I got a medium backpack one very similar to yours .I have a small standard poodle and the back strap is just behind her rib cage. It is almost at its losest it can go I can fit my fingers (small hands) and could tighten it only a little bit. It will be loser when she gets groomed so hopefullyit will continue to fit. She still as a tiny bit to grow at one year old. I think this is way more comfortable than what we had for her before. I just don't like that it has to go over her head . Would have been better if the next strap had a clip as well. I love that I can remove the packs and hope they will help with loose leash walking the way a backpack helped my previous dog. it was very hard to find a backpack that had detachable and functioned also as walking harness. I found the Arcadia one at Petsmart. My dog is 42lbs. the picture on their site looks like the back strap is further back on the dog than how it sits on my Molly but I wonder if it's just due to the length of her body. I think a large would be too big.
