When the existence of the bomb comes to light it is revealed as something that is supposed to protect what’s in the apartment- in the prologue, the MC is told that important information that they shouldn’t touch is within it (if I remember correctly, exactly how much emphasis V places on this depends on the MC’s responses)- against intruders. In the prologue, it’s pointed out that nobody should have been able to get in. This is for two reasons: the password lock and the fact next to nobody knows where the place is. “Unknown” takes care of both problems. The fact that the MC had the password is pretty much why she isn’t blown to smithereens. Having the password means she’s recognized as someone who should be there. The reason why the bomb actually becomes a problem later on, depending on your route, is because it is hacked into, leaving the MC in a dangerous situation where the bomb is far more sensitive in who it recognizes as an enemy.

I think that I didn’t like the idea that basically ditches Elizabeth for you towards the end or some of the plot points i felt where brought up but where not resolved.

Was anyone's experience with Jumin's route actually like this? Especially after doing Zen's route? Why would anyone want to go back to a crappy little apartment full of stuff you're not supposed to touch, where no one can find you to help you if anything happens, with a BOMB IN IT where the deadly hacker can drop in and kidnap you literally at any moment even WHEN 707 is paying close attention to you? And you want to go back while he's having a total nervous breakdown and/or literally not even in the building watching the feeds?? It's the worst part of the route, because WHY does the MC want to go home? The penthouse and entire building is a million times better than the apartment, PRESUMABLY the MC actually has a REAL home (she existed before the game, right??) so the apartment isn't even her house, and why?? is?? the party??? so important?! You can literally just have the party again a week later when everyone in the RFA isn't busy having a breakdown. They've survived two years, they can wait another week. (Remember in the Deep Story, V doesn't even give you a full week, he drags his feet more than casual route - but you're expected to do something Rika had practice with in less than a work week?!) I don't understand this route at all. I know they WANTED to do an overprotective vibe with Jumin that's supposed to be worrying, but if you stop and think about the situation logically for even a moment or two, the arguments that you should leave fall apart. Basically the only thing I can think of for why MC should is "it's improper" and...who...cares...? Jumin and Jaehee prove in the route that it's not even necessary for the MC to go home. Even in the good end, they do most of the heavy lifting getting all the guests to the party.
I wholeheartedly agree. I was so confused as to what the problem was. MC doesn't *have* to go back to the apartment to prepare for the party. They literally said in the prologue that all MC has to do was check her phone and answer emails. They treated Rika's apartment like it was MC's actual home and that she needed to go back asap but....... it's not..?? Ugh, and the bomb. It's like the game expected us to just forget that we found out about the bomb (since I'm sure not that many people started out playing the deep route first). It didn't feel real at all and the stupidity of the whole thing took away from the experience... Ah well, I still love Jumin
It's like the game just expected the player to be outraged and thought that his one kabedon moment + an optional BE (that requires the player to be super aggressively creepy to even get) would be enough to ensure that visceral reaction from the player. Basically, they needed a dramatic crisis situation like they have in all the other routes, but Jumin is a character with a certain personality and status that most of the situations you could get into just wouldn't make sense or would be immediately resolved. Probably the best issue would be if instead of Sarah and Glam being an issue, his father or others didn't approve of Jumin dating MC. The problem with that plot is that it would require much more NVL modes and extra sprites to be done, and couldn't be well conveyed over IMs and phonecalls. (Probably the same reason they're so reluctant to implement full routes for V and Unknown, who don't really interact over IM)
Thedarkbunnyrabbit Yeah, they were trying to manufacture this sense of danger but the way they went about it just made it seem fake. And yeah, that's a good idea, but I think if they did that it would just end up too much like Zen's route. Remember how Jaehee disapproved for the longest time? But maybe if the company was involved, like if Glam spread rumors about MC to Jumin's dad and then he gave Jumin an ultimatum or something (idk lol). But the Glam and Sarah thing wasn't too bad, I just hated all the bullshit surrounding the apartment thing.
The main problem is that if there WERE a real sense of danger, it couldn't have been convincingly resolved in a matter of about three days. Jumin had to never cross any lines that would make it impossible to believe that the MC would turn around and marry him the week or two after. It is odd, because they set up a situation where they could have used Glam and Sarah against the MC. But it could be that Jaehee and Echo Girl would have been too similar then. But the apartment thing was a really poor alternative. Plus, it's deep story, so we should have gotten a better look at the world, but lol. Jumin's personality entirely blocked that by just keeping the MC safe away from all the other pitfalls that happen in other routes. Which must have been an issue in making a problem (since they had to keep it in the format of 10 days and primarily IM based). He's practically the Jin route, where pursuing him just solves all the problems in the story without any effort.
You're not wrong that she didn't HAVE to go home. When everyone in the RFA was pointing that out I was like, wth? She can just check her phone. BUT the reason I disliked his route the most is his possesiveness. I felt like I was literally trapped and I could not understand him at all. I mean his past wasn't even THAT bad. I must admit, Jumin's route is the one I disliked the most. I felt trapped in that route, and I was quite overprotected as a child,so that gave me awful flashbacks to when I was little and my parents didn't let me go outside or to a friend's house... I hate feeling like I can't do anything and that I must be indoors all the time... plus, I dislike to feel like a possession. So yeah... that route was a nightmare to me.
To me, it was a dream come true, I loved the fact that Jumin's was so possessive and I preferred the bad ending in which Jumin chains you up and put's tracking devices on you over the good ending where he let's you go.

