- Dominaria Prerelease is just around the corner and Wizards of the Coast have kindly sent me a prerelease kit to open up on the channel for you all! In this video there will be a prerelease guide for the day and deck building tips for you all. Plus I'll build a deck from the Dominaria sealed pool I open up and there will be a deck tech for it at the end!
Hopefully these deck building tips will help you to a better prerelease overall!

eli c Great time to start. I stopped playing a while ago due to the dullness of the blocks, this one looks amazing though.
I like how they updated the tips insert! Looks like it actually has mana-curve suggestions now.
Kinda wish that the 2nd stamped foil single was individually wrapped so you have the option to sell or store them individually and unopened.
I understand why they didn't but I certainly agree that it would have been nicer to do that. Granted wizards probably aren't worried about the secondary market much, but rather having some great cards to play with! The new insert is so much better like you said, I've compared it from the one in the rivals box I have still and the difference is night and day. Anything they can do to make it easier for new players to sealed is a huge plus!

I pulled a plain gilded lotus then look over and see my son has pulled a foil promo Karn......super happy 11 year old once i explained it's value and playability.

Personally i think the *41 card special* is a real option, and the dilution part in said case is hardly noticeable, the decks in limited will already have a high variance and that one extra thing won't make it that much worse. 16 creatures, 8 non-creatures, 17 lands ... As far as the video goes, seeing it's nice for people watching to be able to grasp your pool and get an idea of what you might be building, it be nice if you wouldn't skip the commons so fast, and seeing these will be the majority of your deck it may also give new(er) players the wrong idea. You obviously don't have to read them all, but go through them and say 'twenty one' in your mind at every common, to then go to the next. This is enough time to see them and identify by the picture which card it is. Other than that, pretty sick pool, hope to be as lucky as you, esp. that Gilded lotus, wouldn't mind getting one as my promo !!

Best artwork style in a long time. It's all beautiful, especially the saga cards. It actually looks like art instead of a screen-shot from a video game like it has for the last 5-10 years

the card I'm most excited for is On Serra's Wings. it gives SO many keywords i just love it.

Wow your pool was way better than what I opened. My promos were Gilde Lotus (Great!)And Jodah (unplayable in Limited). I also got Yargle, Tolarian Scolar and a list of other dirt. 1st game I plaued with 4 colors but no Swamp (oops). Thanks to the Lotus I won while only having 1 life spared. Lost that round after adding 2 swamps. Next round I swotched to black white and never did any better. You should be proud with what you opened.

Life Begins At 20 It was fun but twice I had to sit out waiting for the match to end. Can't help but feel as, if I had won at least 1 round I might not have had to wait.

I'm half hoping to open a promo Yargle half hoping to open something actually useful. I like to keep these promos as just ways to remember the pre-release and Yargle seems just great for that.

I also really like the artwork on the Sagas. I am not even sure I would want to play most of them in a deck, but I really want to collect them all.

Life Begins At 20 MOX AMBER
I didn't get a Squee promo, had to buy one on ebay for that, but did get Clifftop Retreat promo and 2 Hinterland Harbor. Also a foil Helm of the Host, a Damping Sphere and a few others among 2 sealed pools. The card that did the most work for me in the games had to be Rite of Belzenlok.
Shame you had to buy it, but glad you have one! To be fair, lands are always useful! That is a very solid card and I've underrated the sagas when I initially viewed them. Happy with the set overall in limited?
The limited format seems fun.

I love the new Gilded Lotus art. Hoping to get some of the check lands as well. I'm not familiar with all of the cards, but this looks like it will be a slower sealed format. Nice deck, & that dragon looks almost unbeatable!
It certainly looks stunning, hope that foil came across well in the video! The check lands are nice and to be honest, there are some very interesting cards to brew from in this set. I do wonder what it'll do to standard as I do see a lot of EDH and brawl cards. Oh that dragon could well be a beast!

You got some decent cards, watching this made me think of an infinite combo in standard,
Squee the Immortal, Gilded Lotus, Skirk Prospector and Paradox Engine.

Add Jaya's Immolating Inferno to this and you can cast it for "Factorial"

i really have no idea , i regularly commute between two cities with a lgs in each. One of them is hosting brawl tournaments and the other isn't. But i'll definetly give it a go since there is at least some play :)

Thanks for posting, good advice, just so you know there was no original dominera set, the first 10 plus sets of magic all took place in denominera it’s the original setting that magic had before it started making new sets based on a new world
Apologies, that's what I kind of meant, but having started in origins I never focussed much on the lore of the game. I'm glad there are a lot of people excited about returning to the plane though!

