Been waiting for this video! I ride a Vulcan S, so unlike a lot of cruiser bois the style of the Sportster S isn’t a turn off for me. This bike seems like a logical upgrade from the Vulcan, which has a 650 parallel twin, no ride modes, no cruise control, etc. I just have to come to terms with the fact that it costs double what my Vulcan ran me.
@@rubensahak9178 I’ve only been riding for a year so the Vulcan was a good bike to start on. I’m not bored with it though. I imagine I will want more power eventually, but I smoke my Harley bros and have fun riding it. 🤷🏻♂️
OC: 2011 Dyna street bob rider here, fit and finish from what I can tell seems very good. This would be a fantastic second bike as what us cruiser guys call a "bar hopper".
Ive had 3 Vrod muscles..Currently ride a fatbob...Love the fact that Harley is finally giving there bikes more HP..But I cant justify the price on this one being a sportster...Bring back the Vrod Harley..
Great vid! It was very informative too. I made the leap a year ago from hyper naked Japanese bikes to an American cruiser (bagger even) a year ago and love it. I do miss agility of the smaller bikes at times, but I’ve been able to carve corners in my cruiser too.
Thats the first Harley ive ever seen in my life that i would actually consider beautiful, and consider buying. I say this as an EU guy obsessed with Japanese sportbikes. Finally Harley-Davidson has realized that you dont have to give up on your roots, just because you add ADDITIONAL styles of bikes to your arsenal. If kawasaki can make planes and boats, why cant Harley make sports bikes? They have been SO stubborn the past decades, nice to see them move on from those days.
OC: just got my first bike actually, Triumph Bonneville! Technically a cruiser, with mids and a similar body position. Watching you on the harley reminds me of my bike: "wow, the mids are great! Oh, it's sporty! Oh, that's where the peg was! Oh, my back just died on that bump!" Loved the review, great video and thank you!! Also, California Boi here: we call them canyons because of the steep drop. You're on the side of the mountain, in the canyon.
My entire channel is almost all Harley-Davidson. I’ve risen every Harley-Davidson their is and reviewed them. I honestly can’t wait to ride the Sportster S. I come from a sports bike background as well so I have high hopes for this bike and hope the Harley community accepts this bike. I feel like your video should help bring new riders to the cHarley community and break that mentality that Harley’s are old people bikes. Great vid sir.

OC - Chase, I’m a big fan of the channel and I ride a Harley Davidson Road Glide special. I love all bikes but the big bagger fits me best. It can be challenging in heavy traffic (especially when the temps get north of 90 degrees) but I love to ride so I deal with it. If you are ever in the Austin TX area, I’d be honored to have you ride my motorcycle and give your impressions. Keep up the hard work and ride “safe”.
Never give up the mt10 for a cruiser, just get another bike lol. I love crusiers, im looking for a Victory cus im not the biggest fan of harley but i do like their Lowrider S
OC. Let me start by saying that I would enjoy cuiser content on the channel ;) My love for motorcycles began (as do most people) with the sportbikes, but slowly began loiving the cruisers a whole lot (for the looks mostly). This was when I didn't have a motorcycle. When I was finally able to buy my first bike I considered all options and honestly I was really close of getting a Yamaha Bolt, but the seller stepped back on me so I kept on looking and found the R3 I currently own (actually your videos on the R3 Monster eddition helped me decide). The longer I have my R3 the more I appreciate things like liquid cooling, comfortable suspension, low vibration while riding, etc; things that I know for sure cruisers don't have... I still appreciate the looks of the cuirsers but I'm not sure I would get one for myself anymore... If I had plenty money then yes, I would get a cruiser.
Have been watching since your R6 days; I “think” you were the first motorcycle UA-camr I began watching when my interest in getting a motorcycle became real and … I purchased a 2016 Indian Scout - still have it … may get a sport or naked bike in the future, but have gone deeper into cruising > touring after adding the Indian RoadMaster to my stable: another awesome bike! The Sportster S is a beauty! I’d consider it as a sport-cruiser from what I’ve seen in your video.
OC: Your channel and Blockhead's channel are the reason I finally pulled the trigger on getting my motorcycle license. Can't forget Dan Dan the Fireman either.. But, I will say I'm a cruiser guy. I have the older, bigger version of that bike, a Dyna Fat Bob. First bike, no less. Excited to see your take on other cruisers.
Great Review!. I am a rider that started out on a cruiser (01 XLH1200) I own two Sportsters (93 XL883 & 01 XLH1200), an 03 Fat Boy, 04 Buell XB12R and 22 Indian FTR S. The bike looks amazing; like I said a week ago, this is the only Harley that would bring me back into the Bar and Shield show room as a costumer.
I had a Kawasaki Ninja for 5 years, I have never considered a Hardly-Ableson before. This one is changing my mind quickly. I saw one in Ogden UT and I had to know what was up! Angeles Crest is an experience I'm glad I got when I lived in CA. But UT has roads like this aplenty, with the views, the curves and better asphalt.
So cool to see how excited you were bro. Had a sit on one today at a dealership, feels cool, can't wait to get my full license so I can take one for a test ride