But his route really made me miss Zen because he was extra cute and protective in that one as well.

When Jumin got possessive it really scared me and totally turned me against his character. One of my biggest fears is of being kidnapped so I had to stop playing right away and then I had nightmares about it for days. I wish there had been an option to call the police or to call 707 and have him break in there and save me. I was so scarred by Jumin's route that I haven't even played the game since then.
That show exactly my feelings during Jumin's route! First I really liked him, but later situation became quiet sick when M.C. couldn't went home and Jumin became so sticky possesive. And unexpectly running away from this trap situation went toward Bad End! He is quiet popular as character, so I havent' expected his route would be so pain. Personaly I liked him during previous rouetes I had played (Zen, Yosuung and Jaehee), but half of his route he were pretty scary. Seriously! I liked him more ever during Jaehee's route

Its exaggerated somewhat. MC is in danger and Jumin won't let her go back to the (extremely unsafe) apartment until he's sure she's safe. His perspective is a bit skewed because he's unstable due to being betrayed by his father and losing Elizabeth the 3rd, but it's literally like two or three whole days where he won't let her go back. And, despite the way the RFA acts about it, she's in very real danger.

Was anyone's experience with Jumin's route actually like this? Especially after doing Zen's route? Why would anyone want to go back to a crappy little apartment full of stuff you're not supposed to touch, where no one can find you to help you if anything happens, with a BOMB IN IT where the deadly hacker can drop in and kidnap you literally at any moment even WHEN 707 is paying close attention to you? And you want to go back while he's having a total nervous breakdown and/or literally not even in the building watching the feeds??
It's the worst part of the route, because WHY does the MC want to go home? The penthouse and entire building is a million times better than the apartment, PRESUMABLY the MC actually has a REAL home (she existed before the game, right??) so the apartment isn't even her house, and why?? is?? the party??? so important?! You can literally just have the party again a week later when everyone in the RFA isn't busy having a breakdown. They've survived two years, they can wait another week. (Remember in the Deep Story, V doesn't even give you a full week, he drags his feet more than casual route - but you're expected to do something Rika had practice with in less than a work week?!)
I don't understand this route at all. I know they WANTED to do an overprotective vibe with Jumin that's supposed to be worrying, but if you stop and think about the situation logically for even a moment or two, the arguments that you should leave fall apart. Basically the only thing I can think of for why MC should is "it's improper" and...who...cares...? Jumin and Jaehee prove in the route that it's not even necessary for the MC to go home. Even in the good end, they do most of the heavy lifting getting all the guests to the party.
I wholeheartedly agree. I was so confused as to what the problem was. MC doesn't *have* to go back to the apartment to prepare for the party. They literally said in the prologue that all MC has to do was check her phone and answer emails. They treated Rika's apartment like it was MC's actual home and that she needed to go back asap but....... it's not..?? Ugh, and the bomb. It's like the game expected us to just forget that we found out about the bomb (since I'm sure not that many people started out playing the deep route first). It didn't feel real at all and the stupidity of the whole thing took away from the experience... Ah well, I still love Jumin
It's like the game just expected the player to be outraged and thought that his one kabedon moment + an optional BE (that requires the player to be super aggressively creepy to even get) would be enough to ensure that visceral reaction from the player. Basically, they needed a dramatic crisis situation like they have in all the other routes, but Jumin is a character with a certain personality and status that most of the situations you could get into just wouldn't make sense or would be immediately resolved. Probably the best issue would be if instead of Sarah and Glam being an issue, his father or others didn't approve of Jumin dating MC. The problem with that plot is that it would require much more NVL modes and extra sprites to be done, and couldn't be well conveyed over IMs and phonecalls. (Probably the same reason they're so reluctant to implement full routes for V and Unknown, who don't really interact over IM)
