I saw Mellow Candle at Ballyvaughan, Co. Clare in Ireland around 1972. They played "Silver Song" in a tent on a glorious Saturday afternoon. What more could you ask for?
I scored a bootleg LP in Japan many years ago, you folks are so lucky with your originals!! I would never sell mine even if it was worth a lot haha! Fantastic band, beautiful performance and songwriting!
Wow, I read in an issue of MOJO magzine several years ago that this band never actually released an album.......anyway, good to finally hear them after just reading about them and wondering.
@stevee989 cant agree more... all my rare vinyl has a cd backup to ensure the vinyl stays minty... maybe its cheating but in 30 yrs when my wax is still mint ill be : )
@stevee989 Nice one mate. You can't beat vinyl . Not sure I would be able to turn down that sort of money but I know I would regret it for the rest of my life. Keep enjoying it mate.
we used to slag them when we were skinheads in dublin as they were a hippy band but like DR STRANGELY STRANGE,SUPPLY DEMAND AND CURVE,ORANGE MACHINE,MUSHROOM,ELMER FUDD and PEGGY's LEG kept prog rock,folk/celtic rock and a lot of hippies going in IRELAND and have now become part of the retro polularis.
One of the most beautiful songs ever
Hey gerry bohemians, we lasted and Clodagh and myself are still making loads of music and playing festivals.
Alison, what do you think of All About Eve's cover version??
How brilliant that you posted, Alison. Your band is legendary.
remember you from Blackrock Park Sunday afternoon concerts, happy times!
What a band, what a song! Simply beautiful!
These guys deserve the wider recognition , even if it"s 30 years after .

Wonderful music here. I agree wholeheartedly with the description that you gave the video! I will probably come back to this one many times...
Swaddling Songs is the best album ever.
@GreetsFromHell - All About Eve covered this lovely song in about 1990. What a criminally underrated band Mellow Candle were.
Beautiful!! Was brought to my attention by Rufus Wainwright mentioning the "best band name ever" ;-)
I only came across it by accident myself. Searched the internet for the Album.Costly but worth it.
I can't believe I haven't heard them before. Incredible band.
Wonderful song- thanks!
Must recommand..and timeless Classic

I really wish someone would cover it to put it back in the limelight again. As far as I know only All About Eve covered it.