I learned that the A in bread is aggro, or the little creatures that put the pressure on your opponent in the early game
Fair enough - I always tend to look out for abilities as you won't always want aggro creatures - but that'll still work well in limited.
Im super stoked for the guilded lotus, and the sangir pureblood tbh. Both for my vampire edh. Hes not the best vampire, but ill finally have an at least playable sangir vampire.

The original sengir is more playable. there is also sengir nosferatu. Vein Drinker and Vampiric Dragon are very similar. So it isnt like this guy is really filling that hole, unless you very specifically needed a black red sengir vampire.
Thomas Shackett most of those cards require damage to a creature, and then that creature to die.
The new sengir just wants damage. So cards like olivia that ping gives him a +1/+1 and any blockers will grow him.
I got 20th place out of 49. So not to bad. I didn't get what I wanted but traded for some I did. I traded for slime foot. To add to my Meren deck.

It is one of the cards I would most want to pull at prerelease. Great in cube, commander, and the tournament I open it in. Wow, I just realised that Gilded Lotus in now Brawl legal *shudders*
I think it's going to be a staple in brawl for pretty much every deck! Definitely great cube card too - might have to rebuild an unpowered one now

what do u think is the most important thing a magic channel should have ?
That's quite a tough question as there are many right answers to this. But for me having a clear goal of what you want to bring to an audience is the most important. Whether this be teaching the game, entertaining people, brewing decks, lore or so on. This way people know what they're coming to you for and you are able to create better content on that.
Higher production value, personality and so on are all things that are important but knowing why you're making content is key.

I am hoping for a karn but might have to happing when I get my boxes lol but there are so many cards that look amazing and will probably play amazing and the new oath that let's your activate your planeswalker twice a turn will be fun for my super friends deck with the chain veil.

Life Begins At 20 Thinking green is strongest color for prerelease, but as we know after opening the first pack you will know what direction you should go. The ramp into green is strong. Counter craziness!
green base for the ramp and being able to splash for bombs does sounds like a pretty good plan right there!
Why don't you ever go through the commons? That's what counts the most in a prerelease. You don't need to read them (or any of them really) we can pause the video.

The only thing about your deck that worries me is THREE 7 drops. That feels like a lot, even with your ramp package. That said Jund was absolutely STACKED in this pool, lol.
To be fair, there are a lot of other options in the sideboard if that does in fact end up being too heavily stacked at the top end. I do think though that with the ramp package it's certainly possible to play these out well and prerelease tends to be slightly slower games too. Certainly options there to mix it up, but like you said that colour combo is stacked!

What common legendary card are you talking about? I'm confused, I don't think there is one...? Yargle for example is vanilla, but uncommon.

I think if you got that, everyone at the prerelease would scoop up and go, they aren't beating that!
To be honest, there were far too many interesting cards to put in - and the joy of a prerelease is I could adapt it later on if I felt I needed it - alongside the other graveyard recursion.
I totally agree with knight tribal - looks a lot of fun!
While the Legendary Promo can be Mythic or Rare it will not fall below Uncommon.

Which ones are you after for your cube? I may well look into brawl, it could well be a format that while I'm sitting on the fence about, it may well be fun rather than a money grab I envisage.

Lol!
The only brought back one of the Legendary Dragons from Invasion?? I wanted Treva!

He was the best, lore and flavor wise.
I disagree with the dirt examples. Maybe the 4/4 for 4 isn't great but the other 2 are pretty decent, they really depend on the deck.

Did you identify Orcish Vandal, a repeatable shock effect that can end games, as "Dirt"? The other 2 are very playable as well.
For me a 1/1 That takes a turn to be able to activate it and having to build a deck around it with plenty of artefacts you don't mind sacrificing for 2 damage for me isn't worth it. It's killed by pretty much all removal in the game and the effect is telegraphed too. That beings said, it's not awful, but the overall power level of the set is pretty high so I needed to draw the line somewhere.

Don't rationalize. This set, like ixa, has terrible instant speed kill, this is limited playable, easily, if you have artifacts.
Ps - you say the power level of the set is high; not true. This is IXA w/ legends/artifact tribal. The set design overlap is, frankly, unacceptable, and we all know how IXA played.
Is there gilded lotus a guaranteed promo for everyone or are both of those random for everyone?
The promos are random - so if you attend this weekend you'll get a randomized rare/mythic promo and a promo legendary too which could be uncommon/rare or mythic!
I have a silumgar foil and dated from the only prerelease I ever went to its precious to me but probably not worth much huh
While it may not have the highest monetary value (it'll still be decent) - silumgar is a great card! Loved his shenanigans in cube!
