Before They Called It Tribeca

As the city’s history goes, the neighborhood that calls itself Tribeca is young, beginning in the 1970s with its transition from manufacturing and warehousing district to residential enclave. The area’s evolution before that, going back centuries, is the subject of this show.

Thank you for this! My family moved to Greenwich and Duane in 1976. I remember factories all around us, upper-level freeways were being torn down, and battery park city was a huge sand dune.
