It's not dying! They're only doing so in America. Look to Japan for some incredibly hand-drawn animated feature films. (I recommend movies by Makoto Shinkai, and the masterpieces that come from Studio Ghibli directed by Hayao Miyazaki). The US has turned quite robotic as of late. But if you let US companies know how much you care for hand-drawn animation, and never stop fighting, it will make a triumphant return to the nation. I have a hunch that France may also be playing a big part in the hand-drawn 2D animation industry in the future as well.

I like the details to the animation. Even in just the first few seconds you can see a father comforting his child, an exhausted doctor making a note, and a very downcast nurse bringing in another child. The child, especially, has this look of confusion on his face as the doctor writes down something (a diagnosis maybe). It's brief but it gives a sense that this poor town is firmly in the middle of an epidemic that is breaking everyone's hearts.

After Rosie goes into the exam room and Jenna is looking for her through the windows, I noticed the same thing. Also Rosie is the only human character with the large expressive eyes. Two reasons for this-to indicate that all the characters with those eyes are major parts of the story. The other is so she can convey her emotions. Try to imagine Rosie with eyes the same size as the other people….

Steele refusing help from Balto is so like him he just can’t bare that his reputation will be ruined if he receives help from a wolfdog his stubbornness makes him ignorant and his pride almost cost half his team their lives Steele is both ungrateful and selfish he should be happy that someone else wants to help Balto has a kind heart and despite Steele and his team making fun of him before he knew that they needed help and learned to put their teasing and judgement of him behind him because of what’s in his heart Steele should’ve been happy that Balto wanted to help him and help them all get home and be grateful that at least SOMEONE came to their rescue Balto wasn’t trying to take over he was trying to guide them home because he knew the way he wasn’t even trying to be the lead dog Steele didn’t even care that there were sick children dying back in Nome and didn’t even try and find the way back Balto made it because of his kind heart and half wolf nature and skills Steele never even cared about his team
I can understand Steele not wanting to accept defeat and the fact that a wolfdog wants to help him which he won’t accept due to his stubbornness, pride and selfishness but without Balto they would’ve been doomed so Steele deserved what he got in the end

I compared myself with Balto back then, because I was often treated as an outcast at school, and I had a crush on one of the most beautiful girls there. So I just felt natural for me to compare myself to Balto: someone who wants to do good things for others but is never given the chance and is only treated as an outcast.
It's been 20 years since I saw it. Now that I've been so fortunate to stumble upon it again, my obsession has returned. Fun fact: I still compare myself to Balto. With the exception of my workplace, I still feel like an outcast who has good intentions, but often get ignored before I get the chance to show what I'm capable of.

And the lack of urgency or duty to cooperate and help pediatric medical professionals keep hospitals from being overwhelmed who are begging for mitigations. Great movie. Shame the world of Balto has a far better society than ours.

C'mon, we have to remember that they BOTH are heroes! Togo run most of the hard way, but also, Balto found way home during very tough weather, it wasn't easy, we shouldn't make one bigger in the cost of another, why to choose, if not them, it wouldn't be a success, every part of a mission is important and crucial, even the smallest and it was a team effort.

Cartoon but realistic! 🐺 🐾

The actual (non-Disneyfied) story is a fascinating read if anyone looks into it. It was Nome Alaska in 1925, which wasn't even considered super-remote by Alaskan standards at the time, but in an era before plane travel, was only serviceable by ship, and thus almost completely cut off in winter. The doctor was actually aware that his antitoxin had expired and had ordered more the previous spring, but it hadn't arrived on the last ship of the fall, and just their luck that was when a diptheria outbreak hit.
It's actually unknown exactly how many children died before the dog run finally brought the antitoxin, because the Nome doctor also serviced surrounding Indigenous communities who would sometimes bury their children without reporting illness or death to anyone. But in a small community, the disease spread like wildfire.

The sickness in this video reminds me of my eerie past. I almost died of rsv in 2017 and none of the meds worked.
I was given some liquid medicine to take before bed and it settled in my lungs. I couldn't breathe lying down so I sat up and took a big breath in and couldn't breathe back out I tried again but got stuck further. It was a tight suction feeling. I sat there for a few minutes with my chest stuck forward. Eventually, my peripheral vision went out and then my center vision went white. My hearing started fading too and I was having heart palpitations. I didn't feel anything for a second and then I got my breath back after I passed out for a second.
It would have been easy to just give up and die but I was too scared to do that. It was the scariest thing that ever happened to me and it took me 3, almost 4 months to recover from the illness.

Sad thing is that actually happened, not the whole balto thing. But the fact whole influenza out break in nome Alaska, sad thing is that they didn't have penicillin to treat it.
They couldn't deliver it by plane because tye winter is treacherous and the engines would freeze, train wasn't a option nether cause the train didn't go that far out.
Best thing did was use the train to ship it to its closest city which unfortunately was still a few miles from nome.
So they used a sledding team of dogs to deliver the life saving medicine.

Honestly I struggle to understand how people can watch stuff like Balto or see the scenes of the Sweat from stuff like the Tudors and The Spanish Princess, and then pitch a fit at the medicine companies who are coming up with the medicine needed to stop this from happening again. That's what frickin plagues and pandemics used to look like.
You'd prefer this, too simply having a needle in your arm for less than a second? Because I can bet you're bottom dollar Prince Arthur and Anne Boleyn would have gladly given their right arm to have had a vaccine for the Sweating sickness.
