When training with a big company like HYBE you also have better options if you don't debut with the team you could have and get offers from other labels and maybe that will be your path.
It's rather interesting how they tell the story - because they step into the parent role but also at a time when the trainees often begin to step away from their own parents to become more self-reliant.
Debut means performing your own music, filming your MVs, going on music shows/variety shows and promote with managers who show you where you need to be . in a way it is less freedom as now you have the same schedule as your team and have far less time to "better" yourself.
It's a bit like graduating as you said.