OC I'm a cruiser guy right now on my first bike. But I'm looking to expand my horizons. I was looking forward to this vid. I go up ACH all the time. Great vid, I was also looking forward to seeing you split lanes legally at the end got that too lol.
OC: I'm not a cruiser guy, more of a UJM or standard guy. Love the looks of all bikes, but not the seating position of super sport or cruiser for my style of riding. I really like how you went into the review for someone that is not a cruiser guy. Very neutral and honest review for someone that confesses to not having a desire to own or ride a cruiser anytime in the future. Most reviews tend to be pro Harley or anti Harley based. It was great to see you having a good time and to see the Harley rip up to some nice speed quickly in the beginning 👍.
OC: I just noticed most of the motovloggers I follow are east coast and the only cali motorcycle content makers are the revzilla and motorcyclist magazine guys
As a fellow east cost rider, cali spoiled me last year on my mt10. Was truely a humbling experience but I honestly haven't found too many roads here that evoke that feeling in coastal va, MD, and nc.
OC: I've never rode a cruiser before. Get the feeling Beau is really jealous he couldn't go ride the Harley. But yes Beau and cruiser content be great. Still think I'd choose the Indian FTR over the Harley.
Most of early times I spend riding around Southern Cal. This video brought back memories. I miss being able to filter in traffic.... Angeles Crest: used to go up there frequently. Know the guys who live at the resorts. Had to shut the highway down from time to time when a rider "hits the wall".
OC: the only time I’ve ridden a cruiser was during my MSF course but a few months ago I got into the Indian Scout, never got a chance to ride it yet but now with this Sportster, this is the new thing I’m obsessing about. Love it visually, not sure if I could ever get into the cruiser life with the twisty canyon roads I ride, and these bikes a super expensive so it’s hard to commit that much money to something that you won’t know how it turns out to be until you ride it for a while. Unlike a dual sport, $5-7k and you’ll find a way to enjoy it, low risk, low insurance, high fun, which brings me to my HOT TAKE: in the next 5-10 years we’ll see an explosion in the dual sport market, and prices will sky rise, similar to what we saw in the last decade with trucks and SUVs.
OC: If someone gave me a cruiser I would sell immediately lol but this one actually looks like a keeper. Just needs more comfort. Also you're excitement for the lane filtering was funny. Good job on the video. 👌🏽

I would love to see a variety of bikes on the channel since I love your input on motorcycles. Doesn’t have to be the primary content since I do go to you more so for my sport bike side of things but it would be nice to see some cruiser content from a Sport bike riders perspective that isn’t bashing on the bike cause it’s “slower”. With forward controls you need to be comfortable with counter-steering. I'd say that's the main way to handle, even though leaning with your weight inside the curve is quite helpful, but you need to train a bit and I advise start leaning just before counter-steering.

I’m a Harley guy. I’ve never owned anything else. I only rock mid controls. I have crash bars for when I want to stretch my legs. Also Harley’s seats are always pretty terrible for riding all day. The touring bikes are better for a day out but still benefit a ton from an aftermarket seat. Just like the old Sportsters. Gotta jack up the rear. They aren’t friendly to anyone over 130lbs. I can’t think of another Harley off the top of my head in recent years to use a normal turn signal switch. The ones in both sides work pretty good. Especially the self canceling.

