    Appreciate the review!
    There’s a local shop that has a bottle for $250USD, crazy money. Just had to make sure I wasnt missing out on a can’t-miss, even for secondary market prices

      You're welcome my friend. I've seen some crazy prices for Committee Releases too. IMHO the only recent one that I thought was much special was Fermutation. Purely for it being such an oddball. Personally I wouldn't be paying $250 for any of them though. I think it's a bit of wishful thinking on behalf of those shops. Holding out for a rich collector with FOMO 🙄 Cheers 🥃

    I picked up two today. Can’t wait to crack one open and give it a try this weekend! Thanks for the review!

      I also got one … on the one hand, cool, that the price doubled in 2 hours. On the other - opening the bottle is even harder.

      Do it... you know you want to :-)
      I have a few bottles in my collection that I've considered selling at times because they're now 'worth' 5 or 6 times what I paid for them. Mainly Japanese and Feis Ile bottlings. I've decided never to do that though.
      Aside from the risk that you could send it to auction and see it sell for less than you paid and then be left with the fees... bottle flipping isn't good for anyone. Not the community, the industry, collectors or the people paying silly prices.
      The value of anything at auction is only ever what someone wants to pay for it. I prefer to open the bottle and get real value by enjoying the experience. Cheers!

    great detailed review! big question is ... would you buy a 2nd bottle if you could get it for the same price?

    • @WhiskyLock
      @WhiskyLock  3 роки тому

      Thanks J Dub. Great question... I dont think I would BUT I would be tempted :-) the problem is that for £100 you're not getting something better than the phenomenal 10yo. You're getting some fun, interesting and DIFFERENT.
      That and as a reviewer, my list of whisky that I want or want to review is so long that I try not to buy multiples of anything any more :-)

      Thanks! It's becoming my personal mission to acquire and open as many 'collectable' bottles as I can ;) we must liberate the delicious whisky from their dusty prisons!

    The video is very informative. I suggest that you could make videos also about the standard whiskies like Highland Park 12, lasanta, etc. There are several such videos on UA-cam, but yours seem to be more informative and useful. In this way the number of subscribers will increase rapidly

      Thank you so much for the kind words Charis. I have actually reviewed Highland Park 12 already ua-cam.com/video/jN6psMYe60s/v-deo.html I do like to have a mix of special whisky and more every day drams in my reviews because in my opinion; more affordable whisky can also be great! Although if I'm honest, HP12 is not my favourite whisky from Highland Park.
      As for Lasanta... I actually bought a bottle this afternoon! A very enjoyable dram and a very strange coincidence indeed! Cheers!

    Definitely agree with the finish description, not a let down, but could be longer. Interesting comparison with the Blasda, and agreed. I was getting very much an organic note; like Hazelburn note from it. Slainte mhath, and looking forward to more of your reviews.

      The worst thing about any Ardbeg is always when it's over ;) I thought this was a really interesting expression and probably even above average for a Committee Release. I'd love to see how this stuff turns out after 15-20yrs. What do you think? Thanks for watching!

    Interesting and thanks for the review as there aren't many reviews for this whisky around. I did manage to get a bottle of it but haven't tried it yet. I was out of the UK at the time so it is waiting with a family member for me to pick up

    • @WhiskyLock
      @WhiskyLock  3 роки тому

      I'd guess there aren't that many reviews because a LOT of people weren't able to get it... which is why I tend not to review things like this because it probably adds to the hype and hysteria! Sadly it is very good whisky though ;) you're going to love it when you get back home.

      @@WhiskyLock I also wonder if it is because a lot of people who did get it didn't open it. I asked a barman at one of the ardbeg embassies in Edinburgh and he said he loved it, but they only received one bottle and had sold it all

    • @WhiskyLock
      @WhiskyLock  3 роки тому

      @@blindtomuk you're absolutely right. A lot of bottles will never be opened. Or may be opened by someone with a lot of money when they buy it at auction in a few years.
      Just curious, how much does an Ardbeg embassy charge for a dram of a committee release? I don't have an embassy near me.

      Ha! Breaking that seal is an expensive act :-) I'd never buy a bottle like this just to sell it on for a quick profit though. Much better to get your money's worth by enjoying it!
