Love the Lustau for it's uniqueness in the Irish space. Dry, dark fruit, and never thought nuttiness until you said it! I know prices vary, but wish I saw it that low here in MN. Great review as always Peter!
I am enjoying my journey too, Peter! RB, RBCS and RBL are all on my list. See what comes on sale first! I've had and like the RBL, but not back to back with RB or RBCS. Would make a nice comparison video, just sayin'..... : )
I agree it's a good one. I think this was the first bottle of Redbreast I bought. Even before I bought the 12 year. In fact it might have been one of my earliest bottles I bought when I started my journey. Cheers!
I would put it a step below the CS, but not by much. Not sure if you can find it at a bar/restaurant that has a good selection of whiskey, but if you find it I think it's worth a shot.
This one had some mixed reviews online but I found it to be great for my palate. As a fan of spanish brandy and sherry this really seemed to bring some nice familiar notes to the redbreast party. I'm glad this one hasn't gotten tatered up like the px and kentucky oak.
@@whiskeyisajourney I like them both, I'm just saying that most remaining bottles of both have been priced up, meaning out of my price range. Both of those are currently selling north of 200 wherever I can find them. I'm lucky I already have a bottle of the kentucky oak, but was too late for the px
@@graveshotx my PX review is coming out in 2 weeks. Review is already shot and ready to go. Kentucky Oak will be 3 weeks later. I like them both as well but only have a backup of the Kentucky Oak. Kicking myself for not getting another PX.
@@whiskeyisajourney yes it’s crazy. Thats also why I don’t like going off samples. Sample could be from an opened up bottle and a fresh bottle can taste so different than the sample.
I was disappointed with this one, it tastes young compared to the 12yo. Lustau sherry is very nutty. I worked in a liquor store back in the mid 80's, I never saw Redbreast.
The term winebore refers to a person who likes to pontificate about wine to the point of boring people you sir are a whisky bore of the highest class, just drink the effin thing and enjoy it for what it is and stop pontificating

Bought a bottle of this today had it tonight I loved it sweet well balanced overall I enjoyed this more than the 12. Next stop will be the 15.

Peter, I’ve said it before, Redbreast is one of the reasons I got into Irish Whiskey. I’ll have to try this bottle for sure. Amazing distillery.

Excellent video! I picked up a bottle of Breast Lustau this week, it's a very well made whiskey, I really liked it.

Tatered up? Not familiar with that term. Are you not a fan of the Kentucky Oak or the PX?

Taste it again after 2/3 months opening up. Gets so much better imo. Didn’t even like it at first
I'm still amazed at how much whiskey changes over time. And how much my palate has changed over time as well.

I was surprised with the nuttiness. I wonder how widely RB was distributed the first time around before it was discontinued.