Only reason I sold it is that I could only keep one and 90% of my riding is around town. I will eventually get another one though. For long rides, nothing beats a large cruiser.
I just have to come to terms with the fact that it costs double what my Vulcan ran me.
no offense but your bike is a toy.Why CL full of them less then 10k miles.People get bored with it.
@@rubensahak9178 I’ve only been riding for a year so the Vulcan was a good bike to start on. I’m not bored with it though. Not sure if you’ve ever ridden one, but they’re quick and handle really well. At least for a noob like myself.
Could you explain the terms; "bar hopper", please?
Thx.

Angeles crest is my favorite road to ride on especially if u take the whole route all the way to the 15..
OC: cruiser guy here, but trying to ride more sportbikes. they both have their place in the motorcycle world, and I love them both.
Do have to admit I'm not a sport bike guy but always enjoy seeing your opinions. It's made me start to love some bikes
Great vid sir.
bought mine last week and absolutely love it...so many people comment on the bike! fun
Thanks man, been waiting months to see someone rip this thing, I think I'm into it 🤙
OC: i grew up on the back of my dad's 88 HD Heritage Softail. My first bike was a 97 sportster 1200 custom. I ride mainly sportbikes but still to this day i own that 88 Heritage Softail
Take a shot every time Chase says he has a sport bike background
Im gonna pass, can’t be drunk at 9 AM lol
Your genuine excitment adds spice to your videos 👍🏼
Haha you encouraged me to take my bike to work today. I ride the 2 freeway towards Pasadena:)! Yes, we call them canyons. If you still in town riding around Vasquez rocks is awesome 👍
OC: I was never a cruiser guy, but have become more interested in them ever since the new Indian Chief. That bike is gorgeous.
OC, been thinking of getting a cruiser to compliment the Monster. This would be at the top of the list to try.
About time Harley! Bike's at least 10 years late, hope the new Sportster isn't the last spirited interpretation of a two wheel machine by HD!
Harley had Buell
I love crusers and I need one, as my second bike but I won't give up my MT10! OC
Never give up the mt10 for a cruiser, just get another bike lol. I love crusiers, im looking for a Victory cus im not the biggest fan of harley but i do like their Lowrider S
@@CaffeineFreak13 Find a Victory Octane. You won’t be disappointed.
I just naturally thought the HD name Sportster = sport-cruiser with a bit more oomph!
90% stoked about the roads 10% stoked about the bike.
That's funny.
Harley will never win me over.
OC. Im a Cruiser bro. Im riding in 2019 Harley Street Bob that been decently modded out lol. Love your channel man keep up the good work.
I feel like they took the Bronx (which was a cool design on it's own), said "hey this does not look Harley enough", slapped some Sporster looking tins on it and now voila - the Bronx is now the new Sportster...
Same, I was super bummed when they canned the Bronx but now I totally get why they did it
Not with that shit engine from the PA!! Keep it! Bronx!
@@tonyortiz3692 The Bronx and the Pan American (and the new Sporty) all have the Revolution Max Engine? Bronx = 950 PA = 1250 Sportster - 1250. Ya lost me, chief...
OC: I started on a GS500F but my next bike was a '16 Yamaha Bolt R-Spec and I loved it! I currently own a '14 FZ-09 but I REALLY want a '14 Raider S as well. That's in my top 5 dream bikes along with an MT-10!
OC: I'm not a cruiser guy, since there's a tiger 1200 and a Bonneville in the garage, but I've ridden my buddy's Vulcan and rented a street glide. I feel you on the weirdness of being used to mid controls, but ride a cruiser a couple of days and it becomes second nature. They are a different kind of ride. Video idea: see if you can find a poker run, or a toy run or something like since I feel like that would be a good slice of the cruiser style of riding. Keep the shiny side up!
Looks nice! Idea for video: have Indian give you a Scout demo and along with the Sportster S, run a comparison of the two.
I have only rode sport bikes, but now that I am getting older and kinda just want a chill ride that is still fast ,... I am really looking at these
FYI the turn signal switch is not a push button. After turning it on you got to flick it left or right to turn it off.
OC: Sport cruiser boy here. Never expected this would be where I’d be with bikes, but it’s a nice fit for short people like me
OC: I've never rode a cruiser before. Get the feeling Beau is really jealous he couldn't go ride the Harley. But yes Beau and cruiser content be great. Still think I'd choose the Indian FTR over the Harley.
Harley shmarley, indian is where it's at😎
Most of early times I spend riding around Southern Cal. This video brought back memories. I miss being able to filter in traffic....
Rode supersports pretty much all my life, except recently where I had an adventure bike as a daily commuter (a 390 adventure) and just replaced my supersport for a naked/street fighter style bike. (a Street Triple). NEVER been ona cruiser, though.
OC: I really love most bikes. Maybe time to test a Harley Fat bob 114.
Sounds like this Sportster S is the business. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
So glad Harley brought Chase on this - it is important to see how a sport bike rider feels about this new breed of sportster and he didn't disappoint.
If you want to ride a "traditional" harley. Go find an evolution Sportster and do a feeling comparison with the S!
Who cares what he thinks lol its important ? Get over yourself man

