possible by bringing the rainforest and animals back to this part of Manu!

Ah, amazing! We've been really looking forward to this, can't wait to see how you get on! Sam.
Cheers guys, lots on route with camera trapping and shooting in the jungle!
man what a beautiful place. would love to travel to more exotic places
thanks for sharing this with us, really enjoyed watching this
The start of a great adventure, so glad you made it to Peru! The music you used is great, much better than other latin stuff that I know, you have to suffer in the bus 😁
Haha yes the bus music is something that has to be experienced to be understood! As you'll see I had my headphones in trying to drown it out but eventually you have to taken em out and well... The latin music still plays, one of the three songs you've had the whole way! Lots more to come, thanks for watching!
Amazon, nice! And yes this is what we want - trips out in the field - w00t!
Lots to come from the Rainforest - 5 weeks camera trapping and shooting in the jungle!
I've been shooting Heron's imgur.com/xE1SHDJ ; and now the southern migratory season has started I'm going after a variety of Hawks and other Buteo's here in Southern Ontario, Canada.
EXCITING! What a dream to go cameratrapping jaguars :) Best of luck to you Tom. Lovely video as always.
It certainly was a dream trip back out to Manu, I was lucky enough to travel here a number of years back, but this really was exciting travelling back with the camera traps!
So hyped to watch this!!!
Cheers Jake, 8 vids in bound over the next month or so, + some bonus content to make up or me being away!
Tom Mason oh that’s great! Gonna be so good, can’t wait to see them!
Lucky you mate! Looking awesome and will follow this series for sure! All the best and catch up soon!
I'm London side in a couple of weeks possibly, lets try and catch up then!
Oh definitely, I am away next week so timing is good! Catch you later mate!
Hey! What a great video and love your work! I have one question that i genuinely still can’t answer for myself. I love wildlife photography but my country’s wildlife especially when it comes to mammals is extremely limited and because of that I feel like wildlife photography is getting a bit boring. Furthermore, im upgrading my gear soon so im not sure if i should get gear more suited for daily life/ portraiture photography or wildlife. I love shooting animals but at the end of the day i have no idea if its a good investment due to the lack of wildlife in my country.
There’s no doubt your star is rising, and well earned too! A fascinating video, and you certainly explained everything really well. For some reason I haven’t been getting notifications from your channel.
Cheers Mark, notifications are a problem, you have to click the bell and opt in! Lots of content on route - I’m uploading episode 3 as I type!
Tom Mason My Bell was clicked, but this has happened with other channels, I’ve unsubscribed and resubscribed which usually works.
Great video.. Do more wildlife and bird photography video if possible..
I shall do, I'm just making my plans for the next few months up to Xmas so Ill try get some Bird photo vids in!
amazing video! looks so adventurous. did you get your camera traps from sponsors?
Thanks for the comment - the Camera traps are mine (cameras, flashes, cables, housings etc) however was lucky to get a few extra (I already had one set) of the Cognisys Scouts for the trip to test out and use in the field. The guys were awesome in setting me up with a few to test out and trial in the rainforest to help me track down and make the most of the opportunity!
Ive brought together a fair amount of kit over the last few years of being a pro and working on different assignments to trial new types of images etc. I didn't buy it all in one go!
@@TomMasonPhoto very cool!
Been missing your videos. Quality over quantity is maybe your biggest strength, but I hope it becomes more regular.
Well you'll be glad to here there are 8 or so episodes on route from the jungle + I have big plans for this channel that I've been busy working on! The next few years will hopefully bring much content for you guys!
Great to hear!
Gonna get the 500 f5.6 PF? Its super small.
I'm going to try and get one for a review ASAP - I'd certainly love one for travelling! might be a 2019 purchase!
Great place! Did You took some cameratrap pictures? :)
How long will You stay there?
I stayed out in the forest for 6 weeks, and put three cameras out... Images... You'll have to wait a see ;)
I will wait no matter what, so You can tell ;). Great adventure, i wish You luck.
