- I discovered that you can fly your Mavic Mini without it being connected to a smart phone or tablet. Maybe it’s common knowledge, but just in case it’s not, check out how it’s done.

It's supposed to start by holding both sticks down and in for a bit. It will return to home if you take off and hover for a few seconds before you fly it off, for it to pick up satellites and set the RTH spot. There is a RTH button above the left stick. If you hold that down a bit it will return to home or just land in place if it's closer that 20M. You can test that while its at say 30M away.
Bro you saved my life , I just bought the Dji mini se and I was trying so bad to fly without a phone , I kept looking for hours online and couldn’t find anything that could help me until I found this video and within seconds I was flying . I’m glad you found this out and uploaded . Thank you!

@@NeonVacation without using a phone you can record or take pictures if a compatible SD card is inserted . While using a phone you can record with or without an SD card .

That's brilliant I am not a smartphone fan or user and always wanted to know if drones can be flown without one.
The drone is designed to fly without the phone or even the controller in case of a signal loss or phone disconnection/crash.

I fly in my living room all the time. It keeps the cats busy LOL. With proper throttle control it is easy and somewhat safe. My wife isn't fond of it but in winter weather I can get my fix. And it helps hone my maneuvering skills which will make me that much better when I can return to outdoor flights. This is a great example video of how to do it. Just use sensible throttle control for elevation and descending indoors.
Does this work on the Mini SE?
You just need to push the right stick to the bottom left corner and the left stick to the bottom right corner in one action. You do not need the outwards and inwards as in your video. Dji has had this method to start the props since the DJI NAZA flight controller so I guess they are trying to keep things the same

Very useful tip if you are flying in FPV mode
even after 4 years, you can still fly it like you said without phones. For me it worked only after satellite locks.
You could have said that altitude hold doesn’t work without the app. Mine went straight into the ceiling then crashed. Luckily no damage with prop guards on. Be careful if you try this indoors.
I chopped up the mini blinds, wife was pissed.
@@ryanjerry8049 did you use one touch takeoff? I had no issues. I controlled how high the drone rose or fell. It's just throttle control. If you do what the video shows it will elevate fast and full until it hits your ceiling. With careful control you can fly safely anywhere.

Altitude hold does not need the phone. But before you press that one step button for take off check what height she is set to go to. Our living room lights learnt about that one. Lol

I enjoyed flying my spark without my phone around, but was sad to learn I couldn’t fly my mavic mini without my phone. Thank you for posting this; oh, and by the way, you know when you have enough satellites to fly when the indicator turns green on the bird. Great post. No where in the manual does it tell you how to do this thing you’ve stumbled upon

I think most people know this by now but yes, you can fly it without the phone. Start it up like you did and go fly. I do believe the return to home also works without the phone which is a good thing being you don't have a display.
Yes but the follow me mode will not work without a phone.

@@ergrejt2676 may be not as my mate has one it also does not have an headless mode. I think it is because it is a drone for the more experienced pilots
Yes the return to home and return to home at low power still works without the phone.

If you do want to use a phone or tablet with the DJI Mavic Mini, the device MUST have a 64 bit processor. I had an old Motorola phone and it wouldn't even load the DJI Fly app because it had a 32 bit processor. The same with tablets, don't buy one without a 64 bit processor.

Wow... I just Purchased mine earlier today at a Best Buy store. They made an order for me to pick up another day. Can't wait to try this out. My Android is not compatible with it. Although it sucks to fly without the Features inside the App,,, At least i can test fly it.

You don’t have to push the sticks out first and you can do it by just pulling the sticks both down and In.
One thing to note, if anyone is thinking they won't need a phone EVER or don't have a compatible device at the moment. You NEED a compatible phone or tablet, connected, in order to activate the drone. This is a one of thing and unless you do it, you will not be flying your drone EVER. Just wanted to point this out to those who have bought an MM and have no compatible phone or table just yet, who are thinking this is great I can finally try it out... Not until you have activated it you can't.

BISHAL'S CREATION yea the first time it’s turned on it needs the phone to confirm all of the terms and conditions, update the maps for the restricted zones and check for any firmware updates. If you don’t have a compatible phone you can’t get past stage 1

All the phone is for is to record video or for follow me mode. But to free fly by eye no phone is needed. And definitely no internet connection is needed

i am interested in a mini. I live in the boonies with very bad cell service. Can i fly this with my phone without cell service for recording purposes. You say the drone has no memory card? DO the videos save to your phone?
You don't have to have service to fly the drone. The drone transmits its own Wi-Fi signal. Also, the drone has a slot for a micro sd card.

Note that the Mavic Mini will not work on any phone except a modern hi-end expensive phone. You cannot fly the Mavic mini with a normal cellphone, the dji fly app won't load. You will have to go out and spend a load more money on a new phone.

After asking around. Ppl are saying this only works if you connect it to the app first. ...
The app shows I need the update but when it goes to the app store it dont say update it just says open like there isnt an update for it

Is it possible to get an unlocked smartphone or tablet to use as a screen for the drone?
I would prefer to not have to depend on a phone company in order to fly a dji drone.
Bad move if your a beginner. I'll explain why, your flying a blind quad. It has no idea where it is. Yes it will still receive GPS, but the app on the phone tells the drone what to do with that info. What you have is a confused drone trying to do something but has no clue. It tries to calculate a hover, max height, max distance but the value is zero because it's not getting the needed info from the app. Only control signals. It could just go by by if you don't react fast enough. A quad needs that technology to fly right, it's not an airplane, it's not a helicopter. I have been flying them for about 30 years. You can fly it that way, just as I did for decades with Helicopters, but you better know what your doing, or it's by by drone

I have a Samsung Galaxy A20, 64Bit, Usb debugging Enabled, Android 10, Dji Latest App. And I just bought a Mavic Mini and I haven't been able to connect it's Remote Via Type C cable to My phone. Sometimes my phone recognises it as Charging?
I tested out it with my friend's Apple Iphone, Works fine, Connects. But my android Doesn't.
Should I buy an Expensive Apple Iphone?

Can't you put in a memory card and record?
Yes. Use the right button to take a photo and left button to take a video. Push the button once to select that mode, a second time to use it. (Hit the video button twice to start recording). Works without phone attached.