OC: I wanted a naked bike at first. But after I made a driving license course on one my fists and back hurt (my wrong riding technique). So instead I told myself I want something comfy and I started on cruisers. After some years of riding and getting better I switched to ADV bike. Cruisers are cool and great for relaxing rides. I'd love to see more cruises on your channel. Also try something retro like Royal Enfield Bullet :-)
OC... yo lol, I am a cruiser guy, you got me hooked with the Blue Bobber 💙. Yes please more cruiser content! Loved your excitement in this video keep up the great work.
OC: Definately time for more cruiser content and Harley content. I love all bikes but I always end up back on cruisers. Currently riding a 2020 Z900 but in the market for another cruiser and the new Sportster S looks like it will be great. I'm a Sportster fan from way back! I have owned 3 Sportsters and this might be my 4th! Love your videos, keep it up! Not far from you in SC
Enginehawk hat, Ruroc helmet, Harley... perfection 🤘
Those two bumps were freakin hilarious 😂. That’s what my gf feels on my tiny pillion seat on my softail
OC: Not a cruiser guy either but have been looking forward to your take on the Sportster S. Looks like a decent bike.

Also you're excitement for the lane filtering was funny.
Good job on the video. 👌🏽
OC: Honestly, as a super naked rider, this is the first harley I've ever actually wanted to own. We'll done HD! Thanks for sharing Chase- your content is incredible! I'd love to see a comparison of this to the mt-10 in the context of a two bike garage?
OC: although I have a Yamaha R6 I’m a cruiser guy at heart. I always tell people that I’m a cruiser guy on a super sport lol. I believe there is a lot of riders that love all kinds of bikes

So there's some interesting times ahead!!
Hell YeH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!!!!!!!!!
I think everything but the headlight has me quite intrigued. I can finally say i am a fan of a Harley
Welcome to CA Chase. Lane splitting the first time freaked me out too. Fun to hear you do excited about the bike. Need to get on a Panamerica too.
With forward controls you need to be comfortable with counter-steering. I'd say that's the main way to handle, even though leaning with your weight inside the curve is quite helpful, but you need to train a bit and I advise start leaning just before counter-steering.
You haven't seen mountains? Sierras are just a bit north, hwy 2 is popular with local bikers, lots of great weather and incredible roads in California.
Looks like Harley are finally dialing it in, very smart move flying many of the the good/respected/known MotoVloggers out there for advertising. I have a Low Rider S but this bike will appeal to a generation of new riders I feel.

Regarding the but-pain you felt, I'd say it is normal for a whole day riding any motorcycle, although the degree of pain is not something you can put to words.
Cheers
I’m a Harley guy. I’ve never owned anything else. I only rock mid controls. I have crash bars for when I want to stretch my legs. Also Harley’s seats are always pretty terrible for riding all day. The touring bikes are better for a day out but still benefit a ton from an aftermarket seat. Just like the old Sportsters. Gotta jack up the rear. They aren’t friendly to anyone over 130lbs. I can’t think of another Harley off the top of my head in recent years to use a normal turn signal switch. The ones in both sides work pretty good. Especially the self canceling.
OC: I ride a cruiser. Definitely wouldn’t mind more cruiser content, maybe Brian can do some first rides or something like that?
