Been putting LEDs in my Hot Wheels customs for 3yrs now. It may seem challenging at first, but it does get simpler. You can buy LEDs already wired small enough for 1/64 in many different colors! This does look sic!
@@visualdosage234 Amazon sells LEDs that are smaller than the head of a matchstick and you can buy them that already come with battery kit. They have blinking ones and ones that slowly change colors. You can also get them that have a remote to control them. They’re already pre wired and everything and can be fitted nicely. Plus they only cost a few bucks and can be delivered the next day. They’re the only ones that I use. I even use them in my diaromas.
@@visualdosage234 I take and use my Dremel to make a whole thru the middle of the base of the car small enough for the LED to fit in. I’ll glue the back of it into the inside of the base, that way only the light is exposed underneath the casting. The lights are bright enough that when the car is on a flat surface, it looks just like the light of a full-size vehicle with under glow lights installed into it. The interior will keep the light from shining through the rest of the car.
I'm not a hardcore Hot Wheels fan but I enjoy watching these kinds of mini diecast Pimp My Ride videos. There once was a UA-camr I used to watch till he quit a little over a year ago and I miss watching the videos he used to put out.
I tried to do the same with a BMW 3 Series recently, it took a whole week but it finally worked 😅. You made it look more simple that it really is, but the result is amazing, I love your creation ❤
Perfect timing, thanks! Been stifled on a 1/24 scale vehicle lighting project using 9 leds, requiring three 9 v batteries. Simply using all white and coloring them should get me back on track 😅
Glad to help with this small illegal trick! ;D But why 3x 9V batteries??? That sound way too much power and voltage for LEDs. Did you wire them all parallel?
@@themodelcarproject well, my problem is varying V rated LEDS I think. Actually a total of 7 3mm (2 wh, 1 bl, 2 red, and 2 flickering orange) bit the orange are 5-12v fwd v bulbs. I don’t understand how to get max brightness without using adequate power (comes out to 15.7v and 10-24v)? Resistors will only limit the power applied to each lowering the brightness correct? I plan to mount the car on a wooden box, so hiding 3 9v batts won’t be too big an issue. Any thoughts?
Thank you! This is right, doing 10 led in 1 car for the first time wouldn't be a good start. Thats why I made this "beginner advice" (see in video description). Its a far more simple setup anyone can jump right into making that kit.
Here's an idea: make the same but use a copper spool to make it light up via induction. That sure would be a great effect when you have somebody over, place a car on a specific surface and it lights up. :) Plus, you won't ever have to open it again to change batteries.

Yes, because if you don't the metal will oxidize. Definitely use a lacquer based paint, it doesnt contain water. Be aware of using acrylic paints in this case, because the water inside the solvent will oxidize with the metal and then the paint will chip off (if you do not apply any primer, like in this case)
Absolutely correct. So, what you do, is have a bit of clean wire, then dab come super glue over it onto the zamac and to cure it, sprinkle carbon/graphite powder into the superglue.@@themodelcarproject
@@heinrichrothmann6728 I see. What could happen though is that you end up with a bad connection, maybe even adding quite a bit of resistance here in there, resulting in different brightness between the LEDs.
