I've been playing the Woodland combo deck using Fae of Wishes instead of Karn. You basically use Fae of Wishes to tutor for Enter the Infinite in the sideboard, draw your entire deck and cast Thoracle for the win. There are a few advantages over playing Karn in this deck: 1. Fae of Wishes is a creature card. It can be tutored with Traverse. 2. It removes the limit of playing mostly artifact cards in your sideboard since you can now tutor for any noncreature card instead. 3. You can play it as a creature. You can also pay 1U to discard two cards to return it to hand. This is also relevant in times when you need a way to discard Omniscience from your hand. 4. It's a more straightforward and user friendly combo for MTGO. There are in fact also other ways to combo off with Fae of Wishes. (Another way is to tutor Mastermind's Acquisition from the sideboard and use it to tutor for Acererak)
What I love the most about moxfield is its ability to filter out the non Arena cards if I want to import a modern deck into Timeless. Whoever made the decision is a man/woman of the people 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Absolutely love the eternal (and understandable) confusion about the loop. You should make a short to post when it comes up, it's straight forward once it's all laid out but it's opaque just sitting in the SB.
Works well in historic btw if any1 is curious. Limited on fetches but prismatic vista is there and storm can go off with just the 3/4 bouncing itself and then Karn to grab reservoir, you need to have 1 more spell to cast to finish game
You can technically bounce karn instead of statue with essence reliquary when you combo off right? Seems like you get the same result but you save a step, just pick up karn, cast karn for clock instead of casting statue to bounce and recast karn. Saves a few clicks
Hi Spike. Excellent content. Thank you for your hard work. I took to the Karn cycle and appreciate greatly the beauty of it. I went ahead and made a deck all around it using almost all your ideas, again Thank you. How does Karn protect himself in the second and third game as the opponent can try and destroy the loop? Sorry if this is too simple.
@@Phyrexi4n Spike has, when asked to evaluate cards post-ban, re-stated multiple times that the meta has not settled out and it is difficult to see how good or bad things will be, making me suspect that you might be giving a slightly skewed version of his "tirade". He also brewed this deck almost directly post ban and talks in the video about why fable is in it.
Surely it's not worth 2 otherwise completely useless sideboard slots just to cover the case where you have literally no spells in hand when comboing, right?

I swear I have trauma lol; everytime an opp taps 4 mana I think oh god there's ring and then remember, its banned
Good thing they unbanned another 4CMC spell that wins the game
@@jtyree0226that isn’t indestructible and requires 1 of a few specifics and obvious permanents in play 🤡

@@jtyree0226comparing twin to ring😂😂must be new here lost twin decks can and usually win without combo they just control/tempo u out
Now the healing can begin

Hell yeah brother!

2 Surgical Metamorph (alchemy) and a Pestilent Cauldron can also go infinite with Reservoir.

You need to bounce statue because it comes in untapped when you replay it and that's important for clock untapping reliquary.

Can you try elves with gsz? Been debating on sleeving it back up
I love to see the actual combo now. No one let it resolve until now lol

How do you make this deck work in Timeless? Clock of Omens isn’t legal.
Can someone tell me why you don't just make infinite storm, bounce Karn, and then cast reservoir and bonk them?
Nevermind you need life lol
Since looting unban I brewed up a pyromancer ascension list and am currently 13-2 with it. You could prob brew a more clean list than I could 🤙
Let’s go
Spike is consistently shitting on fable of the mirror breaker in modern saying it’s not on power level and yet he’s playing it.
Could maybe Scrapwork Mutt be played it's place? It's a faster draw and an artifact for delirium puposes.
@@moritztullney2124I would probably play bitter reunion instead.
they just banned the ring and also spike has said on multiple occasions that he likes fable better in combo decks than as a generic midrange card.
@@lukehennebury5929 he literally talked about it this week after the ban and went on a tirade about how bad the card is in modern lol
