It would have been a really good idea as well considering the Ford rangers are fairly reliable and the 4.0L V6 would have plenty of power. The crew cab Toyota tacomas didn't even have a 4L at the time and they're 3.4l V6 had enough power
@@threewheelerdonuts8284 I agree too. But crew cab's were not that popular when the Ranger was redesigned, followed by the fact that Ford let the model run all the way from 98 to 11 shows that they would rather leave it alone then to do another update before its discontinuation.
The S10 looks so clean. The Tacoma looks good too, but that Taco driving position looks like you're sitting on the floor. That was an issue for years with these trucks.
I would’ve bought a Dodge Dakota without second thought but if I had to choose between these I would’ve got the Toyota. The Chevrolet with its fisher price/ rubber made interior I wouldn’t have even considered.
I still wonder why ford didn't offer a crew cab ranger 🤔
Edit: At least in the U.S.
They did in other countries

They did overseas. But we got the Sport Trac.

@@darnellrobeson4761 Just figured out the first generation of the Sport trac 2001-2005 was actually built on the same frame as the Ranger.
i'll take the taco
Wonder how much my Zr5 s10 went for new in 02 considering the base model was going for 25

These two trucks shouldn’t even compared.. Toyota gets the trophy!

Chevy S10 is force and resistence
those early Dakotas were just beautiful. that was when dodge had the best looking vehicles.
Toyota has a penchant to build ugly cars, but the face on that Tacoma is one only a mother could love.
Yeah, that Toyota will run circles around that S 10
Yeah now we know that for sure!
The S10 had half ton leaf springs and a frame that didn't rot away in 10 years.
@@billgateskilledmyuncle23yeah but the frame was the only thing that lasted on those 😂
@@davewilson7602i thought that the vortec engine is famously good
@davewilson7602 easier to swap a transmission than a frame idiot lmaoooo
good job toyota. get rid of four wheel drive, have less std featurs and options and charge thousand more. how dumb.
S10 ftw
S-10 is number 1!
Yeah I'd still choose the extended cab ranger