Thedarkbunnyrabbit Yeah, they were trying to manufacture this sense of danger but the way they went about it just made it seem fake. And yeah, that's a good idea, but I think if they did that it would just end up too much like Zen's route. Remember how Jaehee disapproved for the longest time? But maybe if the company was involved, like if Glam spread rumors about MC to Jumin's dad and then he gave Jumin an ultimatum or something (idk lol). But the Glam and Sarah thing wasn't too bad, I just hated all the bullshit surrounding the apartment thing.
The main problem is that if there WERE a real sense of danger, it couldn't have been convincingly resolved in a matter of about three days. Jumin had to never cross any lines that would make it impossible to believe that the MC would turn around and marry him the week or two after. It is odd, because they set up a situation where they could have used Glam and Sarah against the MC. But it could be that Jaehee and Echo Girl would have been too similar then. But the apartment thing was a really poor alternative.
Plus, it's deep story, so we should have gotten a better look at the world, but lol. Jumin's personality entirely blocked that by just keeping the MC safe away from all the other pitfalls that happen in other routes. Which must have been an issue in making a problem (since they had to keep it in the format of 10 days and primarily IM based). He's practically the Jin route, where pursuing him just solves all the problems in the story without any effort.
You're not wrong that she didn't HAVE to go home. When everyone in the RFA was pointing that out I was like, wth? She can just check her phone.
BUT the reason I disliked his route the most is his possesiveness. I felt like I was literally trapped and I could not understand him at all. I mean his past wasn't even THAT bad. I don't like being under control and I want to be the one who makes decisions and everything so I did not take it very well, the way he acted. I mean I was LOCKED inside and he was dropping hints about putting me in a cage!

I must admit, Jumin's route is the one I disliked the most.
I felt trapped in that route, and I was quite overprotected as a child,so that gave me awful flashbacks to when I was little and my parents didn't let me go outside or to a friend's house... I hate feeling like I can't do anything and that I must be indoors all the time... plus, I dislike to feel like a possession.
So yeah... that route was a nightmare to me.
To me, it was a dream come true, I loved the fact that Jumin's was so possessive and I preferred the bad ending in which Jumin chains you up and put's tracking devices on you over the good ending where he let's you go.

But his route really made me miss Zen because he was extra cute and protective in that one as well.

When Jumin got possessive it really scared me and totally turned me against his character. One of my biggest fears is of being kidnapped so I had to stop playing right away and then I had nightmares about it for days. I wish there had been an option to call the police or to call 707 and have him break in there and save me. I was so scarred by Jumin's route that I haven't even played the game since then.

That show exactly my feelings during Jumin's route! First I really liked him, but later situation became quiet sick when M.C. couldn't went home and Jumin became so sticky possesive. And unexpectly running away from this trap situation went toward Bad End!
He is quiet popular as character, so I havent' expected his route would be so pain. Personaly I liked him during previous rouetes I had played (Zen, Yosuung and Jaehee), but half of his route he were pretty scary. Seriously! I liked him more ever during Jaehee's route

Its exaggerated somewhat. MC is in danger and Jumin won't let her go back to the (extremely unsafe) apartment until he's sure she's safe. His perspective is a bit skewed because he's unstable due to being betrayed by his father and losing Elizabeth the 3rd, but it's literally like two or three whole days where he won't let her go back. And, despite the way the RFA acts about it, she's in very real danger.
