I really wasn’t sure how a gimmick character like Shoresy would carry a whole show but DAMN did he carry it. They fleshed him out and gave him layers without losing his charm.
Exactly! I was wondering how they were gonna make me like him as a main character, and not only did they do it, they damn well made me fall in love with him. I am just utterly charmed.
The thing I love about Camille Sullivan's performance in this show, is that she's only character across both Letterkenny and Shoresy that feels like a real person. Totally grounded. Every other character is, intentionally, a bit of a caricature. Its part of the charm, lots of witty wordplay and callbacks. But Laura just feels like a normal person. It makes the scenes between her and Shoresy feel so authentic, like I'm actually watching two people just shoot the shit and flirt. They've had maybe 5 minutes of screen time together total and I'm more invested in their relationship than any fictional romance I've seen in probably a decade.
I unironically was somehow basically Shorsey in highschool hockey. Had this girl I liked at one point, and she would come watch our games with her friends. This is actually close to a conversation we had once. "Hey Kara, how're ya? " "Not too bad, and you? Ready for the game?" "Ya know I'd be so good to ya, like, I'll make you coffee and then pour it over ice and make you even more coffee while that gets cold thats how good to ya I'd be."
She does it in their first meeting too. Also Sanguinet always pauses to allow the "huh" to pass without interrupting him. So much of this show is about people understanding his idiosyncrasies and working with him. She loves him.
Out of six 30-minute episodes, the total time of ALL the Shoresy-and-Laura scenes totals less than 5 minutes. That tells you how perfectly they nail every second of those scenes. It's one of the most purely perfect romantic subplots I have EVER seen.
the fact that Shoresy did no hooking up this season and spent the entire time wooing her makes me sure, 100% sure, that they'll get together and it will end badly

Nat during hockey promo: "Shoresy smile for a minute" he gives her a disgusted look When Laura tells him to smile he does it right away shows how much Shoresy really likes Laura and willing to do anything she ask
Interesting to me that they show Laura spiking her coffee. We know shes at least separated with a child that doesn't live with her, and hasn't been with a man for awhile. All these little details that Keeso writes in will add up to something. If we find out that she has a dog, Shorsey is in trouble. The writing is amazing.

The way I expect him to say something awful but the most endearing thing comes out instead, is genius. Every damn line I'm bracing myself but it ends up being heartwarming. A rollercoaster of a scene lol.
I know it happens sometimes but for me personally its very rare that I’ll like the spinoff of a show better than the original. Letterkenny was already a great show but holy shit do I love Shoresy better than I expected to. Can’t wait for the next season to come out!

well this is from the Shoresy show where Shoresy is fully seen as the main character, as in Letterkeny he's played by Jared Keeso who also plays Wayne, where here he can have something more than a wig to look differently from Wayne....also propably to make it easier to make him the main character

Well her character is way deeper then that. Keeso wrote her character as a functioning alcoholic that has been hiding it from people.
