Editing Opie isn’t as simple as cutting him out without losing a lot of the context, since he opens all the breaks and introduces topics and guests not to mention randomly taking calls and changing subjects. That's why a big part of my work is listening to all the segments beforehand and making sure other members of the show can be used to fill in the blanks, but it’s always a trade off and sometimes I have to use a chip voice or even a hard cut if I don't want to lose the bit. Initially I thought I had a solid line from Ant for the introduction, but in the edit I realized Opie was absentmindedly bleating the whole time in the background and there was no way to separate him in the waveform. I humbly apologize sir. Also i’ll try to come up with something else for the title that’s short and gets the point across but doesn’t set expectations too high.

Imagine how good the show could have been if Opie could have just been humble enough to shut up when the comedy legends are talking. No one gives a fuck what Snowy from Michigan thinks. I hate the callers more than Opie but he is the one who brought them on all the time so I suppose that is his fault too. Maybe 1 in 10 are interesting or entertaining but most are terrible.
