    I had the furan cycloaddition and had to explain the mechanism at a contest, didn't know about benzyne at that time sadly.

    I remember struggling like crazy with benzyne formation as a intermediary step in some odd synthetic pathway I tried to figure out years ago. Never got it to work though. But I distinctly remember hearing some evil giggling from inside the reaction flask. I'm pretty sure benzyne was formed but just gave me the finger. Fucker!
