Almost 10 years ago, exactly, I used a KK2 to stabilize a Hobbyking Skipper, that I had thrown an FPV system in (my first FPV fixed wing, and now have a modern Josway Drogonfly V2 running iNav). That was a pro move back then, and I got addicted to having the safeties it brings to the table. These days I won't put a plane up that doesn't have an FC, thanks to the addiction the KK2 started 🙂 edit: KK2 not KK@ lol
Hello I understand that correctly with the F35b The KK2 board is only needed for hovering the other servos altitude side rudder are operated with the normal receiver . So KK2 with CPPM, via receiver servos would be plugged into the receiver
Joel, please tell me also, how do you power the esc for small esf's? You sayed 6s for bigger edf, but for smaller, how do you connect the all lipo batteries?
Hello Joel, Bravo for all your explanations and for having carried out this rather difficult exercise of sharing your method. It succeeded ! I wish you good luck for the future. I'm looking forward to seeing how you're going to configure the outputs for FFF (Fast Forward Fly) mode. Small detail, but which is important, don't forget to calibrate your inputs so that they are received at +/- 1000 on the KK2 card. The OAVTOL firmware is designed this way. Another question, do you use the GUI for OAV tool? or do you still program your KK2 models with the buttons on the board. Can't wait to see you do the PID adjustment See you soon
kk2 :) - I still have more than a dozen of them in my drawer: Hobbyking hard case, separate display unit (only have one of this). Should it work? Where to get OpenAero-VTOL?
Joel, can be done with the brushless motors and propellers, for example motor 1 and 2 rear like 6 inchi propeller and 3 and 4 motors on the wings tip, like 3 inchi or smaller propos with smaller motors!? Of course, the plane will be lighter and smaller.. Cheers
Thanks that helped. I do have a question about the receiver. Does it have to be a Spectrum receiver? I used a radio master receivers that are using Express LRS will this be compatible with the kk board?
@@Joelmelanieoh thanks a lot for puting this topic out there, I need to learn more about this KK2 then, I was always curious how do you implement the transition and all that stuff. Thanks again :)
I still love it and why, there are free mixers in that board and I can switch between free mixers. I can mix esc’s mand servo’s separately and freely and it still do the job. I would love to go to a modern faster board but for me difficult. I treid the ardu pilot, super stable board but millions of settings and hard to program. Maybe you have cool ideas to help me? Or suggestions? I would Ben happy to listen😃😉
@@Joelmelanie I have found a VTOL software version for the KK2 . There is 8 outputs configurable as motor control or servo control and you can set up the threshold point to turn off the tail motor. The KK2 have a lot of potential but it is not possible to backup. I have a version of this controller with a keyboard extension so it is possible to install sensor board right on the CG and install the keyboard at a place more accessible. Your projects are awesome !
@@raymondhuot1684it’s possible to backup with usb basb , the is a sheet format that you can download and upload configuration..for a software starter like me not so easy but it works it works
Please concider to give me a lot of thumbs up to to trigger the UA-cam algorithm, I really need your support ❤

amazing story, the kk2 is still good for keeping models stabilized 😃😃
hey Joel, great job! btw: nice idea, to mix wing edfs for transition acceleration, perfect😍
❤
This is awesome! I’ve always loved the X-32 and always wanted an RC version!
Thankyou so much, what type do you want to build? A normal flying version or with vtol complex capability?😅

Correct, 👍

Hey with a separate 4S 4200mah lipo pack
Thanks! 👍💪✌

What do you flash the KK2 board with?
There is a free flash tool wich you can download on rc groups, I will show it how that works in the next video
@@Joelmelanie Excellent, thanks! I have been following you for a long time, you're almost there after a lot of work! Well done!

All positive yes, but I do love the sound of an nice edf
All motor ans servo connection details video please
I NEED A VIDEO FOR THE F-35 KK2 SETUP
Will make a tutorial about that model 2, basically the samen but one edf more
Thanks that helped. I do have a question about the receiver. Does it have to be a Spectrum receiver? I used a radio master receivers that are using Express LRS will this be compatible with the kk board?
I don’t know, but pwm out always works
Joel, will you also explain how the main EDFs are setup for forward flight. Based on the video, looks like one EDF is on a swivel.
Correct, there will be a centralized big EDF from Jp to lift and push the model forwards
Is a KK2 still the best available option?
In my opinion yes
My level Meyer does not work. It freezes the whole board. What might be the cause?
Ah you have the one with red buttons?
Yes@@Joelmelanie
Same as you
My board also freeze on level mpde
finally
Their is any alternate transmitter and receiver of low cost instead of duplex rx & tx because it is not affordable and not available in India
Hmm maybe the teranis from fr sky?
Radiomaster Boxer or Pocket with ExpressLRS. Or Jumper t20.
@@froqstar thank you
Lol, zag een short en dacht bij de inrichting van het huis: dit is vast een Nederlander. Verder wel duidelijk aan je Engels 😂
Haha correct 👊🏻😎
make the harrier VTOL for real
Enormous amounts of work however this plane is so ugly 😀😀
So super ugly I start liking it🤤
@@Joelmelanie just one question: is this KK2 flight controller also responsible for transition phase, from hover to flight mode?
Yes indeed
And also from flight to hover and vertical landing

wtf you are using a kk2 thats like 10 years old i think my firstt quadcopters had that did not like it

INAV is adding VTOL Support with 7.0 version to be released soon. Much simpler than Ardupilot to set up.
