As a gay guy thank you to everyone for fighting for us (most of us normies are too shy and non-confrontational to stand proudly). My own Asian parents asked me if i needed to be "fixed" or if there was some "mental issue" in my brain when they confronted if I was gay or not and that they could help find someone to fix me. When I look everywhere, Christians usually say we are "broken" and that they tell us this because it is out of "love" and that its a "sin". But apart from feeling sad, I also feel so much anger because of the irony of some Christians who feel it is okay to hurt others with their beliefs. Real pain, real hurt, real impacts. Here's my qualm with the bible. Why does god and the bible endorse slavery (e.g., how to manage slaves, how to keep them, how to inherit them) while not condemning this crime against humanity? How can you justify Leviticus 20:13 on executing gay people and gay sexual acts? Obviously, as an Agnostic, I see the bible as written by man himself because these interests align with powerful and influential people who owned slaves and were homophobic. A god endorses slavery and declares execution of gay people does not sound like a loving god whose every word should be listened to blindly. A lot of Christians say, Oh I read the new testament and somehow that covers up and dismisses all of the heinous morals in the original testaments. That's why I see Christianity as no more than a tool to be weaponized against different groups of people and to suppress them. Ideas about how women should act around their husbands, or how to manage slavery or to kill gays. And now im sure its become more subtle to masquerade in our new progressive world- to avoid being declares as racist/sexist/homophobic. To follow Christianity really is to "Cherry pick" lines to follow, to cherry pick which testaments to read and to ignore the ones you don't agree with. Would there be much divine value in it anymore knowing all of the above. How can you justify it and continue to wield the bible like the universal truth when its filled with hatred and interests of very particular things a slave master would want? The bible says all this stuff and its there. I genuinely hope people reground themselves in reality for a moment and critique everything they've been taught to believe. From some random guy.
Greetings, beloved! Thank you for your gracious comment. As Christians, we have much to repent for and repair with regard to the condemnation and exclusion of our queer siblings. You are not broken. You are precious exactly the way God created you, and there is no way to "love " anyone by shaming them. Period. Please forgive our misguided false righteousness. The "sin" is in separating us one from another and not working together to heal this beautiful world. Walk in love.
