I remember struggling like crazy with benzyne formation as a intermediary step in some odd synthetic pathway I tried to figure out years ago. Never got it to work though. But I distinctly remember hearing some evil giggling from inside the reaction flask. I'm pretty sure benzyne was formed but just gave me the finger. Fucker!
How triple bond can exist in closed very small chain like benzene the strain should be too much even if we isolated separation of charges should happen isn't it?
