Quick question, can you apply the shrink over a tapered grip, kinda like a double wells grip for a fly rod?
Yes, provided the shrink tube's shrink I.D. is not greater than the smallest O.D. of the grip shape. Our shrink tube will contract to an I.D. about 60% of the unshrunk I.D. We hope this helps.
Really appreciate this video, just have one question; do you do the heat shrink with glue before or after you've reamed out the EVA to fit the blanks. Thanks
You would want to ream the grips first, if reaming is necessary. Many builders press EVA grips onto blanks using a lubricant like rubber cement etc. Rodbuilding.org is a good forum to search for additional techniques.
What size wrap
Go about 50% to no more than double the size of thickness of rod...Preferably somewhere between 50-75% the size...
